Ha! I knew Wink looked familiar! The tooth fairies reminded me of the Isz from the Maxx comic book/cartoon.

Saw it last night with my wife, we're both pretty big Hellboy fans. Loved the first movie, loved the second one even more. The scene was like a perfect update of the scene from Star Wars. Thought there was some solid character development throughout, and the ratio of action, comedy and drama was perfect for this kind of movie. Del Toro has always been a favorite of mine and I am thrilled that he's on board for the Hobbit. As for playing , I unfortunately knew beforehand and all I could think of was the . Didn't detract from the movie for me though, it just made his character funnier. He didn't really have any -style moments until the end when he said

I totally understand everyone's criticism of Silverbolt, but for some reason I LOVE how he looks and he's the one I'm most looking forward to. Maybe it's because he looks like a G1 brick, only with lots of articulation. Kind of like how I wanted my transformers to move when I was a kid. I wouldn't want all transformers to look like that, but I really dig seeing this one. I'm glad the Japanese version isn't that different otherwise I'd be tempted to get that one. One thing that I'm disappointed about with Silverbolt is that they should have taken the opportunity to make a new set of Arielbots. I bet some crafty customizers out there will use Silverbolt as the base for a new Superion. Powerglide hasn't looked good to me once yet, and I don't think his character or that mold is worthy of the size. He should have been a deluxe.

The Tick vs Season 3---ever coming out in the US?
eriku replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Sheesh...I'm tempted to get the R2 versions now. -
Well, using the SOC toys as an example again, they're typically absolutely loaded to the gills with extra parts and accessories - almost too many sometimes. It's possible Bandai will use that same approach with the Macross F chogokins and pack in the fastpacks. Personally I think the lower price point suggests a bare-bones release, but you never know. It's not like fastpacks are complicated or large extras, so they should really cost that much. I've always thought Yamato's fast-pack sets were grossly overpriced for what you get, expecially for the YF-19.

I really hope the Silverstreak repaint isn't plagued by the same problem.

Very tempting to order from Over-Drive, especially after hearing about so many people getting great service from them. Oh well, I'll probably just stick with BBTS. That way I can return the thing more easily if it's got any problems.

Hmm...those are...well...I guess at least they're basic transforming toys and not like a ball with a picture of Bumblebee on it or a squishy Prime head that squirts water.

Not a bad coupon, but it looses it's luster when you factor in the cost of the Happy Meal, both to your pocketbook and to your health.

But Bandai has made similarly complex toys before. The Aquarion and Gunbuster are nothing to sneeze at. Many of the transforming Soul of Chogokin toys have intricate yet sturdy mechanisms in them. Bandai are certainly not newbies to this, and it's not like this Macross bird is the pinnacle of complication where transforming mechs are concerned. I don't expect this toy to be perfect, no toy is, but I am going into it with full confidence that Bandai will deliver a quality product with minimal to no QC problems. I trust them based on all of their high-end toys that I have. Also, I do think it would be nice if Yamato shared the MF license just so more people could be happy, and because it's always nice to have more options.

The Tick vs Season 3---ever coming out in the US?
eriku replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It damn well better come out. I wish they would have just released the entire series in one box to begin with. In toy-related news, there is supposedly a Tick figure in the works by Shocker Toys. I don't think they've shown anything yet, but their sculpts for The Maxx looked pretty good when theyshowed them off a few months back. -
That was a problem, but that's just one in a L O N G line of toys that are, for the most part, perfect upon launch. Hardly comparable to Yamato's track record. One of the main reasons Bandai's high-end toys are so beloved is because they can be counted on for extremely high quality.

Heh, I just got a raise today which will easily feed my Macross habit for the rest of the year.

Wow...for once BBTS is actually a little cheaper than HLJ+EMS. HLJ = ~107 + ~40EMS......~147 BBTS = 129 + ~10 UPS....~139 I wonder if BBTS will up their price to remedy that.

I difinitely want one in Low-Viz grey.

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
eriku replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It says: "Due to lack of interest in Japan, all plans for "2-seater" 1/60 valkyrie toys such as the VF-1D have been postponed indefinitely." So if you want a 1/60 VF you'll just have to get one of the old ones where the transformation requires you to pull on the leg. Just like I'm pulling yours. -
Really? I haven't seen one on the shelf since around Xmas time. Personally I think it looks terrible and I wouldn't even take one for free, but it seemed to be a good seller around here, even at the high price point.

EMS was around $40 for me, too. Made the Angelbirds seem not as cheap, but relatively speaking it's still a steal.

Glad to hear the new Classics are hitting more places. I'm very tempted but I'll most likely wait for the repaints as I like Silverstreak better than Prowl and Sideswipe better than Sunstreaker. I don't think I'll get Octankor, he kind of looks like butt in all three modes.

Maybe I'm just tired of Roy, he's been the focus of my Macross collection since the beginning.

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
eriku replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I hate to continue derailing the thread with another "cowabunga!", but I concur on the Neca TMNT figures being EASILY the best action figures of 2008. Hell, I may like them better than most figures from 2007 and 2006, too. As for the new 1/60, there's no way I'd consider it in a 'best' category unless the category was "Best Unnecessary Remake". -
Got my Angel from HLJ a few weeks ago, it's a sweet price for a very sweet bird. It may not be as iconic as a Roy 1S, but I ended up liking it better.

Yeah, I have my fingers crossed that there are some nice metal ratchet joints on this thing like some SOC toys have. They make such a soothing sound.
-
Dang, I wish GSC would make that Motoko figure available by herself.

If you're referring to the pics of Yellow's blue ride armor that were just posted, no, it's not from Beagle, it's from CM's.
