MP Grimlock is little more than an upscaled version of the G1 toy? Huh. I guess I got a different toy. The one I got definitely retains the look of G1 Grimlock, but has loads of articulation, fun and clever features, and is one of the most well-constructed modern toys I've ever held. But I realise that isn't keeping to the "Yamato doesn't suck, Transformers suck!" re-purposing of this thread, so I'll just shut up now.
-
I suppose you're right. We might as well stay entertained while we're waiting for actual facts to come about about this new VF-1.
-
Actually there are many SOC toys that have transformations, some of them no less complicated than a valkryie. It's also not true that Bandai didn't do anything with Macross for 30 years. They made Macross 7 toys, model kits, and lots of 1/55 reissues. It may not be exactly what current fans wish they did, but they certainly didn't just sit on the license and not do anything with it. But regardless, it would be nice to keep this thread from devolving into yet another Bandai VS Yamato debate because there really isn't any good reason to pick sides. More toys by more manufacturers is good for everyone, no bmatter which company you prefer. And if you're someone who likes both companies (believe it or not we do exist) , all the better.
-
So you're saying that these things which aren't confirmed one way or another isn't speculation? O...K...
-
Hopefully some real facts about this toy will surface soon. Not that the crazy speculations here aren't entertaining.
-
This reminds of the opening of SNL last night: "Will you kiss me?" "What?" "Will you kiss me?" "Kiss you?" "Yes, because I like to be kissed WHEN SOMEONE IS DOING SEX TO ME!!!!!"
-
Nice, thanks for the photo! I'm guessing we're still at least 6 to 8 months away from getting Daitarn. He's the main toy I'm looking forward to next year. I hope we see some painted pics soon.

Excellent. Now if this thing is any good I can get rid of my Yamatos once and for all.* *(is very bitter this morning after having yet another Yamato toy [sV-51 Ivanov] fall apart in his hands)

Aw crud, I was hoping the Angelbird would be a regular release. Oh well, better this than no Angelbird at all.
-
Why, did it hit on you?

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.6
eriku replied to Duke Togo's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'm curious if the groin lock mechanism has been changed. That's still my solitary niggle with the DX. I'm holding off on any more DX's until that issue gets addressed. -
I'm not bothered at all. While it does get tiring (it's an element of EVERY corner of the internet) I actually find the masochism quite amusing. "I hate this thing, so I'm going to keep looking at it!" And thanks for the link to the latest pics. While I have no doubt this figure will be, generally speaking, a massive failure here at MW (it already is), I'm sure it wont have a problem finding its audience in the rest of the toy collecting world.
-
And I can't understand why those who are so bothered by the existence of this toy keep coming back to this thread and torturing themselves. How hard is it to ignore?
-
Yep, and that's exactly what I'm looking forward to about this figure. I hope it does well enough to warrant other transforming Macross valks too.
-
Maybe Kaiyodo just really likes to hear all the masochists bitch?
-
So...does Milla get her t*ts out in this film?
-
Yes, because Bandai is the only company that does that.
-
Oooh...I'm not usually a fan of gimmicky cases but that Enterprise case is clever, attractive and functional. Now to find one!
-
Oh hell yes, Combattler can be put in tank mode! I was hoping this was possible but Bandai never showcased the feature. More here: http://ngeekhiong.blogspot.com/2009/11/cho...unit-1-new.html

I personally feel like one year isn't anywhere close to enough time for a good comprehensive 'retrospective', but so far I'm satisfied with what Bandai has put out. The Alto DX and EX-Gear Alto are two of my favorite Macross toys ever and the upcoming Quarter, VF-19 and Koenig Monster have me more excited than anything Yamato has on the horizen, so grading on happy points I'd have to give Bandai's Frontier Year One an 'A'.
-
That's what I'd like to know. At first I wasn't thrilled about yet another VF-1 toy, but when I realized that I'll probably play with these more than my Yamatos I got excited to get a few of them. The fact they're far cheaper than any Yamato valk makes them even better.
-
So are we all agreed that's the end of this thread then?
-
I'm not particularly fond of Talon as she seems a bit of a lazy design to me. Like the creator said, "What if took Darth Maul and Aayla Secura and combined them?" I can see why she's popular, but she's not very interesting to me.
-
Classic case of the dream-come-true becoming the living nightmare. It's awesome that TFs are so popular right now and can be found just about anywhere...but what's prominant, popular and available is on the opposite end of the spectrum from anything I could possibly want. I feel like a kid that is sent into a candy store with a million dollars and when I get inside all I find are endless bins of Good-N-Plenty. And I hate Good-N-Plenty.
-
Excellent. Now that you've reached the realm of not caring, you're about to enter the realm where you don't bitch about TFs anymore! I'm actually getting pretty close to not caring anymore either. Unless Hasbro/Takara unveils a new line or show that looks interesting to me (read: not movie-inspired) I'm kind of done with TFs for now. I don't even feel revulsion towards the movie aesthetic anymore - just a cold indifference.
