Just an idle question, if I wanted to sell a MISB 1/48 Low Vis. Ver. 1, how much could I sell it for and how easily could I find a buyer?
-
I think that it is not unreasonable to ask for perfection when you spend $200 for a toy. Especially if it's not even a QC issue. The crooked gunpod was a production flaw, most every YF-19 had it. And I don't think the "most complicated toy Yamato ever made" argument cuts it. I have a Military Aquarion. It is bigger than my YF-19, heavier than my YF-19, much more intricate, way more complex, costs less, and has no errors in it whatsoever. All joints work, all the paint is good, all the markings are straight, etc, etc, etc... If Bandai can do it, I see no reason why Yamato can't adjust their production lines to match.

Is there a way to make metal repro parts? I have stress marks on mine. I've transformed it multiple times, but the marks are not severe. I got it Jan 6, 2007.

I posted a bunch of pictures and a review, you can check them out here.

C'mon Godzilla, we wanna know!

*sigh* Mine is on order from Action-HQ, but since I ordered it on Friday, it's still processing! I was gonna do Tisinc99, but Action-HQ was three dollars cheaper with 2-4 day shipping from Hong Kong. ANyhow, I expect it this Friday or Saturday, until then I'll have to be content with flying my hand! Shwoooo!

Could this be the first step for real vf´s???? lest just hope!
Chaos replied to maxi's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Eh, I guess I'll believe it when I see it, and not until. My sister is in aerospace, and I trust her when she says that there's no chance something like the YF-19 could actually fly. Something about parasitic drag. Furthermore, on an RC scale, there's literally no way you could give it enough power to get in the air if you had it loaded down with transformation mechanincs. So, my BS alarm is going off. -
That'll work, but isn't there a sheet for the stripes? Or is that just going to be an insane masking job?

Hey there, longtime Macross fan and MWF lurker, but I just registered less than a month ago and I've never posted outside of the Toys forum. Anyhow, I've been thinking about repainting my YF-19 into the blue Super Nova scheme, but I can't find a good scan of the decals to make a vector image off of. Can someone here make a scan for me? I'll trade them a set of vector based files in return. (AI, EPS, PDF, however you want them) I would be very grateful!

But, the Excalibur looks so much better with the wings foreward.

Yeah, I think this is another point for eugimon being right.

Classics Jetfire? Man, I want one of those.... Anyhow, check out this thread on TFW2005: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=117382 Personally, I think the lines need to be a tad lighter, but it friggin rocks!

Well, while we are on the issue of things that could happen, those GBP hands look incredible! If valks came standard with the posabel transforming hands, and a set of really nice looking mechanical fixed pose that would be great. Yamato already has the means to do it. And, while we are on the subject of pipe dreams that could never happen, I would love to see the 1/48 VF-1 or 1/60 VF-0 or YF-19 planes come in kit form. Basically, everything you get in a three figure toy, in a box, on runners, fresh from the mold. For those of use willing to put some hours of work into a kit, you could cut the cost of a Yammie at least in half. And, since Yamato has publicly admitted, with the inclusion of ABS canards in the YF-19, that people love to customize, they know they have a market for it.

I agree with the statement of Yamato making quality stuff. The only Yammie I've ever had broken was a YF-21 that it's right arm broke off. I admit, though, that I bought it only because it was half off because someone had stepped on the box, resulting in said damage. I've been trying to get some replacement parts for it, but Yamato turned me down hardcore.

That's a great start, Graham! I think you can get better resolution off Google Video, and they don't have a time limit, so it's concievable to do Fighter, Battroid, Gerwalk, Fighter, or whatever, all in one take. Also, that dog is rather annoying, is there an indoor well lit area you could film? It's not a deal breaker though. Better resolution would be rather nice. Looking forward to the next one!

I think it's great, even considering Isamu's lack of feet. When he's in the cockpit, there's no way you could see his feet anyhow, and considering the pose he's locked in, he has no business being outside of that seat. The gap on the backpack seems to be a time delay problem. Just give it a squeeze every now and again, and it's okay. The gunpod being crooked gives me a considerable amount of annoyance, but I imagine the removal of one of those pins, (probably either) would solve that problem. If this is the extent of the first run problems, then I have no reservations about my forthcoming purchase. The only thing that has me kinda concerned is the offset that the shoulders seem to have while in fighter mode. This may be because it was not pressed together firmly enough in that mode, or it may be a flaw. The pictures from Moeyo.com show a slight offset, though not as big as Graham's.

You're not alone. All the Live action models are like that. Have you guys seen the Scorponok off TFW2005? It's pretty nasty. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=116900

That's basically what I figured. I've never done it myself, but I imagine it wouldn't be hard to do. In fact, I could write up a guide right now on how to do it, specifically.

Awesome review Graham! Your pictures are very informative! I can't wait for mine to arrive!
-
So, does that mean you are posting your review on the 7th or the 8th? *anxiously waits*

I think it'd be more likely to be stolen if he just left it on the back seat.

I voted for the VF-4. The VF-2SS is really cool looking, but it's really just a pimped-out VF-1.
-
Dang, that really sucks! I hope that the cops find your guy. Also put a notice out to local pawn shops. That stuff doesn't do a thief any good unless they sell it.
-
I dunno, some people here seem to take a personal and vicious offence at a minor crit or question. Anyhow, I for one, am getting a launch frame. After seeing that picture from the Akihabara store, I knew I must have it. The 'flying battroid' poses are always the best. The valkries are active battle machines, and they should be posed in active stances.

How Does Shoji Kawamori Rate As A Mecha Designer?
Chaos replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
I like him, as a designer. The VF-1 is an incredible design, enduring to this day as a benchmark by which transforming mecha are compared. I totally dig the VF-4 Lightning, and I tout the YF-19 as one of the sexiest planes ever made. I would die a happy man if I had a figure of the SDP-1 Stampede Valkyrie. I own a Military type Aquarion, and I love it because it is the single most complex transforming toy I have touched. The GP-01 and the GP-02 are both great. I have almost all the Armored Core series, though that's mostly because of the game itself, though I own a few of the models, and a couple figures, and THAT's all about Kawamori. The THS-02 G1 Convoy was insanely cool, especially concerning it's size. There's really only one thing by Kawamori that I don't really like, and that's the MP-03 Starscream. It's not that I don't like what it is now, it's fine, I guess. What irked me about that figure was that Kawamori had the most perfect sculpt of Starscream, and THEN changed it. Other than that minor conflict of opinion, his stuff rocks! I should add to this, however, that I dig Hajime Katoki oh so much more.
