  1. these toys just get better and better....
  2. hey...at least the update didn't say "Christmas 06". think how sad you would have been!
  3. Every once in a while I'll come across a comic book or anime store that still has these. However, most of the time i still see them the owner must think they are vintage or rare, because they are priced at way more than $15.
  4. from maporama decimal deg-min-sec latitude 37.369 37° 22' longitude -122.017 -122° 1' w00t! sunnyvale, CA
  5. HOLY SMOKES! who built that minmay in the red dress? that looks incredible!
  6. nope. sure doesn't!
  7. IIRC, people have been asking for a variable toy of that particular mecha, for years. there's a number of reasons it hasn't, and probably won't ever be made.
  8. if by "toy" you mean a transformable toy of the Macross II valkyrie akin to something by yamato or bandai, then the answer is "no".
  9. Thanks EXO. The paint in question is on the notches of the arm armor closest to the hand. In fighter mode, in which I now keep my 1/48 Hikaru, the paint is not visible.
  10. Nah...not trying to save any stickers. Just want to get that paint off the armor. About how long should should I leave the parts in Pinesol?
  11. I have a 1/48 armor set that I may or may not want to customize. However, I'm not decided on that and I may just put the armor on my 1/48 VF-1A Hikaru. However the previous owner of the armor tried to customize it by adding green highlights with paint on the arm armor as part of a "DYRL Super VF-1A Kakizaki" project. Does anyone knwo of a good way to remove that paint w/o damaging the armor?
  12. DOH! Busted the heat shield on my VF-1A that I want to get customized. If anyone has a spare heatshield out there I would appreciate it.
  13. Okay...if your Macross addiction has gotten to the point where you will pay that much for an out-of-date calendar, you seriously need help.
  14. Wow....I hadn't noticed how much traffic this auction had generated. Since I was the lucky winner of this auction, let me add some fodder for this conversation. 1. The diorama was not part of the auction. It was just used to display the toy. 2. The valk was indeed painted with TEAL highlights and a GREEN heatshield. However, I knew this going in and was not surprised by the colors. 3. The TEAL highlights were very poorly done. Looks like someone took teal Tamiya paint right out of the bottle (w/o diluting or mixing) and hand applied it to the Valk and did not use masking tape. The teal paint spills over. 4. The Armor set was thankfully complete. 5. I've already sent a PM to one of our local customizers to see if he is interested in either 1) cleaning up the butchered paint job or 2) doing a custom paint job. I'll put some pics up later.
  15. I would wait. Kevin is usually on top of these things, and that price point seems a little high. I know I am going to order two of them. I am ordering 3 GBP's now! thanks for the heads up!
  16. is the HLJ pre-order with a 5% discount worth the purchase? or should i wait for one of our reliable macrossworld dealer to start taking pre-orders?
  17. w00t!
  18. kurt, you rock! well done!
  19. that fancy-shmancy, battleship yamato you are referring to was the BPX-01 Soul of Popynica Yamato by Bandai. rumor is, they are going to make a better version of the Yamato. so I guess Bandai could produce a very detailed SDF-1 if they wanted, but the question is, would they see enough profit potential in the japanese market to go through the whole process of design, prototypes, marketing, and sales.
  20. please put me down for one (1) conversion kit! thanks!
  21. hi gang, my buddy is living over in japan right now and he's due to leave soon. however, before he leaves, he's agreed to get me anything i want provided 1) i pay him in advance and 2) he can find it for sale, 3) it's not illegal, and 3) i don't make a ridiculously long list for him. like, he'll go to a number of shops he knows, but he's not going to run around japan looking for things i want. i'm limiting my request to those things that are really hard (or expensive) to come by here in the states. so far, i've only got a low viz and two transformers on the list. so i guess my question, if you were in my position, what rare macross toy (or non-macross, but, really, i want to focus on macross) would you ask him to buy for you? this is such a rare opporutnity for me, and i'm freaking out that after this is all said and done i'll think of something that i really wanted or didn't think of before. tops...i'm looking at 5 or 6 things for him to look for. [mods..sorry if this is in the wrong place...please tell me where it should go]
  22. The website for this con says that Mari's apperance has been "cancelled" and that they hope to have her back in 2006.
  23. It doesn't look right, because that auction is for a photo-chop. That's Jennifer's head, on a Playboy playmate's body (Alley Baggett). While Jennifer did do a partial nude for a Rolling Stones cover, and one can see how that bidder might have thought the picture in that auction came from the Stones shoot, the lighting from each respective shoot is much different. Not to mention the glaring skin tone difference. IMHO, the signature is also a fake or simply a reprint. There's just no way Jennifer signs such an picture.
