Sometimes when I read Gubaba's posts, I feel as though my life has no purpose since he's around to say the things that otherwise I would have to say - and he knows Japanese Here, I would point out that most Macross endings have actually not been this easy to stereotype. Observe... SDF M TV: Kamjin and Lamplitz are killed (sad, since they were not totally evil buggers; even Kamjin). Tons of people on the Macross are killed (also sad). Hikaru and Minmey's budding romance and love ultimately FAILS. Even if you prefer Misa (which I do), try for a moment looking at it from Hikaru's point of view. Hikaru honest to gosh loved Minmey - I truly believe that. I think his love was misplaced and that Minmey was - as Roy said - the fickle type and not worthy of such pure and beautiful love as a noble guy like Hikaru could give (Misa on the other hand is the perfect woman for him) - but nonetheless; everyone can be turned - and it is tragic that Minmey, whose songs were able to turn an entire race away from war and to love...looses Hikaru at the end as is herself not able to be happy and in love. Not a happy ending. DYRL: Pretty much the same as above. Cut Minmey some slack. She does not have a "happy ending." Macross Plus: Guld dies after realizing that he raped Myung and that his friends loved him so much that they were even covering up psychologically for him. Myung's life - already shattered when she quit singing and sold out to become a corporate stooge goes completely down the drain as it turns out that she's been helping a creepy guy gain power over the Macross. Itsamu saves Myung - sure - but at what cost. Not a happy ending. Macross 7: I've said it once I'll say it a million times: Transvestitus might have started singing, but he still possessed the body of Advisor Herman; Giggly is dead, and hundreds probably died in that massive last battle.... Not a happy ending. Macross Zero: Sara is swallowed up by an alien monster, Shin crashes into the sea and dies, and the only solace we have is that maybe they go to heaven and the stars together. Meanwhile the Earth is still caught in the grips of a horrible civil war, and the entire beautiful culture of the Mayan people along with hundreds of innocent women and children is annihilated. Not a happy ending. VFTF1

I can't stand the Dub. I am so mad at myself for downloading MacPlus with english dubs... I thought I was getting the Japanese... Of course My Boyfriend is a Pilot NOW! is the worse offender; but in general the whole thing just sounds stale... The worse part is when Myung and Guld are up on the lookout tower Star mountain of whatever... there's a moment when Myung hesitates in her answer and due to the dub it just really has a flat dramatic effect even though the animation clearly shows it was meant to be more impact-like.... I just don't like dubs. (not trying to start a sub vs dub war either). I love the songs in Japanese, I think characters are more expressive in japanese - I just can't stand dubs in any medium - anime or movie. I like hearing differenting languages and following the subtitles and having trouble understanding - I don't like when someone tries to make it "easier" by dubbing - that just makes it boring. vftf1

An "adult" is legally defined as somone who is at or above age X. Klan Klan is an adult independent of what form she is in. Her age does not change just because her outward appearance does. The question of whether her mental state changes is a different matter - but even if it does, she would still be tried as an adult and the defence would have to make a mental insanity plea. Hi, My first recomendation would be that if you're going to make Japanse Robot photos that you use Japanese robots Case in point: Classics Masterpiece Optimus Prime. Bleh Better to use the original MP-01. A very different and much better looking - and Japanese - robot. The one you've got there is truncated by Hasbro. VFTF1

As to the speakers - it's been a while since I've seen M7 in chronological order - so I could be wrong - but I think Basara's music did effect Giggili...er...you know - the fellow who falls in love with Sivil later - pretty early on. In any evet, he seems to have been the most "free minded" of the Protodevilin - even though he got annoyed with Bassara; it was clear that he was fighting the power of Bassara's love music rather than just hating on him...a struggle within the soul kind of thing... or did that happen later too? Whenever I see prices like that, I immediately ask "why?" and start to wonder. If you check; the guy runs a retail store in a shopping mall in Hawaii. So there's the answer. He's charging for having a physical store to pay for, unlike internet stores which, although they have a warehouse and staff, don't actually have to have a physical store where people come in to buy things. I'm not saying that's "great!" - but perhaps he benefits from non-internet buyers who are just cruising the mall and see his stuff? The website is obviously kind of low-key and meant to supplement and advertise the store. Also - he seems to have a fairly small selection of Macross stuff - no Yammies far as I can see? - so maybe he's not even well oriented enough in the product range? It happens - sometimes a store gets something in, knows nothing about it, and sells it for a price that looks ridiculous to many of us. Although that is indeed an incredibly over-priced item... even if you factor in all of the above..... hm. VFTF1

My most recent Macross purchase was the WAVE SDF Macross... it's great - but - I would personally advise you to get the SV-51 Nora or Ivanov; or a VF-1. Sadly, I must say you should stay away from VF-Os because it's important you get some non-risk-of-breaking Valks to fall in love with them and then you can take the plunge, cross your fingers and be ready to buy 2 or 3 Zeros before getting a fault free one Welcome to...OBLIVION!! I think what they mean by 595K before taxes is that if you factor in the variouses costs they incurred in taxes (payroll/property/social security etc etc) then the loss would be even higher. However, the reason you give the figure "before taxes" is because taxes are fixed costs, like you said - everybody's got to pay them - if you gave the gross figure then everybody would just say "well how much of that is taxes?" so they give net loss figure instead. Oh well -this news doesn't effect me. Don't live in the USA no more; get all my anime via torrent... although there are Gundam Seed DVDs in Poland - haven't picked any up... don't know who put them on the market... and why only Seed....? I think we also have to realize that what we see of civilian life on MF is just a portion of it. I mean - Sheryll even notes in episode five that the city looks beautiful from above because you "can't see the slums." There are always people whose lot is not as good as they'd like it to be and who might be eager to "start over" and seek their fortune on a new colony world. Also - colony worlds no doubt are a source of raw materials and minerals. Even though MF is a "recyling" ship, the narrator does not say that it is 100% self-sufficient; just that it needs "minimal reloading" - so clearly there is still an important roll to be played by colony worlds. I understand the main thrust of the question - and I think the answer is: write some fanfiction exploring migration in the Macross universe VFTF1

So... I got to thinking; since Macross: Frontier is the 25th anniversary story, and has so many nostalgic themes... what would happen if it were translated and repackaged into english by Harmoney Gold in a manner similar to what happened to SDF M TV? Here's my take on: Robotech -Frontier! : VFTF1

Yes Hm. Sorry if my "review" came out too negative. By 'worse episode so far' what I really meant is that all of the other ones were better. I could re-watch episode 5 a million times and love it. The opening three episodes taken together are a great ark. Episode 6 has its' memorable moment when Alto and Sheryl say their goodbyes. Episode 7 is going to be forgotten quickly. It's the "fight scene." That's basically it. I mean - this might be just me - but when I think back to Macross SDF and 7, I don't really remember any of the Mecha battles because they all basically mesh into the same ol' same ol.' Macross 7 makes it bearable because I get to listen to Basara, and SDF TV makes it bearable because all of the Mecha battles are cut mid-way to "go back" to something happening in the city/ship/somewhere else... and that something "else" isn't as overly complicated as Ranka and Sheryl's conversation in the spacial mental plains of aether It's not a bad episode, not horrible - just not as love inspiring as the other ones. But after episode 7 I think all of the "Cathy is like Misa" speculation I've heard on other boards will stop. Misa had nerves of steel in battle, was willing to die numerous times for her mission and comrades, and never put out for guys unless it was true love. Cathy makes Bobby look like a Meldrani Warrior and puts out for Leon. case closed VFTF1
