Ah - I almost forgot to add the most important one. I am a member of an elite secret society that meets via an extremely complex matrix of super-electronic machines called "computers" and we have access to loads of information about Macross - one of the members of this elite secret society that I belong to, a certain Garham I think his name is- is very well connected with ...er...other members...of the...secret society, up to and including a myserious figure - rarely if ever leaving the shadows named Shawn (note how the letters S,h,a, and w all form part of his name yet also form parts of the word 'shadow' ) VFTF1

Well, I read the article - and it is disheartening, to say the least - mainly because it is yet another example of how low the humanities have fallen: from assessing the meaning of human happiness and the potential ways of arriving at happiness to merely researching trends in human activity on a very general level, based on extremely precise variables, all to come up with a very common sense observation that has about as much truth in it as its' oppossite (aka - it's just an opinion dressed up in pseudo-scientific lingo). But even if we take that study at face value - it doesn't explain why Shammy would marry Mr. "don't tear my pants off!" His looks are debatable. I would even venture as far as saying that his looks are potentially not that bad - what makes him look bad is his personality. In fact, I would venture to speculate that physical attractiveness and personality are linked. Some one with an annoying personality tends not to look so attractive - the same can be said for dress aesthetics. Someone might be physically attractive, but dresses in a way that hids it. In other words - given a fashion makeover ; the guy might not look half bad. Point is: he's not necessarily much less good looking than Shammy. And he's certainly FAAAR better looking than Loli. But Loli has a lot of great personality and warmth and is just fun. Sure; he probably makes less money than that pants guy... But pants guy probably makes about as much as Shammy - so I don't exactly see how someone neurotic and jumpy with a salary likely not higher than Shammy's could get Shammy to marry him. But on the other hand - air head idiot women often do the stupidest and most inexplicable things - so fine! But don't expect me to ever write a good word about Shammy again! VFTF1

Well this whole situation is just balls! Shammy OBVIOUSLY doesn't love her husband! He FORCED her to marry him! He's the SCRIPT WRITER for crying out loud! If he had ASKED Shammy - Shammy would have said "no way! If you must have me marry someone, have me marry Loli the Laundry guy, or better yet transport me out of this reality into the same one that VFTF1 is in!" But clearly that guy used his Script Writer powers to force Shammy into a marriage she never wanted! This is a mission that calls for Super Inter Dimmensional Fortress Man! And I guess this is also the first bit of "cannon" that I respectfully refuse to acknowledge Didn't happen! VFTF1

Wait - but - WHO is Shammy married to?? I mean - if she's married to Loli then fine - but it doesn't say that Loli is married; so I don't get it... I mean - NOWHERE in SDFM does Shammy get married; and if she was married to some guy back on Earth, then she sure doesn't show it during the entire time the Macross is flying from Pluto to Earth - in fact she seems like a fun single girl! I refuse to accept that Shammy is married. Then again - I ALWAYS fall for chick who turn out to be married! Even in anime! VFTF1

Display Your Collections...
VFTF1 replied to bryan_f_davis@yahoo.com's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
TCracker - that is indeed a very nice collection! I envy you the Angel Bird (I really need to finally get my hands on one of those!), and I must admit that the 25th Anniversary VF1S looks really good - the gold trim on black is indeed a great combo! Also, I am curious how much TF goodness is left out of the pic But now - I must nitpick! (forgiveness please!) Namely - you lazy lazy MWforum member you! Seal up those holes on the 1/48 1S's nose yes? I know those bits are hard to revert to their original placement - but it can be done - I use ear wax sticks to do it - you just have to get under them and apply upward pressure - and the ear-wax sticks with their cotton endings are perfectly delicate and therefore suitable for this business I just always get annoyed when I see pictures of Valks with those nose-ring-holes because it dimminishes the effort Yamato put into them - any other company would have just left those holes there - but Yamato allows them to close up for fighter mode VFTF1 -
I too apologize for not reading all 20 pages of the thread - and if the answer to my question is "yes" then just please write "yes/page x" - it will help those of us who are late in coming. um, wait - oh - you know what I mean !! Anyways: Has anyone picked up a Yamato Bumblegum Moto Slave? Any pictures? Any opinions? If yes - then around what page of the thread are they on? Thanks! VFTF1

I too love the Low Vis 2 - one of my favorite VF1s! But I rather think of these hunting or just dealing with stray Zendradi in the Amazon jungles VFTF1

Relations to Previous Series Characters....
VFTF1 replied to MisaForever's topic in Movies and TV Series
That just makes me like Sheryl even less. Basara was a true artist who didn't have "two faces" - he authentically believed in his music, he was passionate about it, his lyrics reflected his philosophy and he did everything to convince people that he was right - even risking his career - not to mention his life. So what if Sheryl is sweet and a 'really nice person' with her friends and family? Are her fans also just performing their "professional function" when they rave for her music or get moved by it? Sheryl has to realize that if she is just a "profesional singer" then her music is moving people in ways that is more than just entertainment - she is changing how people think and feel about the world through her songs - and it would no doubt be extremely upsetting to her fans to realize that Sheryl puts no heart into it. I just don't believe in this "profesionalization of art" stuff. Art is radical, art is an attack on convention and an attempt at awakening people. Anything else is just mere fluff and entertainment. Maybe that's all Sheryl is. I don't begrudge her being "just that" - she's free to be however she wants to be; and her fans can have their reasons for going to her concerts - although I seriously doubt she would have a sustained fanbase without something moving and passionate in her. I mean - look at how many of the scripted celebs have achieved more than a flicker of fame and sentiment - whereas songs from many years ago still ring true in our hearts. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh - and I understand that this is the first episode... but if Basara's activist passion was annoying in episode 1 of M7, then Sheryl's complete...lack of passion, complete passivity about the fate of other people - is well - terrible... You know who she reminds me of? JANICE MERLYN! Yep - spot on. Jenice Merlyn and her silly assistant. Janice the "I won't sign your silly rag" Merlyn... Janice the "professional" who was not crowned Miss Macross PRECISELY because she was scripted and professional and had nothing of the provincial charm and down to earth caring the Minmey had. Heck - I am a big Misa Hayes fan, so I usually don't praise Minmey - but here I have to. Look - Minmey CARED for people. Whenever Kaifun tried to make her professional, whenever he cynically made remarks or comments about the "business" end of things -Minmey rebelled. That's why Minmey was loved on the Macross- because she was a girl who cared for people. This "caring for people" was also probably why it took her so long to return Hikaru's feelings. She had so much empathy for everybody that it was hard for her to have love for just one person - she "loved everyone" - she didn't want to hurt anyone. Now, as a girlfriend - this attitude is hard to deal with and painful - but as a human being, you have to hand it to Minmey for being a wonderful human being; a wonderful woman who cared for others. Look at the speech she gave impromptu after Gloval's announcement that the Macross was leaving earth again - that speech brought people together and it all came from Minmey's heart - a big reason why it "worked." And no amount of polling, scripting or other professional balony will ever achieve that. So - Sheryl stills sucks VFTF1 -
Actually, to me he looks more like those acrobats in tight pants from the 70s who would swing on those swing bar things high up above the ground or walk on tight ropes. VFTF1

This is a good point - but only sort of. The perfect transformation is a major innovation - and I imagine it took them quite a long time to get to it. Personally - I would rather that they focus on QC and the like now, rather than innovation. But - then again - a little innovation never hurt nobody VFTF1

Sounds interesting! I was just reading up on Zambot 3 last night, so it's very very straaaange that you should happen to post this.... it's almost equally strange as those postings in the 1/500 SDF1 thread which "assured" me that Yamato had "no plans" to release an SDF1...therefore compelling me via psychological pressure to get the wave version... Granted - I have plans and aspirations to get SOC Zambot 3 soon - and they were never in any doubt - but your post seems only to reinforce that this would be a good idea in my life. Generally speaking - the first thing that caught my eye when reading about this was Killer the Butcher. That has got to be the greatest villain name ever. I also read that he likes to sunbathe and do other kinky stuff. Now, with this impressive recomendation, as soon as I've completed my M7 download, I shall likely check out Zambot 3 - although I would also love to watch the original Getter Robo VFTF1

It's like Britney Spears - she shaved her head, he got a custom paint job, she started taking drugs, he started drinking wine. Still beats Crap-In-Yer-Bear Hikaru VFTF1

A Tribute to the Cannon Fodder of Macross
VFTF1 replied to taksraven's topic in Movies and TV Series
Technically, the world is fodder for my cannon! No - wait...that sounds wrong... What I meant was that all in all, everybody is cannon fodder when they die - I mean - even Roy Fokker - cannon fodder. VFTF1 -
Agreed. And while they're at it, they could ditch those clunky metal bars and add a proper swing bar that tucks nicely away in fighter mode. And maybe they should also put some finger digits on those hands? In fact- removable vents and a built in perfect transformation heat shield would also make this toy a lot more solid. And maybe a nice antena that is retractable in gerwalk mode? While they're at it, they could also make these in 1/48 scale. VFTF1

I prefer to just imagine that he is a former Henchman for that Cannary from Fruit Loops breakfast cereal, who afte a falling out with his boss, got tossed into a bowl of Fruit Loops (the Canary's equivalent of Straxus' Smelting Pools from the old TF marvel comics), but miraculously survived the experience - and was forever scarred with the colors of Fruit Loops going soft in milk.... ok - I'm checking google now... I mostly listen to Fire Bomber and Lyn Minmey My favorite song is the Basara/Minmey duet on Angel Voice. Submarine Street and Try Again are much loved and from Minmey I like Love Flows Away. As for other bands - I greatly enjoy Spinal Tap; particularly Stone Henge. Big Bottom and Bitch School are ok too. As for other music - I like Alice Cooper, Poison, Bruce Springstien, Stan Bush, and the Smashing Pumpkins. VFTF1

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?

Cool. And it comes with Strike Parts too... very nice. VFTF1 -
Well - I can't disagree with someone called "MisaForever" so I'll just chalk it up to you trying to make the point that the only thing better than millions of women worldwide doing the Nyan Nyan song is millions of women worldwide doing the Nyan Nyan song RIGHT VFTF1
-
Now now - give the girls some credit I would prefer a million women trying and failing the Nyan Nyan dance to a world where no woman would dare be caught dead doing it, let alone one youtube. Bravo girls VFTF1
-
I have officially decided to make it a precondition that any girl who wishes to be with me must learn the Nyan Nyan dance Naturally this will be just another reason to send them running But seriously - this is very lovely stuff VFTF1
-
To me option one looks like they're sending an Elint Seeker into space... hopefully his gear is up there This is really great stuff - very impressed. VFTF1

Well, I see that this thread remains a veritable oasis of culture and refinement VFTF1
