The Macross F valk looks fabulous! As much as I enjoyed M7, this is a step in the right direction... VFTF1

I wrote a pretty lengthy post about Physica a while back... and I was thoroughly impressed by the way it was handled...don't want to repeat myself but... Physica's wife wasn't cheating on him - I didn't read it that way - I think she didn't even know where he was, whether he was dead or alive and I think that he was so gung-ho about his job that he didn't really care.... his kid was just some token to be mentioned that made him feel better... but it's not like he was there for the kid, taking care of the kid, living a family life... he was off piloting his Valkyrie...and...like the old Minmey song has it "he loves his airplane more than he loves me." Physica's wife didn't so much cheat on him as she simply accepted the she lived in seperation from her husband. Gamlin's reaction - so overtly emotionally immature (as were most of his reactions to cultural customs in civilian life) were simply more proof of how disattached the military is from the civilians... again - remember the narrator in SDFM after Hikaru's first battle - "he felt that he was loosing his emotions" - becoming just a killer - well - Gamlin, Physica, that's exactly what UN Spacey made them - and that's why they found Bassara annoying... I find Bassara annoying on a completely different level then the military. I just happen to disagree with a lot of Bassara's aesthetics - albeit I like his music - I just don't like his body language, his style... but the military doesn't like his independence and down-to-earth care-free attitude...aka - they resent that Bassara is free and not bound by a sense of duty, let alone a chain of command. These are things for which I admire Bassara - or at the very least - things I think are important and personified in Bassara. VFTF1

First of all - Ratchet - you are obviously a very intelligent person, judging by your musings on the PAPER dollar and gold. I don't want to risk too much of an off-topic, but are you by chance a Ron Paul supporter? (note to moderator: NOT INTENDED TO START THE HIDEOUS POLITICS TOPIC! suggest that any further comment on this matter be throw private message - please don't kill me for asking)... As to how I "save" for my collection... err... well... judging by my maxed out credit cards - I don't But I have decided to start an internet toy store here in Poland; and will just happen to be selling Transformers, Valks, Gundam and Revoltech...which just...err...happen to be the things I'm into... Other than that ... I try not to buy regularly...that is - I splurge sometimes... and then go months without making a purchase...and then splurge again...though starting a business means I won't be splurging any time soon! Here's something you don't see every day... and a fine contrast to the VF-0S, naturally... VFTF1

Err... getting back to Macross 7 .... I finally finished the whole series. I'm going to list my main gripes; absent from which will be things like "Bassra is annoying" or "The beginning is excessively repetative" because these are blatantly obvious... GRIPES WITH MACROSS 7: 1. WHY did they do something cheesy like "bring back Gamlin"? He should have stayed dead - it would have made the entire episode so much more moving, not to mention making the series so much more moving. 2. Why did they spend 3/4 of the show developing Gigil just to have him dissapear when he got very very interesting? 3. Why didn't Bassara demand that Lord Gemelitch return the body of Advisor Dudewholookslikegirl back to him? I mean - in the end, Lord Gepelnitch just up and flew away in a body that was not his own... There's more - but they are really minor. Over all - I LIKE this series. I REALLY like Submarine Street.... my favorite song; with Power to the Universe being second, and some of Mylene's slower renditions also taking top marks. It's a good show. I'm glad I watched it. Here's my two cents about the VTF-2SS-U... This is the kind of stuff I imagine gets produced by raw, hungry, imaginative engineers at then gets widled down to size by the finance branch of the munitions company as well as laughed at by trained, experienced pilots who immediately intone about how "all that extra junk" would be useless in combat... In fact- it kind of reminds me of the Empire, in Star Wars, which seemed to be hell bent on the idea of building huge, practically static or at best extremely slow, weapons of mass destruction that took a long time to float up to their target before firing their short-range melee attack which, granted, was devastating, but - once you knew the weapon existed and was lumbering around out there - it really wasn't a problem to devise a counter-measure... I don't see how this Mech can be an effective star ship boarder - unless "close range combat" with Zendradi means doing what the destroids did in the Dadelus Attack melee - but then why have a lumbering Valkyrie do this? All in all - I'm an opponent of over-armored Valkyries because I believe that Destroids are built to be armored attack units meant to serve as artilery and close-range high destructive force release vehicles, while Valkyrie are meant to be arial combat machines with the capacity for space/underwater operations in different agile, versatile configurations... It looks more like a 3-D model than an actual toy... I guess that's a good thing?? VFTF1

Macross 25th Anniversary and upcoming new TV series thread
VFTF1 replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Here's my take on the VF-25: 1) It has the nose of the SV-51 2) It has the wings and exhaust vents of the VF1 3)It has the tail fins of the YF-19 4)It has the rear booster "bumps" of the YF-21 I like the design. Very happy that they didn't just go and build a totally looney out-of-the-ball-park new valk like they kind of did in Macross7... This is in my taste. Looks like this'll be really cool VFTF1 -
The only 1/60 VF-1 that I kept was the VE-1 - and I would recomend it to anyone who can get their hands on it. VFTF1
-
I'm hoping Kaiyado will make these. I have the 1/60 Quid Rau and while I appreciate the size - it's not that impressive a mecha... and would be better suited to the revoltech line...along with character figures. But yes - a story sculpt of that scene is a dream VFTF1
-
I'm more confused - I swear the FP is shown at the very end as attaching to the 21. VFTF1

What!? The YF-21?! On TV!? 1/60 version?! This news sucks Graham! I cringe at the thought of thursday and can't wait until the entire sordid ordeal has passed! I just hope no one throws it on YouTube - some things deserve to be forgotten. VFTF1 (Note: This message is meant to be contrarian...er...spelling?...contraryan...um...oh...you know - the opposite of all you guys ... I just got really giggly what with every post being "great!" ...) In all seriousness - I just can't see how you can make a 1/60 TV commercial... I mean - are you going to have some kid quick-change the YF-21 to fight the 19? The darned thing is most likely radically complex .... so what gives? I guess I'm flashing back to the vision of the green eyed TF fanatic who's head turns into Ultra Magnus ... and this is crossing with visions of little kids reaking utter havoc on 1/60 21s by trying to transform them quickly...in tune with music... DUMDADA DA DUM! The YF-21 sooooaaaRRRRzzz!! into action! Kapow! Blamo! (Picture a kid with the 21 in hand running round going "pppkksshooooo!!!!!") "Way-ef-nineteeno Tuuuansofoma!" (Picture kid trying to crack the thing apart and convert it quickly).... and the 21 falls to pieces while action music plays all along... hmm... and to think that I'm SOBER today :-) VFTF1

Good point Mach... Although I would add one more: Macross Zero is amazing. Macross Plus, for its' flaws, is pretty darned snazzy too. Macross 7 is just...something you can find good things in. VFTF1
-
Got my second Ivanov. Haven't transformed it yet- but am pleased to say that the wing tips hold perfectly, unlike my previous ivanov. am now trying to sell the previous one, but no one is crazy enough to buy it so... Guess I've got two Ivanovs Cooool VFTF1

Since there's nothing else to look at... can somebody throw that CAD art up on this page so we can all drool over it again? VFTF1
-
Might I add that the toys were absolute garbage - unless there's something beyond the bandais that came out? The VF-19s are such utter trash - the Nightmare's aren't that bad but then again the mould is not as complex...in any event... M7 toys are terrible... Would be really nice to get them Yamatoized. VFTF1

Well - I would really like to have all those wire things hanging off of the pilot's helment incorporated into the sculpt VFTF1

I can't say I watch much anime - actually - probably none at all. VFTF1

I'm warming to the series. I don't really like the Mecha as much as other Macross series because of the goofy colors and the departure from realism - what always made Macross design special was how close it was to real world militaria, with a small twist, and this made the transition part easy to bear... anyways... M7 really is zany - but the story is fun in other ways... it's kind of a kiddie soap opera, but I like it... I'm an M7 fan... I guess... with reservations. Certainly it's the WORSE Macross series out there - that said; it's still better than lots of other toons by a long shot... VFTF1

Geez... Here I thought this was just another good old "I love so and so most" and "so and so rocks!" thread, but no....fires...earthquakes...life and death.... Ok so - If a simultaneous nuclear strike annihilated the surrounding country side creating radioactive fall out, and at the same time terrorists struck the shopping mall nearby, knocking out - amongst other vital services - KFC - and amidst all of this bandits entered my home brandishing guns and intent on pillaging everything I owned, and I could only get out by jumping from the window - which is on the ninth floor - and needed to therefore tie a bed sheet to my ass in the vein hopes that it would serve as a parachute I would take.... My inflatable Lyn Minmey Sex Doll of course. VFTF1

I'm going to skip the Hikaru 1A - just don't like the head sculpt very much and I never liked the 1-A... got some other series Revoltech figures on preorder... But the J and S rock VFTF1
-
.... Not to toot my own horn here, but if you read the link carefully, you'll note that even that is fake ... I wrote the whole thing up from my head - inspired by someone else's post where they complained that maybe the 21 was too difficult to produce... Never thought it would get this much traction VFTF1

she appreciates the woody, but doesn't understand it - "after all, isn't it just the same as the black one, but with a different head," she asks all the time... VFTF1

Hmm.... some Revoltech Protodevilin would be cool. Sevil for obvious reasons, but Gigil, and Vorgat - that dude who shoots sperm from his stomach - would be great...
