  1. Hey guys, I'm looking for some guidance on a mystery piece from the VF-11b. I recently sold mine to someone, and when they opened the box they found this tiny trapezoidal piece under the gunpod. When I owned the valk, I transformed it and nothing seemed out of place, broken or missing, and I don't recall any part of the toy looking like this, but it's the same color as the toy so I'm at a loss as to what it could be. Any ideas?
  2. I came across the toys at TRU last night. There was 3" , 6" and 10" figures, along with the now requisite 'urban vinyl' style figures. Overall they look kind of 'bleh', sort of like something that would have been on the shelves in the late 90's. Not terrible, but not impressive or 'ooh NEAT!' inspiring either. I like the design of the Peacekeeper robot (sort of like Iron Giant meets Transfromers Animated Bulkhead) so I picked up the 3" version of him. It's pretty much what you see is what you get with this guy. He's basically a semi-articulated PVC figure. Sure there are 12 joints, but most of them are completely useless. The shoulders are universal joints and have a decent range. The elbows are hinged and bend almost 90 degrees. The waist and neck are rotating cuts. The hips are the worst- they're T-cut but sculpted in such a way that the crotch is in the way and prevents them from moving more than a couple of degrees, which in effect makes the already limited knees (45 degrees tops) completely uselss. I wasn't expecting an amazing feat of engineering or anything from a $6 figure, but come on. Rotating biceps & forearms and more thoughtfully designed hips would have worked wonders. I don't know what kind of articulation the 6" version has, but considering he has a prominant action feature (big button right on his chest) and damage...or something...sculpted all over his body, and seems to be a bit pre-posed...I don't think I'll be picking that one up. All things considered though, it's a fine figure if you just look at it as a small PVC representation of the character. The sculpting is decent and the paint is clean, and the joints are tight. I don't regret buying him. Hot Toys has the license for this movie, and while I'm sure they only plan to make Astro Boy himself, I have my fingers crossed that the movie is popular enough for them to make a Peacekeeper.
  3. I like this thread because now every time someone publicly debates about weather or not they want to buy 'valk X', I'll immediately get a cartoon image in my head of that person with a furrowed brow looking back and forth between 'valk X' and a big pile of Big Macs. WHICH TO CHOOSE!!!!!
  4. Yeah, with all of those long and rambling posts that you distribute around the board I'd be surprised if you even have time to sleep. :P
  5. Can we please not bring politics into this thread? Or did that forum rule get changed?
  6. I'm choosing the 11C over the VE-1 for now, even though a little part of me just died while typing that...
  7. The Tenth Doctor saying goodbye to Rose at the end of Doctor Who Season 2.
  8. I wouldn't say I hate Megan Fox, but I also wouldn't call her a good actor, nor does she fit anywhere in the definition of what I consider to be 'hot'. Not that there is anything wrong with transgendered Thai boys, they're just not my thing. ::EDIT:: Also, the big tattoo of Marilyn Monroe speaks volumes about her personality.
  9. Thanks for the heads-up! Feels good to preorder this one, especially for Y17,860! Here's a direct link: http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT00182
  10. That's exactly what I thought you meant, and my previous response stands.
  11. Nobody implied that, but for what it's worth I happen to enjoy Animated, Classics and Universe far more than G1, so... While I don't appreciate the presumption that people haven't approached TFs they don't like from different angles, I do think Lee's statement makes sense. Although it should be an obvious standard for any intelligent adult. I know exactly why I don't like the TF movie aesthetics. It's because I just don't like them. Things that look like that have never appealed to me. It has nothing to do with the fact that they're Transformers or 'new'. They could be from ten years ago, 100 years ago, it wouldn't make any difference. They could have been called Spacebots from Space with no relation to TFs whatsoever and I still wouldn't like them. It's not because I haven't looked at them from different angles, but it's precisely because I have looked at them from different angles.
  12. You're totally right. Those of us who don't like the movie style transformers designs should just change our opinions and tastes so we like them. Wow, that was easy! Snarkiness aside, I don't think there is any reason to believe the TF world is 'changing' that much, at least not in the sense that it's all going to veer towards a movie-style look leaving those of us who don't like it in the dust. I don't like the TF movie aesthetics, but I know there will be other designs coming down the pipe that I will like. That's the beauty of TFs, there's something for everyone. For the time being I just ignore what I don't like and patiently wait for what's on the horizon (as well as rediscover older toys I missed out on).
  13. So all you need is a crowbar, a ski mask and a truck with no plates.
  14. Well this thread has certainly been educational. :| Is anyone taking pre-orders for the VF-11C yet, or has anyone thought about a group-buy?
  15. I loooooove the new VF-25 weapon pack. It looks absolutlely gorgeous to me. Might be the first Frontier kit I pick up. I really hope it makes it into the DX line too.
  16. They could just make it so it clips over the outside. I'd be happy with that, as long as I don't have to cut it out myself...
  17. Has anyone picked up the new WalMart exclusive Universe Powerglide repaint yet? I'm looking for opinions on the color. A lot of people have reported they don't like the shade of red, but it looks different to me on every photo and moniter I see it on.
  18. Bandai hasn't dropped the M7 license. One of their next releases is the VF-19 Kai.
  19. I'm thinking (hoping) that may be changing soon - at least with the new PayPal Billing Agreement thing they have. I ordered the upcoming VF-19 yesterday evening and got the 'processing' email within an hour whereas it used to take a day or longer to get that email. So far I really like their new PayPal billing agreement, which automatically deducts the payment from your PayPal account when the item is available, doing away with the whole shabby payment request email process. HLJ & EMS is usually really fast for me. In fact, for the last few months I've gotten orders processed and delivered faster from HLJ than from BBTS. And I basically live right across the river from BBTS. :|
  20. Wow...this is the first I've seen human hands holding this thing, it's much bigger than I was expecting! Unless it's a larger prototype of course. If that is the true size and if those grey parts are going to be metal then ~$70 seems really cheap.
  21. I'm fine with no landing gear. I don't know if I've ever displayed a valk with it's gear out. They're usually standing in battroid mode or if I display them in fighter mode they're either on a stand or hanging from strings. Landing gear is overrated.
  22. http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT00114 The 11c is a little higher, but it's more or less in the same ballpark. I bought my 11b for $220 shipped when it was first released, so a few dollars more on the 11c isn't enough to make me gripe.
  23. Damn, I like the 11b colors but this one is even better. Looks like my 11b will be going up for sale. I wonder if anyone will even want to buy it though?
  24. I'm going to have to schedule a day off of work just to appreciate the Quarter when I get it. Thanks for the scan, nugundamII !
