  1. There aren't nearly enough Orguss toys out there. I love the old Takatoku Orgroid and even the tiny Megahouse Orgroid, but there needs to be some choices between those. I'd love to see what Bandai or even Yamato would do with the license.
  2. The following is more of a concern/preference more than a complaint or bitching. Am I the only one who isn't very keen on automorph or any automatically transforming mechanisms? I mean, yeah it's cool that they can do that, but for me it takes away a LOT of the fun of a transformer. A large part of why I like transforming toys is because I enjoy sitting there and fiddling with them and changing them from one mode to another. It's like a rubiks cube thing or something. When parts or even the whole toys transforms by itself I tend to feel let down. The most recent example of this is Animated Starscream. I knew going into it that it had an extensive automorph, but I still picked one up yesterday because it does look cool. But the damn thing really does almost entirely transform itself. You start moving some parts in jet mode and, BAM, it's a robot. Another issue with Starscream and the automorph is that I think a lot of the sculpt was sacrificed for this. His legs, or more specifically the thighs, are downright terrible and aside from weird articulation and loose joints (the lower left leg falls off at the slightest touch) I can't get the legs in a position that doesn't look like he has polio. So, hearing that this new Alternity line has auto-transformation really, really makes me lose a lot of interest. Yes, the most important aspects are still how they look in alt and bot mode, and articulation, but for me the FUN lies in figuring out how to get them to and from those modes. Even if I bitch about something being fiddly or taking a long time to transform, I still like to figure it out. Rant over.
  3. Yep, I'll probably be getting both of those over the US counterparts.
  4. Isn't he awesome? He's easily my favorite animated toy so far. Do you have any problem sliding the arms in? A lot of people aren't able to slide the arms up all the wayin bot mode and have been opening them up to trim away plastic. Mine are very tight but luckily I haven't had to do any surgery.
  5. T28 and Ox are looking mighty fine. Thanks for the link!
  6. Can't see much for detail, but from that pic I like the proportions so far. And do I spy a Classics Ironhide in there? Lots of good stuff coming!
  7. It increases his knee articulation. It's really simple, takes a minute and is completely reversable if you don't like it. If you look at Prowl's thighs you'll see a gold panel on the outside of each one. This panel prevents the knees from making their full range of motion. All you have to do is remove the screw from each one, pry the panels off, swap them (left panel on right thigh, right panel on left thigh) turn them upside-down and screw them back on. Doesn't get in the way of transformation or anything else and gives Prowl better knees. Best of all it's simple, non-invasive, quick and reversible.
  8. I completely understand. I was one of the folks who originally balked at the first images of TFA. I was immediately turned off and a little shocked, and my reaction was to just make fun of it. Once TFA became more of a reality and after I watched the first episode and started looking at the toys, my dislike vanished. I'm not sure why my strong reaction against it would so quickly dissipate, but that's how it is. Also interesting is that same phenomenon didn't happen for me with Beast Wars. I instantly was turned off and distracted by the CG and character designs and even after watching several episodes and checking out some toys it never went away, and I still feel that aversion to Beast Wars. There are some random characters and toys here and there that I like but on a whole I can't stand it. I know it has a huge fanbase though and I'm happy those folks are getting some nods with Animated.
  9. I was going to hold out on Prowl and wait for the armored version but I couldn't resist getting an Animated fix when I was at Target yesterday. I'm very happy I picked him up, he's easily one of the best TF figures ever made (as most people have already said). His proportions and parts fit in both modes is excellent and his articulation is fantastic. It's not quite at the level of Classics Mirage, but it's damn good. This guy is top notch hand-candy. I even enjoyed doing the thigh modification (I love mods that just require a screwdriver). I wasn't going to get all of the Animated toys but now that their numbers are growing on my shelf I can't help but think how cool it would look to see them all together. I typically don't feel that way with toy lines, but these Animated guys have so much character and personality and they're so well done that you almost expect them to start moving on their own and have little battles.
  10. For me the 1/55 is the bestest and most perfectest rendition of the VF-1. Everything else is just tasty, tasty gravy.
  11. Dammit man! Now that you've pointed that out all I can see is a pile of crap when I look at the 1/60. Back to the drawing board, Yamato. Maybe in five more years you'll be able to make a valk toy that doesn't look like such an abortion. I couldn't make it through the day without sarcasm.
  12. That makes me feel guilty for buying a voyager Bulkhead a couple of months back from Ebay. I had no idea there was that big of problem.
  13. My wife and I both thought it was hilarious that the military could throw anything at the Hulk and not hurt him, yet when he tries to stand up in a cave and bumps his head on the rock he reacts in pain and discomfort.
  14. I forgot to mention that I bought Grimlock from TARGET. They had an end cap with nothing but Grimlocks, Lugnuts and movie Starscreams on it. Didin't see any other Animated voyagers or any Animated basics, but Target is officially putting Animated toys out now.
  15. I really wanted to like Classics Grimlock but I actually think it's the weakest/worst figure in the entire Classics line. I think he looks particularly bad from the waist down. It's still looks a lot better than that Energon version, though. I just noticed on the box that it says "Detachable Flame Breath" indicating the sword. Was part of the sword originally meant to plug into Grimlock's mouth I wonder?
  16. I picked up a Cybertron Prime and a Grimlock over the weekend and I'm very pleased with both of them. Prime has a little paint slop on the side of his face, but I guess i've gotten to the point where that kind of thing doesn't bother me much on a cheap toy, especially when the toy is as fantastic as this one. I do think the alt mode is a little uninteresting, but it's still attractive. Bot mode is truly great, as everyone has been saying. Lots of articulation, looks awesome in all kinds of poses, etc. Grimlock is a hell of a lot of fun, and is easily my favorite Grimlock toy ever. The transformation is simple, basically the same as G1 Grimlock. There is something very satisfying about the way his torso slides up and clicks into place. Not sure why but it really made me smile. The articulation is good in both modes, although dino mode would benefit slightly from rotating dino arms. But they're just little atrophied things anyway I guess. Although his arms in bot mode have limited articulation it is still easy to get him into lots of great poses. He's one of those figures I can't figure out which mode to keep him in because they both look so great. The one thing I would have changed is for his head to be articulated at the neck so it can pivot up and down. It seems they left that out in favor of the jaw-chomping button. The jaw is fun (I'm fond of speaking to my wife through toys whenever I find one with a moving mouth, like Sweetums from the Muppet line) but I think I'd rather have the articulation. Great, great toy line so far. Can't wait to pick up Jazz and Voyager Prime.
  17. Even though I'm one of the few who actually liked Ang Lee's Hulk, I did like this new one better, mostly because of Norton. And the set-up for the Avengers really made the audience cheer. I'll echo what other people have said, great but not as great as Iron Man. Too bad none of the toys for either film are very appealing.
  18. I'm gonna paint the afterthought latch yellow on mine. And technically speaking I think it's referred to as the AL-9.
  19. For some reason the only word that comes to mind when I look at that picture is "toit". I blame Graham.
  20. Dear Yamato, Yes, fine, we get it, it looks better than the 1/48. Now just release the damn thing so we can give you all our money. Sincerely, Everyone
  21. Heh, not the first time BBTS listed the wrong maker for a toy I guess.
  22. I'd like to know that about the two-pack figures as well. I really want both of them but the 'battle damage' turns me off and isn't something I can ignore.
  23. What's this? I didn't know Yamato was making Tachis... http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;mode=retail It comes with a towel. For zen posing?
  24. That pic alone is enough reason for anyone to get a Tachi toy.
