Ha! But I was thinking "why is he fighting Karas?"
-
Agreed 100%. We can only hope the Henkei version actually looks even half as good as the third Cyclonus in the picture you posted.

I just got back from the Post Office to pick up my Henkei Thundercracker, and I'm sad (and angry) to report that mine has the same missile launcher/arm issue. I don't even think clear nail polish can fix this one. The launchers just fall right out, as if they were never intended to go there. I placed them on my Starscream, Acid Storm, and (US Target) Skywarp, and they fit nice and snug. This thing is a defect. And to make matters worse, one of his arms is so loose that it feels like it's dangling by a thread. I tried to tighten the screws, but it had no effect. And one of his wings falls backwards in robot mode due to weak joints. But what really gets me is the sloppy/smeared paint on mine. I bought this thing (and paid 7x what he's worth) FOR the paintjob. I couldn't believe it when I found nasty silver smears on his legs and missing paint on his face. This toy looks gorgeous in the packaging, but that's all. Thundercracker is simply cursed.

I am not posting this. ::whistles::

And they are up at HLJ. Thanks for the pics, otherwise I wouldn't know what I was preordering. http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN954189

Despite how relatively crappy they look, Hasbro gets points in my book for the GGG homage. "SYMMETRICAL DOCKING!!!"

Macross Frontier Final Episode Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*

Okay, I just watched the finale again for the 4th time (this was the first time through with subtitles). Now that I've had plenty of time to absorb it all, I am now completely convinced that some of you were watching some other show. Because this was/is absolutely AMAZING. -
Seriously, I hope it's not a clip show. That would be so disappointing (though Macross Plus the movie is better than the OVAs in some ways). A DYRL-style reimagining would be okay, I suppose (and clutter up and confuse the timeline more) but I'd prefer an actual continuation of the current show. But that seems to not be trendy in anime. :sigh: Kawamori, especially, loves these retellings. Look at DYRL, Escaflowne, Aquarion...
-
Well, technically we did get to see her... a picture of her, anyway. That was more than I was expecting.

I still have to go with the original for "best series," but Frontier is EASILY my second favorite Macross show. This filled the need I've had for most of my life for a sequel that lives up to the original. If I had to put them in order (highest to lowest): SDF Macross/DYRL/Flashback 2012 Macross Frontier Macross Plus Macross 7 Macross Zero Macross Dynamite 7 Macross 2 And now my heart breaks as I realize more than half of that list will never see the light of day outside of Japan. But that's a depressing topic for another thread.

Kawamori didn't HAVE to set it up. It's most likely the number 1 question he is asked at conventions, by staff members, fans, etc. He almost seems annoyed when answering "what happened to Minmay??" these days. This was his way of saying "yes, guys, I'm aware you old schoolers are clamoring for some Minmay answers. Not this time, but I am aware." That's my interpretation of it, anyway. I do wish Dick had much more screen time. -
Macross Frontier Final Episode Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*

Incredible episode. Was it rushed? Yes. And I suspect that had a lot to do with the obsessive "25" thing going on for the series. The last five episodes felt a bit crammed and on speed. Was there a distinct lack of resolution to the love triangle? Perhaps. But honestly, Alto's true love was always the sky. His love for that far exceeded everything, including his "duty" to his father and the two beautiful women that he always deeply cared for. More importantly, the three are closer friends than ever as a result of the events here. The open-ended nature of the romance could potentially be resolved in the film adaptation, or it could not. ::shrug:: Either way, I'm more relieved that (almost) everyone made it out alive and well. I was convinced that Ozma, SMS, Klan and Luca were goners for sure. All in all, this was the finest Macross series since the original, and truly the sequel I've been craving since the 80's. I'm trying to understand all the nerd RAGE going on on multiple forums, but it just isn't registering. In fact, before I watched this last night, I received a phone call from a good friend who had watched the live stream. "Don't even bother watching it – you'll be so disappointed!" he said, knowing how much this show means to me. I instantly felt a sickness in my stomach and thought this was going to be a Tomino ending. Imagine my relief when I finally saw it. I'm still waiting for the "disappointment" to kick in. Nope. Sorry. Not happening. I have nothing but love in my heart for this one. There were so many nods to the fans throughout this series that I began to realize something: WE are Richard Bilrer. Sort of like the Flower Girl in Macross 7, he is a personification of us - the viewer/the old school, diehard fans of the original; the people who ALWAYS ask Kawamori "Where's Minmay? Will we ever hear from her again?" We are on this quest to find out what happened to our dear friends on the Megaroad-01. It's nice to see that there's an in-universe character who is also on the same journey. I think this was Kawamori's way of saying "they are out there, and I know you guys miss them. Perhaps some day." Bilrer hoping to see Minmay is very similar to US wanting to see her. And getting that little glimpse of her in the locket was Kawamori's acknowledgment of that. -
Okay, thanks to OverDrive, I think I have an answer: Sheryl, Ranka, Klan Klan!! All your favorite characters from Macross Frontier will be released as part of this "Nyan Call" trading card box by Bandai. Will come in a box of 10 packs with 10 cards in each pack. To be a total of 90 cards with 75 normal , 11 special, 4 Galaxy special cards in all. Special cards will include among others a Klan Klan autographed card in the Zentradi language. Please note as cards are randomly inserted buying a full box will not guarantee a complete set. To be released in mid December. http://www.over-drive-inc.com/store/produc...products_id=849 So we're looking at a box of trading cards, then. Not sure if I'll bite. Not my thing, really.

Macross Frontier News Thread IV *Read 1st post*
crasis replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
This is all nonsense. There's no way the ENTIRE cast is going to die off. Kawamori isn't Tomino. I expect some serious tragedy, sure, but this entire show would be utterly pointless if absolutely everyone is destroyed. -
ME! Seriously, Save, if you would do this I would be forever grateful! I was so disappointed when Yamato originally canceled those trading figures years back, and have been hoping to figure out a way to get them. I have Priss in hand and the other 3 Knight Sabers on preorder at LAF toys. What's the deal with this? You have to mail in proof of purchase from all 4 motoslaves, correct? I am absolutely in!

Yeah, I'm loving the VFX 11 scheme, as well. I preordered that bad boy. But I've never been a fan of the "easter egg" 19. Yuck.
-
I wasn't going to get this, but my love for the character (particularly in the last couple of episodes) won out over reason. Speaking of which, I just received my Kamina (Gurren Lagann) 1/8 PVC from Eye Up, as well (AMAZING piece, but that sucker had an even more damaging pricetag!), so she won't be completely lonely in that scale on my shelf.

I would buy every variation. I love this baby.

Not a stupid question, especially since there are no photos on HLJ at the moment. But yes, those are the same ones. I'm hoping to get at LEAST Alto, Ranka, Sheryl and Brera in my box of 6. Hopefully this isn't as random as the keychain sets...! And ditto on the shirts! Though I may be tempted to get 1...

Preorder is up at HLJ for the HGIF Macross F Characters! http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN955554 6 in a box. I REALLY hope 1 box gets you at least the 4 main characters.

I still keep hoping that one day I'll click on this thread and see pictures of a King Kittan (Gurren Lagann) Revoltech. Or GaoGaiGar, ChoRyuJin, Mic Sounders the 13th or any of enormous cast of amazing super robots from the Brave series. Or pretty much anything new from Macross. I'll keep dreaming..

I was about to say basically the same thing. I am quite intrigued.
