I'm rather surprised that nobody has pointed out that even the FBz-99 (previously described as being of Protodevlin/Protoculture design) is actually an "alienized" Northrom & Grumman/Mikoyan VAB-2D. http://macross.anime.net/mecha/varauta/variable/FBz99.html Grebo

Yeah, that's the one I'm looking for! That's an OK image, but I was hoping for a clearer one... Anybody got a better picture of that M3 flightsuit? (Huh. I note it's quite Macross 2036-looking. It's almost like M3 is Nue's 2036.) Thanks, Greeeeeeeeeeeeb

Thank you, grapetang! I appreciate the compliment. And don't worry, I'll be doing more. There are SO many Macross photoshop projects I wanna do... And as for the Refine Barzam -- nice pic of it! I loooove my Gundam Fix figure of that MS. Katoki is the man! I swear, I don't what the designer(s) of the original Barzam were thinking. Talk about ugly! And then to claim it's the mass-production version of the Gundam Mark II? I don't think so! Katoki's version really makes much more sense -- and lots so much sweeter. Mmm-mmm good! Grebo

Hey all, I dunno if this is old news to this site or not. However, for those who missed the April 2001 issue of Dengeki Hobby Magazine, they ran pics of this really nice variant Pheyos garage kit by Studio Half-Eye. It's quite sweet -- they added signature Q-Rau elements (like the antenna and missile pods) to the standard Pheyos. Badazzzzzz! Grebo

Woof woof, Heh! Well, I dunno about "my personal" VF... the VF-11MAXL is supposed to be a real machine. However, this is of course my take on it. And thank you for the compliment! Attached, now, is what I think is pretty close to the final product. Grebo!

Hey hey, So I understand Macross V0 has some new mecha in it -- specifically, some Q-Rau variants and the "Draug" (a Meltran battle pod). Anyone got any pics of these? Thanks! Grebo

Heyyyy, a fellow Cyberpunk 2020 player! (Have you seen the third edition? It SUCKS!) Anyway, you're talking about the AV-4 and its many variants. CP2020 generally referred to these pure-thrust flyers as AVs, but they did also call them Aerodynes (AV = Aerodyne Vehicle?). Although, technically, "aerodyne" is an awfully vague and broad term to use for such a specific type of vehicle. But yeah, these Pegasus-powered "flying trucks" were basically CP2020's "poor man's Spinners" (spinner = cool flying cop car from Blade Runner). In Cybergeneration, set 7 years later, actual Spinners were introduced -- they used some kinda super-fancy micro-engines. Anyway, I'm really enjoying this thread! I didn't expect such fascinating replies... I was really just expecting responses like, "Duh! Of course Battroids can fly, moron!" Nice to see my question wasn't as lame as I thought it might be. Grebo!

Ahoy, Yeah, this is probably a stupid question. Still, I'm gonna ask it. Can Battroids fly? I'm not talking about booster-assisted jumps, and I'm not talking about zero-G. I'm talking about sustained atmospheric flight. I'm pretty sure I've seen them do it in plenty of animated segments, but then again, I've seen a lot of Mobile Suits do the same thing -- and technically, regular Mobile Suits are not supposed to be able to fly in atmosphere. According to their specs, traditional MSs can perform rocket-boosted jumps and can (of course) fly in space, but in atmosphere? No. I'm fairly sure Battroids are supposed to be able to fly, but I just wanted to check. Thanks! Grebo

Yo ChrisG, Sorry to have offended you. I've actually contributed stuff to MAHQ before (such as the "O Gundam" material), and intend to do so again in the future. I actually think MAHQ is terrific -- but there are some errors and, as a spazzy geek, I get all worked up about them. Still, you're in good company; I mean heck, the number of errors and omissions in the MS Encyclopedias (published in Japan every few years) is mind-boggling! Grebo

Gunpod for VF-11B (from Mac+) pics?
grebo guru replied to grebo guru's topic in Movies and TV Series
Heyyyyyy, I tried integrating the Gunpod into a pic of the 11B in Battroid mode... I'm pretty happy with the result. I invite everyone to use it however they want. I mean, it's not like any of us here own the copyrights on these images! Grebo -
When I watched the first episodes of Macross 7, I was really enjoying it. It took me a while to get past the whole "VF with a face, controlled by a guitar" thing (and the "Max and Millia haven't aged much" thing), but eventually I came to like it. But the series became to repetitive, and in many ways devolved in creativity, that after about 40 episodes I was really unhappy. Whenever Basara's damn song started playing, I cringed. I was so sick of it. Still, M7 had its good points. I love the VF-17. I thought Bihida was kinda cool. (Sometimes.) I rather like the spaceship designs. A few episodes (the bigass "Gunpod Sigma through the windshield" episode and the "Max and Millia fly VF-22s and show everyone how it's done" episodes especially) were very good. Overall, I think I enjoy Macross 2 more, but not by a lot. The story is pretty weak and disappointing. The series overall is kinda boring and makes poor use of its good ideas. For me, they stack up like this: Macross 7: Many bad underlying ideas, poor characters. Some cool mecha and some horrible mecha. Macross II: Many good underlying ideas, poor characters. Some cool mecha and some horrible mecha. So I guess in the end, I gotta go with Macross II... but only by a hair. Grebo

Aha! While looking through one of my Armored Core books, I found a new head... It's on one of the rough designs, so AFAIK it hasn't appeared anywhere official. Conveniently, this head is quite well suited to being added to a Variable Fighter. Considering I've been wanting to give my VF-11MAXL a different head, this one will work nicely -- especially given that its head-credt/fin/thing would make a very nice single top stabilizer in Fighter mode. (Sigh... of course now I'm gonna have to modify the fighter mode pic. Again.) This, along with Graham's terrific image of the VF-11B gunpod (SO much nicer than that of the 11C), I think this MAXL is really coming along!!! Grebo

Gunpod for VF-11B (from Mac+) pics?
grebo guru replied to grebo guru's topic in Movies and TV Series
Yyyyyyyyyessss! Thank you, Graham! Ahhh, finally... Yo, Valkyrie, are the pics you have any different? Greeb -
Anyone have any good, big, clear pictures of the flightsuits and helmets worn by the pilots in Macross M3? Hi-res, b&w lineart would be best, but I'll take whatever anyone's got... Thanks! Grebo
-
Hmmm. Y'know... you're right. I should get rid of the vertical stablizers. Thanks for the suggestion. As for playing with the legs, well, I do need to modify the backs of the legs a bit to match the fighter mode, it's true. Edit: Okay, how about this?

Yeah... a Yamato toy of the VF-2SS would be mucho sweet. I can't imagine why Kawamori would say he hates the VF-2SS, but that's what I've heard. Maybe he's jealous! Anyway, here's a new color scheme I did for this sweet mech. Enjoy! Grebo

Glad you like, LoneWolf. I figure I oughtta give something back to the community, considering how many image requests I've been making... Greebles

Here's the Battroid and Gerwalk modes in color. Now all I need is a decent picture of the VF-11B's gunpod... Grebo!

I came up with a color scheme I like for the fighter mode. I'll do the Battroid and Gerwalk at some point too. Grebo

grebo guru replied to grebo guru's topic in Movies and TV Series
W00t! Graham and Valkyrie to the rescue!! I hope both o' you guys come through... Now I'm really eager to see if there'll be any difference. You guys rock. Thank you thank you! Now if you guys can actually scan the pics at hi res (300dpi @ 100% size) I can die a happy man... Thanks again. I can hardly wait! Grebo -
Ahoy, Attached is a colorized take on one of Miyatake's rough designs for a Zentradi battlesuit. It looks alot more like a Meltrandi model to me, so I'm referring to it as such. Anyway, here it is. Enjoy! Grebo

Arf arf! Well, I have the This is Animation Series : Macross Plus (OVA Movie) book... namely this one: http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/books/plus_movie_tia.htm And it doesn't have it. I don't own the other book... Perhaps it does have what I'm looking for. Anyone own this book? Thanks! Grebo -
Ahhhh, finished the Gerwalk mode. This is the one I'm least pleased with. I may redo it sometime. Anyway, here it is. Grebo
