Very interesting that SWS is on the box photo as well. Wouldn't it be funny if Kawamori specifically asked Bandai to do this because he secretly likes to drive the fans insane? The whole forum should be one big thread titled "MACROSS".

So a question on an incorrect paint application has evolved into yet another Yamato VS Bandai debate. Good work everyone. *slow sarcastic clap*
-
...they are? If anything I've noticed more tolerance to Yamato's problems.

Clash of the Titans - remake teaser
eriku replied to Vermillion21's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
What's interesting to me about Sam Worthington is that his animated counterpart (Na'Vi Jake) has more life, personality and expressive capabilities than he does. In Clash he has all the emotive qualities of a shoe. -
Clash of the Titans - remake teaser

I watched it tonight. It was...OK. Honestly all I saw was another by-the-numbers fantasy/action film. The characters were all dull and mechanical. Sam Worthington could have been anyone with a pulse (he reminded me of Russel Crowe in Gladiator, which isn't a good thing), the supporting cast was all forgettable. Even Liam as Zeus seemed blah, and Liam Neeson playing Zeus should NOT be dull. The action? Well, the effects were alright for the most part but parts felt like I was watching Revenge of the Fallen all over again. Tons of stuff going on at a very fast clip but the camera is zoomed in so close that it's hard to tell what's going on. It's like the old cartoons where two characters fight and all you see is a cloud of dust with their limbs poking out. I don't know, I feel like it's a tactic to hide poor fight choreography or something. There were giant scorpions, which looked very cool and were made even cooler when they were tamed and became mounts. Something about the ridiculousness of a caravan of giant scorpions made me smile. Other than that I didn't find any of the creature designs very impressive or interesting. Zeus was shiny, Hades was dark and shadowy, Medusa was...Medusa with a seriously oversized snake body. The Kraken looked like a random video game monster. Oh, and Bubo was in the film. It looked like the same model as the original, but the only purpose his 5 seconds served in the film was as the director's way of saying, "Hey, remember this guy? He's not going to be in the movie". Overall I would say wait and rent it. It's really not worth full ticket price, especially 3D price. -
Yeah, . But like you said, who cares? Matt Smith is an excellent Doctor so far. As much as I loved Tennant, I feel like I might end up liking Smith even more. I already like Amy Pond a lot too. Something about the way she says, "No.", I just love it. . Can't wait for more!

I was thinking more of the aesthetics. I love kid-appeal. Hell, I just bought some Machine Robo Rescue toys that work on the same concept (one larger base robot with four drones that all combine) that look even more toyish than the PowerCore toys and I friggin' LOVE them. It's not the fun aspect I was referring to, it's that they look just like a throwback to Energon and Armada - and I always got the impression that the fans in general weren't too hot on those aesthetics. In any case I'm sure there's a lot of "New Toy Excitement" at work like there is for every line, so we won't know how people truly feel about the line until a year or two from now.

So What Stupid mistake must have happened at the factory to make this kind of Seriously Woeful Slip on this toy? Sources Will Say that this is yet another Superfluously Wrong Setback for Bandai because they are a Shitty Whoring Supercorporation with Seemingly Witless Strategies, but it's also just as likely that it's a Simple "Whoops, Sorry!" situation that can be fixed easily and Soon Warehouse Shipments of corrected parts can Ship With SAL from places like HLJ to Satiate Wronged, Sad fans who Simply Want SMS logos.

Kind of a bummer that Blurr doesn't get his own figure, but at least he gets his own head. As for other Classics 3/0 figures, I can't think of any beyond what you listed.
-
Very clever! Looks like it's more fun to swoosh around now.
-
That is a shame, those are absolutely beautiful! I hope Toynami finds some way to release those so your work isn't wasted.
-
Woah, I remember seeing those photos but somehow I completely missed the CF GBP. There's some great stuff there all around. Too bad it's all going to rot in some bin for the rest of eternity.

Still cheaper than HLJ's price of 16000. And AmiAmi has 1/2 off EMS.

No Beagle Blow Superior... that blows superior...

From what you've said in your post, I think it would be best if you avoided CM's Legioss/Tlead and Ride Armors entirely. You already know you don't like how the Legioss and Tlead set looks, so that really isn't going to change if you get them in your hands. As for the Ride Armors, I'm guessing you would hate how small and fiddly they are. Personally, and I know I make new enemies every time I mention this, I like CM's Mospeada stuff the best. Starting with their Legioss & Tlead, I like the different direction they went with the design, long nose and all. It's an unfortunate element for those who wanted something more traditional, but to me it strikes a perfect balance between "looking like a Legioss" and "artistic license". Aside from the design, I love the bright colors. They remind me of the cartoon and they look really snazzy in my display. I also like that they feel like toys, durable enough to be played with. It would be nice if the Legioss had some pegs on it, but the joints are tight enough on mine (even still after a few years) to hold everything in place unless I give it a hard shake, which isn't something I typically do. It's a problem, one that could have been avoided, but it doesn't bother me. The connection to the Beta is easily the biggest negative of the set. Maybe CM's thought people wouldn't be so hardcore about the connection, I don't know, but it's obvious that they could have made it better - especially since they improved it later with the addon. It's not something that bothers me much (I enjoy the two more individually than I do joined), but I won't deny that it's a problem. The Ride Armor I prefer over all of the others (yes, even the Beagle) because of the sculpt. Between the proportions, color and details it's the only one that just does it for me. Beyond that I prefer the 1/18 scale and I even like the intricate and fiddly transformation. I'd never argue that it's the "best" ride armor toy, but it's my favorite. Only problem I've had with mine is the windshield breaking off, which was fixed with a dab of glue. So yeah, stay away from the CM's Mospeada toys. Odds are you wont like them. I love them, and I like to chime in from time to time to remind people that the CM's toys are not universally loathed by Everyone in the Universe, but I'll never again tell anyone to buy them. -
My plan for dealing with a SWS logo: change the first S to an E so it spells out my initials.

Wow, that's almost what I paid for the bare Messiah when it was released December 2008. I'm very tempted to get one of these to replace my froppy Messiah.

Haven't been fooled once yet today. *pats self on back*

From now on I'm going to refer to the set as "the green one with the pink thing".
-
It's exaggerations like those above that kept me from watching this show for so many years. I'm happy I gave it a chance because it's one of my all-time favorites now.

The R:D figure is attached to the movie, but this incarnation is one of the same ones from the series. I'd love figures of it's big final form from the film, as well as an armorless Coralian version. That can actually be said for almost any anime series. I loved Renton's character, but I've never understood the prevalent use and intended meaning of the word "emo", so maybe that means I'm "emo" and that's why I like the show.
-
Yeah, well, just be glad I didn't refer to it as "pink thing" like I originally planned.
-
Thanks! Can't wait for June.

Has it been confirmed that Grace's VF-27 will come with the ghost booster? I know it's been pictured with it, but I don't recall if it's been confirmed as an accessory.

Grabbed the R:D Spec 2 Nirvash yesterday and I'm glad I did. The parts-forming is kind of a bummer, but damn it's a solid and heavily articulated little figure. I would like a larger DX version some day, but this one really satisfied my craving for a Nirvash figure. I dig the Nirvash Larva figure that comes with it, too. "Mukyuu!" Speaking of...I just watched the E7 movie last night and I really enjoyed it. I was apprehensive because a lot of the reviews were people bitching about the characters being changed and the plot being changed, etc. So i was pleasently surprised to see that all of the changes are because the movie is a prequel and thus the characters and events are different. I assume the message or premise is "History is destined to repeat itself". Looking at it that way, it was a lot of fun to watch what took place on Earth 10,000 years prior to the events of the TV series. There was one huge missed opportunity though: In the series when Renton, Eureka and the kids are stranded on the beach they find a ring embedded in amber with R+E on it. We're left to wonder about the ring and if the R+E stands for Renton and Eureka. It would have been cool if the movie would have shown the past Renton and Eureka wearing those rings and losing one on a beach or something like that. Especially since the movie ends with them on a beach. In any case, I'll be happy to just tie up the connection that way in my mind.

I prefer consolodated threads. It's not like discussion on any of the DX toys generates a dozen new pages every day like some forums, even when they're new. Talk is generally so minimal that I rarely ever have to dig back even one page to catch up if I miss a day. Why have six threads with minimal comments getting spread out by lulls, when one thread with 120 comments is actually easier to follow and usually at the top of the list? Even more so for the Hi-Metal line, although we seem to have multiple threads for those releases now. If all else fails, a nice combo of "Search" and Control-F usually gets me where I need to go.
