I am not getting this because I don't want to regret it when a year down the line Yamato finally gives us a worthy SDF-1 toy. I don't want to make the mistake I made buying the stupid MP Robotech figures for really way too much money for what it was worth. I am sorely tempted - but I will pass. Prefer Groxier-X or something of that sort to this miniature mess... VFTF1

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
VFTF1 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Well - I looked at the picture, and frankly I'd be sold if not for the fact that the legs on the 1/60s are detachable. VFTF1 ps - don't ban me! I just had ta :-) -
Cracks on a Toynami toy? I'm shocked! Shocked! Just wait until the cup holding the joint for displaying the fighter mode also cracks...under the weight of the fighter! For all the complaining people do about Yamato's QC - I will be the first to admit that any damage I have ever done to my Yamatos was because I was not delicate enough and pulled the wrong way... Whereas Toynami is not only aesthetically inferior - but cracks. Steer clear of 'em I say VFTF1

I find it amusing that there seems to be no difference between the Civil Defense Corps and the Tactical division, listed as offensive mecha. VFTF1

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?

Wait'a minute.... It's going to be UNDER 100 USD???? How is that even possible? I mean - the VF Zeros are also 1:60 scale and they are over 100 USD... Did Yamato radically improve production methods? Did they discover new technological wonders? Did they find new ways to cut costs? VFTF1 -
Please forgive my seemingly newbie questions - but as I've never built a model - not even a snap-fit MG kit - I need to ask: 1) How many pieces do these generally have? 2) How tall are they? 3) What's the poseability like? And finally... if anyone has pictures of the Spartan, Tomahawk, Regult, Glugaloogualogoo (could never remember), and the Quid-Rau - I'd appreciate seeing VFTF1

1/1 Low Viz Lurk: Ok then explain how sara could sing and the flowers could grow fast right in front of shin's eyes? VFTF1: In the same way as Bassara could sing and bring an entire pyramid out of the water. Song Energy has enormous power. Or how Sara could generate that protective ball using her mind? VFTF1: In the same way as Sivil could generate a protective ball and take Bassara on a voyage across the galaxy. 1/1: Or how they didn't die when the floating rocks they were "flying on" (I think it was just sara levitating them using telekinetic powers which are supernatural) were destroyed mid air? VFTF1: Because they were shielded by the protective ball you mentioned in your last question. 1/1: What about the telepathic messaging mao used to project an image of herself? (who needs a cell phone when you got that?) VFTF1: All of this happens because of the heightened emotions of love and hope that Mao feels because she is in love with Shin. Her positive emotions serve to awaken the power of the Birdman's head, and the Birdman's head in turn makes these thing possible. The more love and hope it detects, the more it uses its' powers to help those who open themselves to it, the more hate and evil it detects, the more it seems to resort to the Final Solution of exterminating humanity - the "failed experiment." I didn't interpret anything in what happened in Macross Zero as magic... Sound Energy is a scientifically established "fact" in the Macross universe - just like anti-gravity... and just like anti-gravity has "machines producing it" - Sound Energy also uses machines - recall that Sound Force wore special back-packs that harnessed and focussed their sound energy into sound-beams. However -the protodevilon were capable of generating Sound-Energy without machines - because apparently the structure of organisms is such that it too can be made atune to Sound-Energy via will.... I don't see it as magic - the religious aspects in M Zero are there because people can't explain certain things without reference to higher powers - but these references are of course purely symbolic - in reality - what we are dealing with is the power of song as a life-generating and life-sustaining agent - and not just any song - but songs of love...not the Song of Destruction... I agree with the assesment that certain advanced technologies seem 'magical' to those who are incapable of explaining them - and this is where religious symbolism arises as a means of making certain phenomena remotely comprehensible.... As to the ending in Macross: Zero.... Well.. I think it's very beautiful - and I would only remind everyone that realism does not mean sterile clinicalism... artistic license has always been a part of the Macross universe... In fact - it's not the "realism" that makes Macross special - it's the blending of elements; just like the blending of personalities and situations and complexity - that makes Macross better than the rest. About the EMS and the tracking numbers... Each box should have a seperate tracking number. I've gotten multiples before and there were seperate tracking numbers for each box - so...I dunno...check with them. It is possible the one number you got was the "Master Number" or something like that... anyways...check . VFTF1

All paper currency will devalue over time if not backed by something solid like gold or silver, and they will devalue at a faster rate than normal if the government printing them engages in warfare and welfare in excess. For yeas, the worlds' paper currencies were backed by another paper currency - the dollar. Once people realized the Emperor was naked, they also realized that he was operating on the equivalent of monopoly money. I'm personally not happy with the decline of the value of the US dollar, even though I benefit from it in the short run. In the long run, however, it is an unnecessary decline and a similar fate will probably await the Euro and any other paper-money currency not backed by gold or silver. If history's any guide, it will lead to worse economic conditions and political crises. People unfortunately don't understand economics, and when the currency is destroyed by government over-spending, over-printing and over-taxing, people mistakenly fault the private sector (not realizing that money is, unfortunately, not a private good), and ask for even more government intervention - which just makes things worse... The only thing that will save us, or at least postpone the catastrophe, is: 1) The fact that - thank goodness - there is not one World Currency - so even if all the currencies are "fake" insofar as they are paper not backed by anything substantial - they are still in competition with eachother, and therefore countries with sounder economic policy than the US will also have marginally sounder currencies. 2) The fact that - thank goodness - governments are so inefficient that they can't even create inefficiency efficiently... in other words - the private sector is always six steps ahead of the red-tape industry...(look at cell phones and computer technology and google and all the other innovations - and imagine a world in which we still had to rely on government snail mail rather than having email)... 3) Maybe some people in some countries will elect governments that aren't so destructive? ... pesimistic about this one... Anyways - it's not just toy prices going up. And it's got nothing to do with "production costs" rising - because you have to ask what causes the production costs to rise? Ultimately - you condlude that every thing that is rising in cost is caused by something else rising in cost - aka - EVERYTHING is rising in cost. When EVERYTHING is rising in cost - that's inflation - and that's caused only by government - and only because the government is the monopolist on the production and distribution of money.... VFTF1

I really like the 1/60 Macross Zero figures. The backpack is less prone to giving me a heart-attack, there is no need to ply half milimeter bolts out of the nosecone of the jet when reverting from Battroid mode, and the general aesthetic is more menacing than the semi-chunky 1S... not to mention the sleek fastpacks on the 0S really make me happy. There will be a 1/60 TWO SEATER 1S !? Crap! That means I'm getting anothor Roy (my third one) after all VFTF1

That's nothing, man I can send you a super secret newsletter by snail mail for only 10 USD plus postage once a week. In it, you'll find all the hard hitting hard to come by news from Japan! For instance - just to teease you - Did YOU know that there will be a perfect transformation 1/72 scale YF-21 fighter coming out from Japan and it will be the best ever Robotech toy they made? It's being specially produced in conjunction with the recent Michael Bay Go-Bots movie. I also have access to lots of insider info about Japanese toy maker Yomatoa. My Grandmother's son is one of their top engineers, and she gets lots of info and sends it out to me under the anonymous moniker "Graham" (we know it's you Granma! ) VFTF1

Macross 25th Anniversary TV Special thread *READ THE 1ST POST*
VFTF1 replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I don't like Shirly Temple one bit... As annoying as Kaifun was, he told Minmey to sing when an attack was taking place - to keep people's spirits up - and as girly as Minmey was, she had the courage or sense of professionalism to do so. As irritating as Basara was, he bravely sang in the hopes that his music would end war. Shyrly Temple is a stuck up star who thinks she's the most important thing in the world and when trouble hits she high tails it away saying that the "professionals" should handle the crisis. Some inspiration. I seriously doubt that THIS FAR along in the Macross saga, the power of music as a culturally significant force in the history of humanity is unknown. When people go to a concert in the Macross universe, I would bet most of them aren't just thinking "cool, music and party!" but that they are also aware of how important music is to human history.... So Shyrl's behavior should definitely not sit well with the crowd... Unless I'm just wrong. VFTF1 -
Macross 25th Anniversary TV Special thread *READ THE 1ST POST*
VFTF1 replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
Watched Episode 1 of MF for the first time. Am well pleased with it. Some quick thoughts: 1) Bassara is now instantly cool compared to this hideous celebrity byaach! because AT LEAST Bassara was an idealist and had a good cause that he sang for - this Shyrly Temple or whatever her name is is a just a hideous spoiled celebrity who doesn't even sing well - it's like Paris Hilton without the porn video. I hope she gets squashed by a bug 2) Princess Boy is a very nice play on sexuality and male pride. I find it surprising and pleasant - largely because it's so far away from what I would have done with a main character and I like it when a show does things totally different to how I would have done them... 3) Nyan Nyan girl IS GREAT! The dance, the waitress outfit, the silly frog-phone - I love everything about her. Top marks It's the Minmay who will never stop being the cute girl who works at Nyan Nyan, the Minmey who never gets spoiled by celebrity life and shacks up with her cousin - it's everything good about Minmey and then some:) 4) The enemy mecha... meh! I'm not happy about them. They look like something out of Starship troopers. I KNOW I'd like them if Yamato did toys of them - but for now we got a pretty unimpressive glimpse of them - have to get used to them or something... 5) Misa Hayes wanna-be: I like the fact that she's there - but not sure about her yet. All in all - good stuff. Obviously -the mecha is spot on. VFTF1 -
Guide to the Differences Between Macross & Robotech
VFTF1 replied to lebhead's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well - all I really want to do after reading all of that is... Go see Genesis Climber Mospedea and Southern Cross in the original too! I am SO happy we have the internet and the ability to not have great things from other cultures filtered through a "more familiar" venue... I much prefer to experience the "wierdness" for myself VFTF1- 72 replies

I've kind of lost my passion for Transformers - I think the Armada/Energon/Cybertron lines sucked the joy out of it for me... the Movie was the last time I was actually happy with Transformers - but ultimately I've thrown myself back upon nostalgia and retain only by boxed G1 reissues (both Commemorative and TFC) and a plethora of boxed BW II, BW Neo and BW Takara reissues (BWReborn Primal and Megs too:) ) ... Animated has me mildly happier than the Kiddie Trilogy - at least I think it does... But all in all, I guess I really find it annoying that the property is revamped rather than continued all the time... Another way to put this: I can't remember when the last time I bought a Transformer was.... VFTF1

The Scott Buttnard with the cracks doesn't surprise me. The only Alpha from that entire line that was bug free was the Sue Graham. And in general - Toynami suck VFTF1
