  1. It's too bad the parts aren't available on their own because I would pick up a set for the gun and hands. Oh well, I still love the set I have even with its flaws.
  2. There was a time I would have agreed with you, but then he went and did Couple's Retreat.
  3. That looks great! What kind of paint did you use on the visor?
  4. Nice! Although shouldn't one of his arms be laying on the ground because the shoulder broke?
  5. Actually he's thumbing his nose at yellowing and saying, "Come on UV rays, do your worst!!!" He's a bit of a masochist.
  6. I think they're smooth pins. That is to say I don't see any of the tell-tale knurling on either end of the pins. I'm not going to push the pins out to find out for sure though.
  7. Old crotch, unfortunately. And the albino comment makes me want to give him a pink visor.
  8. They haven't shown any product yet, but Hot Toys has the license for the movie so I would expect at least the main characters from them in 1/6 scale sometime this year. I'm guessing they'll do the Na'vi in the same style as the Hellboy and Abe figures, with a rubber 'suit' over an articulated inner body: And considering Hot Toys did a Power Loader from Aliens, I wouldn't be surprised if they did a fully articulated AMP suit. It would be bigger and more expensive to produce than the Power Loader but they were crazy enough to make the Batmobile in 1/6 scale.
  9. Heh, the syncing is exactly how I guessed that the Na'vi 'did it'. Odd that they felt compelled to cut that scene when the Na'vi are running around syncing with everything else. I guess Na'vis having sex with horses, dragons, super-dragons and trees is fine, but with each other? That's just dirty!
  10. Got my unpainted (assembled) VF-1S today. Here’s some quick details, most of which were already known: - box is more simplified without an opening flap/window. - non-knurled pins (horray!) - old-style swing-bar lock (booo!) - clear canopy (no pearlescent coating) - painted diecast parts - thrusters, intakes, and cockpit controls molded in dark grey - head visor is clear - decal sheet has loads of different markings for all kinds of variations of canon valks. Also includes a comical black decal for the canopy frame. Now to find some appropriately scaled Starfleet decals to put on it. That’s right: Trek Valk.
  11. Saw it again tonight in 2D and I actually enjoyed it more. The 3D was very cool, but I felt like I was less distracted with the 2D version. Can't wait to get the DVD and check out all the behind the scenes making-of stuff that is bound to be on it.
  12. Kind of surprising they don't have it yet. AmiAmi already shipped mine out two days ago, so it seems like other Japanese stores would have them too.
  13. I've got an unpainted VF-1S coming this week, I'm curious to see what it has for pins. I assume non-knurled since it's a new release, but still...
  14. They were stubborn, but I think I would be incredibly stubborn if someone was trying to forcibly evict me from my home and kill me. As for ignorant, the Na'vi were portrayed as being open and accepting when the humans first arrived. They allowed the humans to set up a school and some of them even learned the language. They were resistant to human medicine because they didn't need it. I think it was when they wised up to what the corporate/military group really wanted that they became belligerent and hostile.
  15. Wow, that's actually pretty crappy on their part to use old toys that are known to have problems. At least they admitted it.
  16. Bleh. Not even F. Scott Fitzgerald's hand in the screenplay was enough to make Gone With the Wind watchable for me. Halfway through watching it I realized I absolutely hated every single character and after that realization I had a hard time finishing it. I had fun watching Avatar. I'm not having fun reading all of the sociopolitical criticisms of it though (not so much here, but on the net in general). Almost any film can be picked apart and criticized for one sociopolitical flaw or another, so why is Avatar suddenly making everyone an expert in that kind of analysis? I found the base message of Avatar to simply be, "This ours. No take." Which seems to be a universally logical truth to me. It seems silly to me that people are choosing to make it 'controversial'. That said, one thing this movie made me realize was that I had forgotten just how awesome (and gorgeous) Michelle Rodriguez is. I think her Trudy was my favorite character in the film. Too bad she had to die.
  17. Each time they said "unobtainium" I whispered "Spaaaace Gooooold" to my wife while we were watching it. I'm also fond of the term "Pooranium".
  18. Oh it's a totally and completely ridiculous design. Consequentially that is why I love it.
  19. Thanks for the pic! While I'm hopelessly incompetent with paint, I should be able to at least paint the canopy. Not going anywhere near that pilot though.
  20. I thought this was the thread for the unpainted valk since it's a non-canon valk. The only other thread I could find with a title regarding the unpainted valk only had a few comments, one of which instructing people to use this thread. Anyway, thanks for the info. Hopefully people will start getting theirs soon so we can see some pics.
  21. So did anyone get their unpainted valk yet? Mine will be on it's way soon so I'm wondering what to expect. I still haven't seen any production photos of it, only the poorly photoshopped Yamato pics. I'm mostly wondering if the canopy frame is painted or not and what the pilot looks like...or if it even comes with one.
  22. Yeah, I'm sure they had a word they used to refer to the planet, probably something that just means "the land". Weather or not they had a formal name for it is what I was curious about.
  23. Yeah, I suppose it could have a longer name like "Stuffwearealloutofbecauseweuseditallandnowweneedmoreium". Speaking of dumb slang terms, was "Pandora" just the human slang word for the planet and not actually what the Na'vi called it? I don't recall the Na'vi referring to it as Pandora. I assume they didn't have a formal name for it, sort of like how "Na'vi" just meant "the people".
