Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.5
eriku replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yeah, Bandai's SOC line was my introduction to truly beautiful high end toys. I didn't really expect the VF-25 DX to be quite up to SOC standards since it's not part of the line, so maybe that's one of the reasons I wasn't disappointed with it. Regardless, it's an awesome toy in its own right and it displays with my SOCs far better than it displays with my Yammies. Actually I've found Yamato valks generally don't look good with any of my other toys so they usually get a shelf to themselves. I hope Yamato puts out some glossy versions of their valks some day. -
Ah, you must be using several mirrors then. Oh wait, supposed to ignore! D'OH!

Heh, the first thing I said to my wife while the end credits started to roll was, "Wow, that was more Star Wars than the Star Wars prequels were!" Absolutely loved this film. TOS is my favorite era of Trek (and to be honest the only one I really like) and this movie really did the characters justice. Easily and by far my favorite Trek movie of them all...which isn't saying much since I hated all but the first three. Anyway, I hope the get a few good movies out of this cast. Now we just need Hot Toys or some other good toy company to make some killer figures. Those Playmates things are just awful.

Here's a ProTip for you Shin: Ignorance is bliss...ifyouknowwhatImean... And here's to hoping the 19 gets some retooling. If the upcoming releases are just straight-up repaints I'll have no trouble ignoring them.

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.5
eriku replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I liked Luca because to me he seemed like the 'normal' character. The one who doesn't have anything freaky or dramatic going on, who just stays on an even keel and gets his job done. The proverbial 'everyman'. Granted that doesn't make for a particularly interesting character, but characters like him make a universe feel more real to me. That said, I'll definitely be picking up his DX toy at some point. -
So, did we ever get that heat shield problem figured out? Yes, I know, I just had to post that after reading the new subtitle of the thread.

I have no problems with the writing, story, pacing or anything from the first TF movie. It's a dumb-ass action flick and it lives up to that. But I like to actually appreciate what I'm looking at, and the bots just do absolutely nothing for me. They're some of the most un-aesthetically pleasing designs I've ever seen. I'd never argue that they are bad designs, they just don't look good to me. I've been more inspired looking at a drawer full of cutlery.

So this is basically a show about a wealthy alcoholic child, right?

Gah...I think I see her scrotum in that pic. -
"This is like a ride!" That's one of my favorite films ever. I cannot wait to get this bird. So happy to hear all these glowing reviews.

As much as I hate the movie designs, I do kind of like that ice cream truck thing...but those crooked and disproportionate faces are a perfect hallmark of what I hate about Bayformers. Some of them have great looking bodies but they're capped with heads that look like retarded insects that got partially smashed.

Hmm, I guess it was just wishful thinking that made the comparison photos look like the pins were smaller. Hopefully the unknurling will be sufficient, but it's still a worrisome area considering the hinge gets so much pressure put on it and has nothing to keep it from twisting (aside from a strategically placed finger). Regardless, I'm sick of worrying about the shoulders so I'm just enjoying my Max 1A and not giving it any special treatment while transforming or posing it.

New images of the upcoming Hyper Gokin Iron Man toy. I assume the non-RDJ head sculpt is due to licensing issues. Looks awesome so far.

Well, mine is on the way. My resistance were futile. All my base are belong to VF-11b Thundarbolt.

What's wrong with my Yamato, Bandai, etc.
eriku replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Ooooh...ouch. Considering that is a limited edition version, I wonder if you'll be able to get a replacement arm through Over-Drive? Or does Yamato make spare parts as needed? In any case, that really sucks. -
CMs Legioss/Tlead set is one of my favorite toys, but I'm not a fan of the headless drone in general so I wont be getting it.

Just say the word! I'm about 99% ready to buy one of these now. Golden Week is forcing patience upon me!

Heh, that's what I thought too. There were so many anime tapes I wanted back in the early 90's that I just couldn't afford. I guess I'll just suck it up and accept the price of the DVDs. At least they're cheaper than Yammies.

I've got a figure of the Ninth Doctor on the way, looking forward to it! I think I'm going to track down that set with the Tenth Doctor and two remote control Daleks, too. Maybe a Cyberman, a Slitheen, the lady who is nothing but a face stretched on a rack...damn it all. I have a question about the DVDs...is there a good place to get the season sets for a reasonable price? I know they're imports but I'm having a hard time accepting the price tags on them. I came across Season 2 the other day at a store and got excited until I saw it was $89. Are there any plans for a domestic release of the show?

Dang, I was hoping the panic would continue for a while longer because I had almost bottled enough to power my home for a whole year. I could just tap into the swine flu panic but that kind of terror-sweat is a little too high-test. Good for dissolving glue, but too volitile to power every day appliances.

Has "Devasuckor" been coined yet or may I take credit for it? -
Perhaps Yamato included the "DIY foam heatshield fix" as an homage to the 1/72 VF-11 with its DIY cut-out-and-tape heatshield.

Here's my plan: Don't remove the escape pod. Problem solved.

Actually the toy looks pretty much perfect in comparison to the VF-1 and YF-19. Should be considerably shorter than the 19 and right around the same height as the VF-1 and just a tad taller. That's how the toy looks in the pics I've seen. From the Macross Compendium: Battroid Modes YF-19.........15.48m VF-1...........12.68m VF-11.........12.92m
