  1. That's what I'm talkin' about. I want a Quarter as delicious and decked out as the Iron Gear. Come to think of it, I'll probably display the Quarter next to the Iron Gear. I think their size and gaggle of cannons will complement each other nicely.
  2. I think some people are hoping for resculpts because they don't like the dimensions of the current toy and want Bandai to take another crack at it. As popular as the DX has been in general though it's hard for me to imagine Bandai seeing much incentive to do that. I'd like to see certain areas retooled, like the groin peg, but overall I actually really like how the DX looks.
  3. Is boiling bad for PVC? Back when I was paying attention to Star Wars toys people were always boiling them to pop the arms and legs off for customizing. I never had a reason to try it myself.
  4. Actually since the Yamato is 1/2000 scale and the Quarter is 1/1700 scale (or therabouts), and considering the VF-25 is slightly bigger than VF-1, mini valks for the Quarter would be larger than the ones with the Yamato Macross and thus easier to produce.
  5. MMM....good old fashined double-dippin' action. Wouldn't be Star Wars without it I suppose.
  6. Thanks for the excellent review! I liked the 1/100 as well. Not enough to keep it (I decided I'm going to stick with DX only for Frontier) but I have nothing bad to say about it. The shield issue can be fixed by shaving very small bits of plastic from the peg until it fits to your liking. I can't suggest how to bend it back into place other than maybe heating it with a hair dryer or boiling water and gently bending it back to where you want it, then rapidly cooling it down with cold water.
  7. So will the season set contain those first four episodes, thus making the current DVD obsolete and uneccessary, or will it begin with episode 5, thus making it not truly the full season? I ask because Transformers Animated (I know, I know) did this. Episodes 1-3 of the series were released first on DVD under the guise of a 'movie' and then a couple of months later the season 1 set came out, which lacked the premier movie. If one wanted the full season they had to buy both DVDs and spend around $50 for what was only 16 episodes total. Yes, there is the technicality of the first three episodes being a 'movie', but the story arc isn't complete without them and they are essentially just part of the season. I don't mean to sound like I'm griping or panicking, I just find it curious. I don't really care one way or the other because these days I just Netflix everything so I've long since put an end to DVD fleecing.
  8. When you push his body down the hips/shoulders activate a mechanism is his neck that makes his head look up. Release the pressure and it looks back down. You can also hold him and do it by pushing up on the bottom of his feet. I think it's pretty cool. There is also a button on the side of his head that will snap his jaws shut when they are open. I don't mind the head gimmicks. I wouldn't say that particularly excite me, but I don't feel strongly enough about them to call them underwhelming, either. I like that Takara tried to add a little extra personality. I do wish the button had been able to open and close his mouth though, like Animated Grimlock. That way you could make him 'talk' when he's taking drink orders from your friends.
  9. I thought I saw a season 1 DVD today at Target but it was just the first 4 episodes. What the poo is that?
  10. Got Grimlock today and he is one spectacularly awesome beast. Really, really high quality finish on this guy. I haven't been this impressed with the overall fit and finish of a Transformer in a long time. He truly feels like he's worth the price to me, and in my hands he feels exactly the right size. Love, love LOVE the apron, bowtie and drinks. He looks so stupidly awesome in that getup. I think the only thing I would change would be the sword. I don't really have a problem with the sword, but I would have skipped the electronics in favor of a silver chromed sword with a sculpted hilt that he could hold in an articulated hand. But even still he does have one articulated hand and I do have all kinds of chrome swords lying around from other bots, so it's no biggie. I know a lot of people are disappointed in the diecast content but I'm actually glad they didn't use more diecast on him. I can't really think of any place that he would have benefited from having more metal. And to put it in perspective I'm pretty sure what diecast Grimmy has is more than the seekers and Megatron, so...
  11. I'm wondering that, too. I've never heard of broken hip joints, and those rings have been cleanly split in half on every 1/48 I've had. Joints have always been nice and tight there, too.
  12. It seems to be a random problem with all of the VF-25 variants. Some are like that, some aren't. The problematic one I have is an Alto. :EDIT: The nail polish I used is "N.Y.C." brand, Extra Shiny Top Coat 271-A
  13. I applied a single coat of over the entire surface of the T-shaped peg that flips out. As for the brand I'll have to look at the name when I get home, I don't remember off the top of my head. Something like "N.Y.C". Clear of course. If you do this, make sure you let it dry thoroughly first. It should only take several minutes but I let mine dry overnight just to be safe.
  14. No. The only persistent breakage problem on the 1/48 toys is a part of the backpack called "BP-8" that can easily break under the weight of fastpacks, and even then it isn't a problem on all of them. Other than that it's pretty much a hearty beast.
  15. You could buy the CMs set and sell the Legioss & Tlead to someone who doesn't care about the gatling gun & scope, and then keep the gatling gun & scope for yourself. They should be roughly to scale with the Toynami. Not sure how well the Toynami hands can hold the CMs guns, but with articulated fingers (providing they haven't broken off) tehre should be room to work with.
  16. Sorry to hear that. I wonder what is different between yours and mine. I've transformed mine a few times after applying one coat of clear nail polish and it still works perfectly. Maybe the brand? In any case, sorry to hear it didn't work for you and hopefully Bandai will take care of it for you.
  17. Grr...I'm tempted to sell my Blue CMs set in favor of this new set. Not for the chest intakes or link up improvements, just for that sweet new gun. I really do love the CMs set, it's been a constant source of fun since I got it upon release and has held up perfectly over the last year. Great little toy.
  18. This thing totally seems worth the extra $$ considering Yamato probably has no plans to use that armor for any other release. A low-viz version would be cool but it's not something I would assume Yamato would be interested in making. And aside from that I guess an extra 3000Y doesn't seem like enough for me to panic about. I'm glad the heads are so easy to switch on these 1/60s because I've always wanted an Ostrich with a 1D head.
  19. Put me on that list, too.
  20. It is a really well made piece. I was very impressed with the durability of the thing, especially at such a small scale. I bet the 25 will be more sought after later than it is now.
  21. Because logic is insulting now, didn't you get the memo? I'm still not worried in the least about anything with the DX line. Nothing is prone to breakage so far, and high probabilities of exploding parts are the only things that really make me panic. I loves my Alto and I can't wait to get Luca, although I will have to wait due to paying for other toys that are higher on the priority list.
  22. That's actually not too bad. I'd like to see one done in a similar style only larger. At a larger scale it would be a cinch to have hands slide out of the turbines.
  23. It's funny how certain photos can change opinions. I never really liked the head design on Michel but suddenly I found appreciation for it through QJ's photos. Sort of like how I never liked the VF-1A head until I looked at photos of the recent Yamato 1/48 TV Max.
  24. I skipped Powerglide because I didn't like his bot proportions. Too bulky upstairs for my taste. Kind of the same reason I never really liked the original. Sort of bittersweet for me because I love the A-10. Come to think of it, I haven't liked the bot modes on any of the A-10 (or A-10 inspired) Transformers.
  25. I hope they include some tiny to-scale valks to display on the flight deck, like the Yamato Macross.
