No - it's the - and I quote: Thread. (I highlighted, underlined and italicized the pertinent portion) It it not the "ask questions about science/technology in an airplane" thread. I actually don't think we have a proper aviation thread. I'm sure if you just asked one of the mods instead of PMSing - then they'd tell you to open an "Aviation Technology" thread. Given that there's plenty of people in the modeling forum who love modeling airplanes etc, I'm sure they'd be interested in maybe contributing, reading and discussing aviation. Pete

Well - I will say this much in terms of something positive: It looks more appealing thant ROTF. Pete

I really need to pick up that Sheryl NA.... excellent piece of work. The hearts are cute Pete EDIT: Making it my birthday present as we speak now...

Obviously to help Luftwaffen pilots know where to shoot! Next silly question unrelated to Anime or sci-fi? Pete

Ok - back again - last comment on Gubaba's brilliant find .... I have discovered WHY Misa Hayase fell for Ichijo Hikaru. According to the OFFICIAL stats, Hikaru's FOOT is 14% the length of his ENTIRE body. his foot is 25cm long... Well - guess we know why Misa went for him now Predictable girl... Of course...this also explains why despite being shorter than Claudia, he weighs more than her...although still just a meager 58 kilo Pete
-
Well - I'm not gonna knock the stats because they do confirm that I have been happily dating Misa Hayase for almost 6 years now! Misa Hayase: Born: March Height: 168 Weight: 45 (but that's clearly a retarded number) Hair: Auburn, shoulder length My girlfriend: Born: March Height: 165 Weight: 54 (at 54 kilo she looks like Misa in the flight suit) Hair: Auburn, shoulder length I love how even the month of birth matches... I think my girlfriend was born on the 13th...but I can never remember her exact birthday...for which I am eternally damned year after year... Pete

More critical attention given to the stats Gubaba cited: Let's look at the ladies. First - Roy's girl - Claudia. 182cm ... but the stats can't decide whether she weighs 48 kilos or 59... Guys... that's a BIG difference! My girlfriend is 165cm (the stats say Misa is 168 - so my Misa is the height of the real Misa...of course!) ... But the stats say Misa weighs 45 kilos! That would make her anorexic! That's ridiculous. At 19 she could weigh in at minimum 49 kilos. My girlfriend weighs in at 54 kilos. My Misa is 41 and exercises regularly and has a great figure. If she needed to loose weight, it would be like 1 or 2 kilos to look "fitter." If my girlfriend weighed 45 kilos at 168/165cm - she would be a skeleton frame. Seriously. Now - this is why Claudia's official weight of 48/59 is...bizarre...because that's a pretty big margin. But first things first...Claudia is 20cm taller than Misa? I never could tell. Misa's pretty short at 168cm - in high heels she looks taller - but then..Claudia wears heals too. In any event Roy at 207cm weighing 118 kilo with Claudia at 183 weighing 48... umm... That would be like putting a long twig next to a huge rock. I just never got the sense from what the anime showed us that their porportions were so exagerated. Again - Roy at 190 cm? Believable. He's clearly taller than Claudia - but 30 cm taller? No. And Misa weighing 45 kilo is just absurd at her height. She's not annorexic. She fills her tight flight suite with some very lovely curves - those curves would NOT exist if she weighed in at 45 kilos at 168cm. My DOG weighs 28 kilos for Protoculture's Sake And most of that is Beagle Muscle - but seriously....Misa cannot weigh 45 kilo at 168cm and look like she does. Pete
-
I'm back - only this time - with Kakizake: http://macross.anime.net/wiki/Hayao_Kakizaki 207cm and 140 kilo! Ridiculous! He wouldn't be able to walk at 140 kilos. That's like Jabba the Hut proportions. Kakizake should weigh in at Roy's 118 ...max. 130...but 140...?? that's huge. I mean... seriously ... I don't know about these stats...they don't compute! Pete
-
Double post - but - one more thing... According to the Macross Compedium - Roy also weighs 118 kilo! Guys - I'm 196cm and I weigh 102 kilos when I don't work out for a week and eat too much! Usually, if I stick to my work out routine, I weigh in at 97-100 kilos out of which very very little of that is stomach and most of it is muscle tone, bone and just...well..ME. Now, granted, I still have a long ways to go to reach Agent 1 muscle tone status - but I would say I've developed a healthy Peter Parker/Spiderman muscle tone and certainly don't have a pot belly any more. SO... this would mean that if Roy weighs 118 Kilo with a height of 190cm .... then he is...Kakizake! Seriously. With a height of 216cm - it would be a bit more plausible to weigh in at 118 kilo ... but really -Roy would have to be built like Dolph Lungrin in He man and the Masters of the Universe or Rocky 4. I mean - that's the kind of Roy we're talking about with these stats. But that's NOT the Roy we see in that picture. I mean - look at his legs - clearly he doesn't hit the weight room and work on his upper legs at all. He's got long, slender legs. I'll grant that it looks like he at least has a good upper body frame - but it's not bulging. So where's that 118 kilo coming from? Sorry - but the stats don't match the physical image or themselves for that matter. 216cm and 118 kilos is Kakizake. Pete will now look to see what Kakizake's official stats are..because...if Roy is 216cm/118kilos then Kakizake would have to be like 3 meters tall and weight 200 kilos...which is absurd
-
But the link you post says: I think it's fair to say that the additional 36 cm are from his hair. It's way bigger by the time of Space War 1 than it was in Macross Zero. I'm 196cm tall - so Roy is shorter than me. That makes me feel really big! .... As for the SDF-1 - given the parameters you cite, and the visual data available in the anime itself, the SDF-1 would clearly have to be no shorter than 1200 meters but no longer than X>1200 meters with a circumfrance roughly equal to the diagonal slope of its' super dimmensional axis factored for wind sheer at max/min PSI of 320/023 Pie. Now if you also want to add variables such as mass displacement of molecular particles in sub-space stratospheric range ambulation, then that'll complicate things a bit - but only so much. Given the above I'd say you were right about the original length of the SDF-1, with a margin of error no great than the lesser sum of the two parts of the half of the whole of the three halves of the initial two parts of the four quarters of the first tenth of the third fifth of the second tenth of 1. Pete

Actually - here's why this makes sense: EVERY VF Yamato sells is packaged with three useless pieces of plastic moulded into useless attachments to Valkyrie stands that almost nobody has or at the very least that have to be bought seperately - thereby meaning that out-of-the-box these pieces are useless for most people who don't buy their valks with valk stands that are discontinued and being re-released in March anyways. soo... Wouldn't it be a better business idea to take the money being used to produce those attachments to valkyrie stands that are packaged uselessly with Valkyrie and...you know...spend it on making side-covers - which are useful - for the valkyrie? The parts to the stands can just be packaged with...well...the stands! Pete
-
The only way Roy can be 7 feet tall is if you count his hair-do into the measurement. I can believe him being 6 ft. 4 - and then the hair makes up for the other 8 inches. Pete
-
Never let women control the remote! You might as well just have given her access to the Nuclear button! Pete
-
Roy was 7 feet tall? That would make Claudia like 6 ft 5... Misa would be almost 7 feet tall...Hikaru, who I thought was like 5 foot something would be 6 something... and most importantly of all... If Roy is 7 feet tall - there's NO WAY the SDF-1 could be 1200 meters!! Pete

NOW K-On finally gets figmas - starting from Yui. I haven't watched this yet, and the girls are a tad tooo munchkin for my taste - but I love girls playing casual rock in high school bands ...I guess... I'm thinking of adding these to my collection - mainly because Haruhi and Yuki will have somebody to jam with... Heck...LOTS of really pretty Figma girls coming out this year! Seriously! Meanwhile, Kaiyodo gives us Proffesor Layton and the mistransformable Revoltings ... what were they thinking? Pete

Strike a Pose [ ASTRO PLAN EDITION! ]
VFTF1 replied to Ghost Train's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Technically I don't think this thread should be locked. We know the toys are coming and even God Graham has mentioned he might pick one up Eventually someone will want to post them... Knowing MWF though - I bet you that this thread will grow to 3 or 4 pages and when SOMEBODY finall does have an Astro Plan toy --- they'll make a new thread to post it! Pete -
I saw those, but didn't like them. Boobies hanging off a head/decolt are not attractive. They need to be attached to the remainder I guess I'm an Hour Glass ( guy more than anything else... Better still, Sensual Tummy Mouse pads would probably be the best.... Pete

Good point Freiflugg88 regarding Macross Plus - and that scene where they use a beam on Myung's head...it's like they're drawing out her Spiritia and inputting it into the computer/Sharon Apple. It's all connected... Who would'a thunk it Pete

I have nothing against recycling urine to make water. Pete will comment more extensively on the rest of the fascinating disquisition later

Regardless, my only point was that - to my knowledghe - Wing Gundam never had a semi-Gerwalk mode that looked like a raptor As to Carscream/Carwarp.... The whole "What!? Seekers as cars!?" thing is kind of an old song and dance by now guys. Does anybody remember the G2 Gobots? Soundwave and Megatron were little race cars back then. I think even Frenzy was a racecar. I think what we're dealing with here is brand marketing gone crazy.... In any event...none of these "new" offerings are inspiring at all. Alternity is wierd to me.... neutrla on them... Japanese animated look nice in the pictures - but not worth the prices IMO. Hasbro versions were barely worth the overinflated TF prices.... Then again...they DO look like the best thing going for 2010 thus far... TF wise... As for Broadcast Device Label... Wow. Talk about novelty. Bringing back a failed production run USB hub. Still waiting on Hasbro to present something fresh and new. Heck - still trying to recover from the trauma of the picture that turned me away from Transformers definitively: namely ROTF Devastator (the supreme toy) way back pre-release when I saw the gallery on Seibertron.com I was like - ok that's it. Bye bye.

Actually - no they aren't. The majority of Revoltechs are at least anime accurae sculpts of the super robot in question. These transformable Valkyrie sacrifice the one selling point that helps Revoltech stand out: super poseable/cheap/anime accurate. Since usually - it is not hard to acquire CHEAP toys of anime robots - but everybody wanted cheap AND super poseable AND anime accurate. 2400 yen - arguabley not. 1500 yen...? Arguably yes. The problem with Revoltechs is that, Japanese retail for them jumped from the latter to the former from the time they were first introduced. This really hurts their competitiveness because the more expensive they are, the more things like PVC, non-transformation or "ugly" Revoltech joints hurt the mold. Personally, I've come to the conclusion that buying "cheap" is bad. Buying quality - no matter the price - is the best. If I can't afford something, I just don't get any "version" of it and wait until I can afford the best version possible. Usually, for super robots that means Soul of Chogokin, and for Macross (sans Frontier) it means Yamato. This really leaves only Fraulein as desirable Revoltech purchases - but even here Max Factory's figmas are winning out by virtue of sheer quantity and pace of anime girls they offer. Kaiyodo did do Gurren Lagann mecha, which made me very happy - but given that there's really nothing to compare them too - it's kind of a given that Revoltech Gurren Lagann are "the best Gurren Lagann mecha on the market" ...because really...what else is there? Nothing really... We'll see. So far - Kaiyodo's offerings for this year are really really sparce compared to Max Factory. They DO have lots of CUTE characters - like the Yotsubas, the Rikis, the Laytons and the stuff like that - not that I own any of it...but those would be some Revoltechs I'd pick up with spare cash just for the cute anime factor. Beyond that though...well...basically .... they are getting more expensive, there are too few girls and human characters - they really blew their chance to make Macross characters - even for Frontier (if they could, or does Bandai have exclusivity in that range?) - they wasted the last quarter of 2010 making six million color varients of Idol Master Strawberry blackberry blueberry nobody knows or cares who you are and their Queen's Blade line have failing asses. Although - in all fairness - Queen's Blade seems to be the best thing they've got going for themselves now. Also - I guess if you're a Fist of the North Star fan - then you think Kaiyodo are God. It all ultimately sort of boils down to what anime you like and what you're willing to spend. Revoltech aren't all that bad - I had considered at one point having a huge collection of them -- but really...they are just kind of not for me... I so prefer the Soul of Chogokin super robots to Revoltech. Revoltech are just not satisfying enough. No transformation abilities (even no parts forming) just take away half the fun... Certainly I think these transformable Valkyries are a total bomb. I don't know who came up with the bright idea to make these things... Pete

Sounds like a repeat of Macross' Grand Cannon... In any event - I would be interested to discover how many people who were fans of the Macross Saga back in 84 are NOW huge Robotech fans waiting with baited breath for RLAM or Shadow Rising... and how many of those people are now Macross "purists." Back in the 80s - I didn't know Macross existed. I did like Robotech role playing games and thought the novels I read were nifty. Under the circumstances (no knowledge of Macross existing), I would have qualified myself as being a Robotech fan back then. My love for Robotech was marginal - no where near as HUGE as my love of Transformers. For me, Robotech was just another interesting cartoon, with a slightly more mature and realistic bent. But now... Who really cares what they think up? Who really gives a frak about the Zor clone or anything else? I think most Robotech fans my age who were in a similar predicament to me are now just Macross fans. Personally I'm always a sucker for girls who look like this! Gotta love the curves on Yamanobe Tomo! Pete
