  1. I would be happy if it's made with the same material as the Palm Action Orguss - that thing is constructed remarkably well for being so tiny. Seems to have a decent amount of POM in it, too. Hopefully Bandai decided to use POM in the 1/100. Light yet very, very strong.
  2. Many of them have thin plastic, actually. Regardless, thin plastic doesn't equal poor plastic. It sounds like you are saying stresses and breaks are perfectly acceptable in the name of anime accuracy. As for the screw thing on the DX 25, what is the point of bringing that up? There have been far, far more problems with Yamatos plastic than there have been with the VF-25 screw. Aside from that, it's just not a good comparison because they are different materials and a screw isn't a part of the structure of the toy. It holds pieces together, and if it breaks it can be replaced. If a part of the structure of the toy breaks, it's broken and it will always be broken even if you slather it with glue. I'm not appoligizing for Bandai here, but lets put things into perspective: screws that break are obviously because they're either crappy screws (as so many are these days, even ones I get from the hardware store) or because they were inserted too tightly (or more likely both). Many of the parts that break on Yamato valks are due to a design flaw or poor choice of plastic for a particular area. This is not a dis on Yamato. They probably didn't forsee some of the problems that arise later or they probably would of done something differently. Perhaps they could have used POM on that part of the YF-19. I'm sure there are solutions besides, "Oh well, it just has to break and that's OK".
  3. It's a pretty terrible defense, honestly (no offense, edwin). I've got many, MANY toys that are 20-30 years old and almost all of them are in perfect condition with no stressing, no degradation. Sure, they will degrade given more time, but they've already lived decades longer than a typical Yamato toy. Plastic should not stress and degrade after a few years. If it does it's crap plastic, crap design or both.
  4. Wasn't there a recent rumor that Yamato was thinking of doing a 1/100 line? I wonder if they would do PT or if they would also go the route of swapping. The one 1/100 toy they developed in the past (the unreleased VF-0) had just about the most parts swapping I'd ever seen on any transforming toy. I'm still holding out hope that at least some of the Bandais will be PT. There's no reason the VF-1 shouldn't be, although PT or not I don't really even want another VF-1.
  5. I'll start to worry when Yamato begins selling their toys like jewelers sell diamond rings: "Only three months salary!"
  6. Funny, that's how I would describe Ayn Rand herself. Minus the cute part of course. I think toy companies should offer an option where the customer is welcome to go to the factory and assemble their own toy. Of course the plane tickets etc. would far outweigh the price of the toy, but you can't put a price on the pride that comes with being able to say you stood shoulder to shoulder with a crack legion of 13 year old Chinese girls and built a transforming space ship.
  7. Isn't the YF-24 a prototype of the VF-25 only with delta wings...or did I dream that?
  8. Unless they don't put much focus on gerwalk. Also, Toynami's 1/100 VF-1 does a perfectly acceptable gerwalk with no parts swapping. Regardless, my point is that we just don't know.
  9. We know the VF-25 utilizes parts swapping but I don't think we've seen or heard any 'statement' from Bandai that they plan to use parts swapping for every single 1/100 toy.
  10. I'm with you on that. While I will always love the SDF1, the Quarter will make for a more interesting and dynamic toy. The SDF1 is like a building that can move a few parts and then fire at you. The Quarter has agility and begs to be posed in offensive and defensive positions. Naturally my collection has room for both. Isn't that right wallet? Wallet...? Huh. I wonder where he went?
  11. Ah yes, I forgot about that. Thanks! Sometimes I wish I had a chip in my brain with the whole series on it so I could review it at any time I wished. I'm hoping that both cannon and flight deck are removable because I'd like to display it without them occasionally, and also I'd like to have the option of removiing them if they cause too much strain on the shoulders.
  12. Have we ever seen 'hands' on the Quarter? I know there are scenes where the 'shield' part is stored away while its gripping the cannon, but I'm never sure if there are actual hands at the ends of the arms. I'm just curious if we'll have the ability on the DX to remove the cannon and shield or if they will just be permanant extensions of the arms.
  13. There is middle ground, too. I would say I've had enough problems on mine to be cause for alarm, but it certainly hasn't been failure across the board. I've had some Yammies with problems, some without. I don't base my overall impression on my experience alone though, but my experience combined with what I read from other fans. If I read dozens of reports that Toy X is having Problem X, I'm going to be very cautious of that toy and maybe even avoid it completely. Sure there is a good chance that I will not have Problem X on my sample, but if the odds are even 20% that I will get a poor sample that isn't acceptable to me. The main reason I come to forums like this is to see what the buzz is and if I should check something out or avoid it.
  14. I would guess they don't see it as an issue considering it's happened on a fairly insignificant number of them. Aside from that there isn't much to 'fix' other than to tell the factory workers to make sure they aren't over-tightening the screws...which I would assume is one of the standard guidelines in place anyway. The trick is making the factory workers care.
  15. To hell with you all, I'm calling the Legioss "Regioss" from now on.
  16. Well, this can obviously only be resolved with a round of arm wrestling.
  17. The irony with Animated is that so many people saw the initial designs and threw up a little, and now they don't want it to go away. I'm in that camp. I'll be the first to admit I had no idea how Animated could have any redeeming qualities, but now that I've seen the first two seasons I'd be very happy to see it stick around for a few more years. Even though season 3 is about to start, it still feels like they're at the tip of the iceberg and that there are so many more stories to tell and such a big world to explore. If it doesn't get an extension as a new series and it all goes in the toilet for some kind of Bayformer cartoon I will be one royally sad panda.
  18. I'm personally not expecting problems, but I will not be the slightest bit surprised if there are problems. I judge Yamato on the entirety of their Macross line, not just one recent release. I'm very much looking forward to the new VF-11 and I'm currently debating weather I want to be a test pilot or if I should wait. The fact I'll be spending next to nothing on Transformers this year tells me I'll probably decide to throw all caution to the wind and be a VF-11 test pilot.
  19. They are the most solid Valk toy this side of a 1/55 Chunky Monkey. Personally I find them to feel even more solid than the Chunky because everything locks together so tightly in fighter mode, but that's just me. Regardless, you can manhandle it into it's various modes and not worry about anything breaking. Some overtight shoulders have led to broken screws, but so far that hasn't been a chronic problem.
  20. Yamato's Groizer-X from the GN-U Hagane line would be my best recommendation. Lots of metal, lots of old school funk. It's a STEAL at $94 http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;mode=retail
  21. What is the Legioss at the bottom right with the shoulder missile pod and the open missile hatches on the legs, and the little Stig? Is that a kit?
  22. Yeah, just try to avoid rubbing painted parts together and you should be fine. Before hearing about the paint issue I had already transformed mine a few times, fairly roughly, and there were no scratches, so maybe some have more delicate paint than others, or just by chance the painted parts didn't make contact during my transformations. The only bummer for me is the groin peg. It's become so loose that battroid mode doesn't hold together anymore and the top half just flops backward. This seems to be a problem mostly on mine as I haven't really read any other complaints where it's as bad as mine. I've taken it apart to inspect the parts and they all seem to be perfectly fine (no cracks or breaks or even wear). I guess when the parts on mine were molded they were just a fraction of a hair off and that's all it took to make them not fit together properly. It's easily fixed with a bit of tape or glue, but it's still a fairly significant niggle.
  23. Points well taken. The fat has been trimmed. Unfortunately it is still counting the votes for the 'neither broken nor perfect' choice. I was hoping it would wipe those out and allow people to re-vote. c'est la vie du net poll.
