These were confirmed on Animeondvd as bootlegs that got into official distribution outlets like Yesasia, Koreandvds etc. If you don't mind buying the odd bootleg now and again then fair enough but at least be aware of what your buying first. I have no idea how this release compares to previous HK releases.

Thanks Mowe, i'm a big fan of Touch, i've seen around 10 episodes and it's one of my favourite tv series from the 80's. I kind of wished Animeigo had licensed it rather than Yawara but that's just my preference. I'll defintly post a glowing review of the show some time, at 101 episodes it might take me a while to get though all of it but i guess i could start with what i've seen so far. Thanks for the suggestion, i'll defintly do it very soon.

Same here, i'm so happy i found this since it's the first time i've been able to actually watch footage for OVA's i've been desperate to see. Watching footage for stuff like Scoopers, Maps and Fandora have made me more enthusiastic about seeing them than ever. My pick of the bunch has to be Scoopers though, it really does look like one fabulous rollercoaster of a ride (literally). The character designs are really cute and the most important aspect of the show is the characters are adults. Humanoid, Project A-ko, They Were Eleven, Bubblegum Crisis Yotoden are all available uncut on DVD. Although MD Geist is on dvd too, it's the director's cut which has been reanimated in certain places and some scenes have been changed/tweaked, i recommend fans pick up the original vhs release as seen below: Roots Search and Crystal Triangle are available on VHS too in Japanese with English Subtitles. Fandora has been released in a very limited dubbed only by Hiromasa Shibazaki in hopes of starting a commercial anime video market in the United States by mail order from Japan during the 80's but failed due to the lack of advertising, high price point and too few established fans in America at the time. Your chances of finding this are very small but neither should you particularly be encouraged to look since those who have seen it swear it to be notoriously bad. Scoopers, Maps (1987 original), Nayuta and Circuit Angel have unfortunately never been released in the US in any form. Overall i would say everything featured in this list is pretty much worth watching at least once especially the curious 80's fan.

In 1987 a Japanese theatrical and TV marketing company called Gaga Communications decided to try and break the US market by licensing and approaching a number of companies in the US which could be interested in aquiring the cutting edge animated shows from Japan. They put together a 37 minute reel of trailers with English subtitles for the dialogue and American voice narration for a brief synopsis of each OVA's plot. Their motivation in 1987 was to branch out and tap into a potentially large gap in the overseas market by being the first company to truly release Japanese shows in their original form with English subtitles. If OVA's were big sellers in Japan then their belief was that with the right support and marketing, companies would be able to sublicence from Gaga to generate a decent profitable business outlet to accomodate the small but growing number of fans in the US. In order to make a lot of titles seem more import friendly to the American market, Gaga decided to rename alot of the title original names. Also this looks nothing like Megazone 23 part 1, 2 or 3 I bet the appearance of the Garland is the only original reference. Ah well it's not like i buy videogames at all anymore.

Kimagure Orange Road: Jump Special OVA was created by Shonen Jump magazine in 1985 to test the waters for converting Izumi Matsumoto's popular manga into a TV series. The OVA was successful enough that the start of the production for a tv series began in 1986. This OVA is often referred to by fans as the KOR Pilot although it's slighty more than that. There are many major differences in staff, voice casting, music, and direction between the pilot film and the final TV series. In the year between, many changes were made, only the animation studio Pero and illustrator Takada were retained to work on the TV show which is why the transition was less than subtle. I've watched and enjoyed all that is Kimagure Orange Road including the TV series, movies and the OVA spinoff series but out of everything i've seen this is by far my favourite entry. The Jump Special OVA uses a much more direct style of story telling and there's no messing around or any delays with character development or story progression. This brings around a welcomed change in pace which should please alot of fans of the show. This was the only entry into the franchise not picked up by Animeigo, simply because the distribution rights belonged to a different company. I have no idea if the company persued it but i'm sure back int he 90's they at least made some enquiries into it. Alot of people dislike the differences seen in the Jump Special but i actually prefer most of them. In particular i really love and prefer the OST soundtrack plus the more cutesy character designs which give them a younger, more adoreable look. In one of the scenes your even see most of the cast in SD form for a few seconds which is a nice bonus. I do have a much higher quality version but it's with Spannish hard subtitles otherwise i could have combined the better source with the subtitles. If you thought Gundam Zeta was depressing then wait untill you see this amazing show. Attempted to be digitally fansubbed twice already, Anime Dreams the first in 2004, then Shin Getter in 2005, with only one episode ever been completed. This prompted ACR to go into unknown territory and start fansubbing the series ourselves. Bandai Visual are using HD masters to source from. The dvd will still play in standard definition but it will look cleaner and more vibrant due to the remastering. I'm sure a proper HD release on either HD-DVD or Blu-Ray will follow in a few years to come.

Defintly interested in both but then this is a Bandai Visual property and i can't help but feel both of these could get a US release some time in the future. I hope Manga Entertainment have lost the rights to Macross Plus already, the video quality on their dvd releases were terrible in comparison to the original R2 Japanese dvds. I hate to think how bad they will look with this new remastered version on the horizon.

Yeah 4 episodes on a DVD-5 will be fine considering Animeigo did the same with Macross. I hope we get some reviews posted soon.
