I actually enjoyed it more in 2D. While the 3D was really well done, the best I've ever seen, I ultimately found it too distracting. The film is still stunningly gorgeous without 3D, just like many, many films have always been before the era of 3D.

Crap, if I hadn't missed your post I would have obliged you with a photo last night. Unless someone beats me to it, I'll post a photo sans leg parts tonight. I'm leaving them off and in the box because A: it looks completely fine to me without them and B: less parts to worry about. As for the head parts, you can leave the middle fin/cap part on (if you fold up the two back flaps), but the side lasers stick out too far to remain on the head in fighter mode. I'm also considering leaving the side lasers in the box as they're kind of small and I don't want to lose them, and also he looks alright without them aside from a hole on each side of the head.

Quick thoughts after playing with the VF-19: Nothing frustrating or worrisome. This is an excellent toy and I can't wait to see what's after the VF-1. I've had a little too much beer to expound further than that. Observe:

That's a great idea! I'm going to try that when mine comes in next week. I don't use it for Alto so if it works for the VF-19 that would be perfect.

I swear sometimes Bandai custom-designs their toys for me personally because A: I never use landing gear on valks and B: I never clip on the gunpod in fighter mode. Sorry guys, it's all my fault.

It might have landing gear and lots of metal but it doesn't transform, so one of those will never make it into my collection.

VF-19 1/100 at $60 YF-19 1/60 at $200 The fire valk doesn't really seem disproportionately expensive when compared to it's bretheren.

I kind of expected the same. She loves anime (we just finished a Bebop and Champloo marathon last month) but I was expecting her to find NGE just too weird (I expect everyone new to the show to find it too weird). On the other hand we're only half way through and the crazy-weird stuff is only just beginning. >_<

I have nothing thoughtful to add, but I wanted to say that I finally decided to introduce my wife to NGE this afternoon around 5:30. We watched it straight up until 10:00 with her in full control of the remote, skipping eagerly past the intros and outros. I love my wife.

Is it the revoltech joints that are loose or other non-revoltech joints? Just wondering if the joints could be replaced since revoltech joints are removable.

I agree, some pegs or tabs or any kind of lock would have been nice. Luckily the tension alone keeps mine together just fine.

Wow, mine must have tighter-than-usual joints because nothing really goes out of place if I woosh it around. I'd have to shake it pretty vigorously to make it look like a sloppy mess.
