  1. I'm going for the regular version because I want the option to put the monster girl decals on myself. I'm not sure how much I like them plastered over the toothy mouth, so I might find some other place on the Monster to put them. As for the rest of the extras in the SP set, I'm not really into display bases, credit cards or special packaging.
  2. Definitely looks better than the 1/48 version. I'm a sucker for the Angelbirds deco, but I haven't decided yet weather to get this. It really bugs be that the fan racer isn't painted with a Hikaru figure as that would have been a perfect set.
  3. Ah, well that explains it. Giggitish always costs more.
  4. I think I'll avoid any reviews this time until after I watch it. Although the last time I did that was with Clash of the Titans, and a few reviews would have handily saved me from seeing that steaming pile.
  5. Wow, that is TINY. I like it, and as Totoro242 said it'll look good with the Morphers. Speaking of Morphers, am I the only one who would love to see Toynami make a Beta Morpher? I think the Alpha Morpher is still my favorite Alpha/Legioss toy.
  6. That's definitely a valid concern because unless the "1/100" is a misnomer this toy will be very, very tiny. That said, Bandai does have the ability to work wonders with figures so small, but that doesn't mean they always do.
  7. It's because the VF-1 is a smaller toy. The two toys are the same scale, but a VF-1 is smaller than a VF-19. In any case, this thing is looking superb. Indeed, the prospect of a full 1/100 line filled with lots of different valks is exciting. The Hi Metal line is off to such a good start with the excellent VF-19, and if the photos are any indication the VF-1 should be really good too. Hopefully the line will continue to be profitable for Bandai so they will keep it going long enough to bring us things like the VF-17, VF-4, VF-2SS, VF-11, etc. It'll be so much easier to display all of them together in one spot at this smaller scale, too.
  8. The Hot Rod sticker is funnier on Dead Prime anyway. I wonder why the running lights (or whatever those things are on top of the cab) are painted yellow?
  9. Wasn't that same Hot Rod sticker on MP Nemesis Prime's wrist communicator?
  10. That's on the high end. AmiAmi has it for 5680. http://www.amiami.jp/shop/?set=english&amp.../e_display.html Honestly though, even 8400 yen is a great price for what you get. If it were sold as a completed toy the price would be at least double that.
  11. See below, which is also above your post Your preemptive strike failed! Keep in mind this is the Frontier Konig, which has much smaller cannons, so the toy is anime-accurate.
  12. I would bet on a Monster Girl deco being a Tamashii Web Exclusive. Not sure which version I'd prefer. I love the Ranka decal, but the toothy mouth is less likely to creep out guests.
  13. The Konig doesn't have landing gear, it lands by converting to Gerwalk mode. ::EDIT:: Or by crashing.
  14. I have the Combat Calibur (the one with the armor) and while there are a couple weak points I find it to be a fine toy overall. It's a pretty rugged toy, really well made and durable. The transformation isn't much more complicated than the original. The articulation is better than the original with the hips being a weak spot. The hips lock into the groin in such a way that it really limits their forward and backward motion. However, you can pull the joints out a bit and cheat. Here's a CollectionDX review with more criticism than I can offer: http://www.collectiondx.com/review/robot_t...a_mokei_version
  15. That's a great idea. It would be cool if you could order one and specify which color you want it molded in (like ordering a T-shirt!). Get on it, Yamato!
  16. It would be nice if Yamato would go further beyond canon schemes. I've always wanted an olive (Army green) valk. No practical reason, I just think it would look cool. I think the reason they don't is there's never a guarantee how well non-canan schemes will sell.
  17. I thought it was incredibly cheap for the size and quality. 5680Y at AmiAmi with half off shipping was too good to pass up. http://www.amiami.jp/shop/?set=english&amp.../e_display.html
  18. Yeah, I took one look at that tool, chuckled, and left it (them, there are two) on the parts tree. Thanks. I didn't need the video, it was a very simple build. Still took me the better part of three hours, but I was taking my time end enjoying it. The build was fun as hell, and the finished product is more like a toy than a model. I might give it a light panel-line job with a mechanical pencil, but honestly I like it so much the way it is I might leave it alone.
  19. Has anyone built the 1/48 RX-78-2 Mega kit yet? I've got one coming in tomorrow and it'll be the first Gudam I've built since...2001 I think. Wondering if there is anything on the kit I need to watch out for or take extra care with. Seems to be a straight-forward and simple build.
  20. With Robotech and Totoro he helped introduce me to my two favorite anime pioneers, Kawamori and Miyazaki. RIP
