"I just soiled my armor I was so scared!" "Oh! I did it again!" Sorry, that's all I could think of in regards to the Ride Armors having poo-holes.

I picked up a Snapdragon sans head from an antique store a few weeks back. I really want to get his head but I haven't seen one on Ebay yet. Do you guys know of any source other than Ebay and TF forums (which I've also tried) for a Headmaster head?

Hell, I prefer the ENTIRE 1/55 design. I'll still be getting the 1D when it comes out. Unless Bandai announces a 1/55 1D, then I'll have to get that instead.

In regards to Catwoman, do you think Nolan would want to visit her character or do you think he'd want to keep his distance because of the recent horrible Catwoman movie? As for a return of the Joker, I'd like to see what Johnny Depp could do...

Looking for a good sci-fi/fantasy book
eriku replied to Morpheus's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Have you seen the Earthsea anime and would you recommend it? I haven't checked it out yet. It's too bad Hayao didn't get his wish long ago to direct it, although I would assume he was able to give Goro some help on it. I remember reading an interview where Hayao said he kept or used to keep a copy of Earthsea at his bedside. -
Yep, and a Cheetor.

Looking for a good sci-fi/fantasy book

Check out the Earthsea series by Ursula K. LeGuin. It's a very well-constructed fantasy world that manages to have a lot of originality. It was also a source of inspiration for Miyazaki, and anything that inspires Hayao Miyazaki has to be good, right? I also immensely enjoyed the His Dark Materials trilogy. While it may not be the type of fantasy you're looking for, I found the Series of Unfortunate Events books to be surprisingly enjoyable and addictive. -
Finally came across some Classics 2.0 today and since I'm waiting for Silverstreak and Sideswipe repaints, that left me with Tankor. I haven't liked what I've seen of him in pics, aside from a couple pics with alternate bot modes, so I bought him against my better judgement. I wish I would have listened to my instincts and left him on the shelf because I really dislike this thing. I WANT to like it because I think he looks kind of cool in bot mode, but there's too much that bugs me. Tanker mode just looks terrible and if it weren't for the wheels and cab it wouldn't look like anything. Plane mode is tighter fortunately, although the wings do look a bit silly. The giant claw makes a terrible...anything. In bot mode his arms just don't look good in any position. Worst of all the head-reveal gimmick on mine seems to be faulty and his head stays just barely sunk into his chest in a crooked fasion with his face tilted up. I know it's an enormous challenge to design a triple-changer, and lord knows I wouldn't be able to do it, but pretty much everything about this figure screams "half-assed" to me. I'm hoping he'll grow on me and I'll learn to love him.

I thought it was mostly enjoyable throughout, although I have to be honest and say Heath Ledger/The Joker made up for about 90% of my enjoyment. But all in all I really did enjoy the film. I have to say I enjoyed Iron Man, Hulk and Hellboy more and had a better feeling walking out of the theater after those, but then again Heath Ledger's performance smoked pretty much everyone else in any of those films. God damn he will be missed.

No kidding. Target recently put a bunch of toys on clearance this week but the Real Gear toys seem to be the only Transformers pulled for clearance. They really should have clearanced them all, including all of the Desert Brawl toys that are taking up valuable Bulkhead and Megatron space.

Yeah, it's been rather dry around here too. I'm thinking it's because of all the movie figures that are still hanging around and once they're gone the Animated and Universe toys will get a bigger push.

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
eriku replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
When I'm severely impatient for something I usually go with HLJ + EMS. I pay extra for the stress-relief. -
I saw that at TRU and was very tempted to get it, but decided against it because of the wonky proportions. If no other transforming versions of WALL-E come along I'll probably end up tracking one down.
-
I'd LOVE to see some new Headmasters. Real Headmasters, unlike that silly magenta thing that comes with Animated Bulkhead (true to the show though it may be).
-
Then it is not the "ultimate" WALL-E toy!
-
I can't watch videos at work and I'm impatient to know, so I'll just ask - does the Ultimate WALL-E toy transform? I think the current toys look nice, but I'm holding out for one that transforms, is nicely articulated and detailed and looks good in both modes (even if one mode is just a cube). This was easily the best movie I've seen so far this year, among many other greats. It's also easily the best sci-fi movie I've seen in the last ten years, maybe more.

That actually just made me change my mind on Octankor. Now I want him. Thanks for helping more cash out of my wallet, David.

Picked up the first wave of Activators and they're all pretty neat little toys. The plastic is surprisingly high quality and the automatic transformation doesn't detract from them quite as much as I thought it would. I still prefer manual transformations, but the 'push of a button' gimmick on these doesn't really sacrifice much in terms of sculpt and articulation. Starscream is downright fantastic easily the best toy of the three. I actually like this version far more than the Deluxe. He has tons of articulation, and his alt mode looks great from the top. Bottom of the jet has some arms just hanging there, but it's a small price to pay for such a great bot mode. He's even got a set of retractable landing gear in the rear to keep him level. If you're someone that likes to shave down parts for improved articulation, like I am, make sure to transfrom this guy first. He comes in bot mode and while I was posing him I noticed there was a tab behind each knee that prevents them from bending a full 90 degrees. I grabbed an exacto knife so I could shave them down but decided to transform him first, and that's when I realized the tabs lock into the back of the jet to hold his legs in place in alt mode. Without them they'd just sit there loosely. Bumblebee also has some great articulation and a solid looking alt mode, suffering only from a couple things: side panels that don't peg into anything so they are easily displaced, and big black hinges on the rear that are necessary for his arms. Like Starscream I tend to like this version better than the deluxe, at least in bot mode. He has a slight G1 look to him, almost more so than Classics Bee. I absolutely love that his scale fits really well with voyager Bulkhead. Bulkhead is the one I wanted to like the most but he doesn't fare as well as the other two. In bot mode he's got some monster gaps when viewed from the side, and just doesn't feel as solid as the other two, nor is he as articulated. The lesser articulation is forgivable I suppose since his proportions are stubbier than the other two. He still looks cool though, especially when viewed from the front. Alt mode actually looks really good from most angles. I LOVE how they made the large hinges on each side more attractive by cleverly making them look like cannons. While that detail was cleverly worked out, others were overlooked or designed poorly. The worst of them is they cheaped out and went for sculpted wheels for the middle wheel on each side. This wouldn't be so bad if the sculpted wheel didn't sit higher than the other spinning wheels, so it just screams "Look at me, I'm a fake wheel!" It actually would have looked better if they had just skipped the middle wheel completely. One other small problem is his light bar. Where it should be green in the middle and red where the lights are, they painted it in reverse so the middle is red and the lights are bare green plastic. I'm sure they did this because the middle is where the activator button is and they wanted the button to be red. Not a big deal, but it does look weird. While they all have their little problems, I really dig these little guys. They occupy a whole new realm and scale in the TF world between Legends and Deluxes. Yeah, the last thing we needed was a whole new scale but that doesn't make the toys any less great. I can't wait for the next wave and I hope they're able to figure out how to do Grimlock in this style.

Probably a good move for Nintendo, but personally I use the GBA slot a LOT, so it doesn't interest me.

I would be all over the VF-25F(rog) if it were painted in a green and white scheme. Keroro valk FTW!

Hah, I actually just started reading Artemis Fowl a few days ago as one of those forced lending things (a friend gave it to me saying I had to read it). So far I don't really like it, but I would like to see Del Toro's vision of the Fairy Underground.
-
Mignola: I'd push back a little to show when I had my doubts, but then I'd go: "Del Toro knows what he's doing. I'll get out of his way." Yeah, sounds like he's pretty upset.

I see clouds. Clouds of feathers.

Well, I for one would love to see an "alternative uses" thread for the fold booster.

I paged through the Art of Hellboy II book at the local comic book store here and it's pretty cool. There are some critters in there that I don't remember seeing in the film. One of which is called a "Strider" and it looks almost exactly like the Striders from Dark Crystal.
