I always wondered how a VF-1 would look with vertical stabilizers, suits it real well. Shows pretty well how heavily inspired it was from the F-14. Again, great job!

good job!! my 2nd attempt was horrendous Need a bit more work with your seam lines. it looks like you use a too low grit or sanded too much loosing some panel line detail. Hasegawa kits plastic are a bit soft so I use 400 and 600 grit for seam lines after filling with putty. Sometimes loosing panel lines details is inevitable, if they are straight, use some masking tape, an xacto knife and carefully rescribe the line to match. What's your next project?

+11111 that's a sexy beast.

Awesome! thank you. I was too afraid to get it and give it a go fearing I would not be able to understand and enjoy it.

haha, Yamatos promo pics were so bland, at least Arcadia gets a bit more dynamic with the poses now. Members here take awesome pictures. My Roy is on it's final way to me, hope to get it by saturday.

In Macross 7 the VF-11/17/19 all used special "atmospheric fast packs" But I guess the main reason FP like in the VF-1, VF-11 and specially the ridiculous packs on the VF-25 would have to be ditch in an atmosphere cause they would cause severe drag and affect maneuverability.

LOL, awesome cake!! umm.....Zor............................ way to ruin it.

i always thought the missiles were part of the FP and not the leg bay from that scene.

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force (Thread no.2)
Valkyrie addict replied to IXTL's topic in Toys
I don't have a VF-171 so I can't really comment on it's quality and on hands experience. I do like the design a lot. Eventough the VF-17 is far from perfect, I like it, the VF-17 is one of my favorite valks designs because it's based on the F-117A, I love how Yamato manage to make fighter mode as sleek as possible, I like battroid a lot even with it's skinny legs compromise I hope in the future Arcadia makes a v2 with better transformation and anime proportions. I do have to agree, the VF-17 engineering leaves a lot to be desired compared to the VF-19 that was made in the same time period. The VF-17 kicked serious ass in Macross 7 Dynamite- 1048 replies

During my many views of DYRL I came up with the conclusion that part of the great animation details they went into was how lighting affected the surroundings. DYRL goes into great lengths to present its 4 main story acts in very different areas with different lighting. First in space, dark lighting made the valk look dark grayish as well as the Regult that looked dark greenish. You can see how the explosions make the Regults look gold, how Max closeup looks white. How in the initial scene with Skull squadron taking off the valk look white and the shadows looks grayish. There are many scenes that you can see how the shadows make the valks look grayish but in clear lighting they look all white. I think the best place to see how they went into lighting affecting the valk colors is the Max and Millia dogfight, the stage is sortof at sunset with the ambient a yellowish washout making the sea look kinda of teal instead of light blue, as well as Max blue highlights, it doesn't look blue, it looks teal and the valk off white, but right at the moment when he enters the Meltrandi ship before Millia's ambush, before the light turn off, you can see the valk is clearly white with blue highlights. You can also see a nice animation detail when Kakizaki gets shot down, both Max and Kakizaki are in Hikaru comm view, when Kakizaki gets shot max looks to his right, where Kakizaki is, but in the comm view it looks like he's look away from Kakizaki instead of making him look into Kakizaki in the comm view that would be really backwards, a very common mistake I see a lot made even in Hollywood movies, DYRL did it right. Also, best way to end the white/gray/lighting valk is Misa's uniform, during the opening scene her uniform looks gray, like the valks, but in the next scenes where she's in the ship with good lighting, her uniform is the usual white. The off white was just a Yamato thing and I think Arcadia is correcting now because the DYRL Blue Ray show this detail better. On topic, my Focker is stuck in NY customs....whyyyyyyyyyyy???? Great review eriku, I'm happy to read Arcadia fixed the metal part off color to match. I detested that from the old Yammies.

the 1D has orange equivalent option parts as well as the 1A DYRL CF has brown option parts. No. Only the CF 1J has additional tampo, the regular CF brownies have the regular tampo.

The boxart designer probably the CEO's son or something, only good reason I can think of them continuing such uninspired boxart.

1/48+fp's, 1/60+fp's, 1/72, 1/2k, 1/3k,1/100 and now 1/144

Nice blue filter! -
I love MrK responses. Never says "no"

So gonna get this! For me 1/72 always felt too small and I never felt good enough to built and ruin a Club-M 1/48 ultimate detail kit.
-
Acadia! Y U give no boxart like Hasegawa!!!

Thanks! I knew I couldn't be that confused, bummer you can't tell what color you're gonna get from the super/strike parts. Guess it will be their new arcadia off white. I was referring to the Yamato's Super/Strike parts 30th anniversary reissue w/option parts, Not Arcadia's VF-1J 30th anniversary Thanks for the help guys. Sooo...is the Macross 30th PS3 game any fun?

We're expecting new announcement on February from Arcadia. Next VF-1 will probably still stick to popular hero valk, most like Hikaru's VF-1J, but everyone wants M&M.
-
Thanks, my pics are not the best but glad they're of some use. Of course I'll take comparison pics. Will do my best to show the color differences. Now I'm hungry too. No pics of the stand yet? you can see it behind the valk, its clear.

Looking real good, very nice!! After handling the VF-4G skinny and lonely body hinge I trust the wing hinge here to be just as effective I'm just curious if the wing hinge has a locking mechanism for staying into place and not flopping out after many transformations.

Got my shipping confirmation by HLJ. Usually takes me 3-4 days to arrive to the US and then 3 days to get to me. So I should have mine by end of next week.

Probably to lock with the forearm on fighter mode.
