I've heard that before and I'm very skeptical of that. I have CDs that date back to 1992 that I have regularly listened to on a multitude of different home stereos, boom boxes, portable CD players and computers and they sound every bit as good as they did almost 20 years ago. As for DVD, the first DVD I ever bought was City of Lost Children back in 1999 or 2000. I just watched it recently and didn't notice any kind of degradation at all. I'm sure digital media does have a life span, everything does, but 2 to 4 years sounds like hooey. Of course I am aging too, so maybe my eyes and ears are degrading at the same exact rate as the CDs and DVDs which causes me to not notice.

Maybe it's for the best. I love Del Toro's films and I was curious to see what he could bring to the Hobbit, but I've never been able to forget what he said at Cannes in 2006: "I was never into heroic fantasy. At all. I don't like little guys and dragons, hairy feet, hobbits -- I've never been into that at all. I don't like sword and sorcery, I hate all that stuff." He's a great director for sure, but without a true love for the story and characters or even the genre it might have lacked something. It's too bad Jackson doesn't seem interested anymore. Unfortunately it's starting to seem like the time to make this film has passed. Of course that doesn't mean I don't want to see it made and wouldn't go see it. Regardless of who ends up directing it and when, if it does get made I'll be there on opening night.

I'm surprised we haven't seen any pictures of Grace beyond the original promo shots, which I think were just Photoshopped Breras. I need something to drool at here, Bandai!

No, no, no. NO! Everything is GOOD. And I'll punch anyone in the mouth who disagrees. What kind of idiot are you, anyway!!? **for those who can't process sarcasm, the above post contained more than a little.**

That's just their opinion based on personal taste though, I don't know if it should be taken as an argument. You're argument seems to be that the 1/55 cannot be better than newer toys because it is blocky, has akward proportions, lacks detail and lacks articulation. But obviously those things don't have the same relevance to everyone. We've all got different tastes. So while the 1/55 can't be better than newer stuff to you, it can be better to others...which should go without saying, really. And yes, it does get annoying when people think that their opinion is correct and should be shared by everyone.

I agree to an extent- if my only experience with Revoltech was the PVC figures I have, such as the original EVA01, I wouldn't have much interest in the line. Luckily figures like that don't represent the line as a whole. R:D has it's ups (FMP Savage) and downs (Nirvash) as well.
-
I don't think I can generalize either line enough to say one is better than the other considering both have such a wide variety. For example: It's inaccurate to say that Revoltech is a PVC line because not all of them are constructed of PVC. A lot of them are but several are made of hard plastic (nor sure if it is ABS or not). Professor Layton, Gloomy Bear, Suzuki and Tetsujin 28 are few examples of ones I own that are not the typical 'gummy' PVC. It's also interesting to note that the Revos made of hard plastic tend to have much better QC and paint applications than the PVC ones. Perhaps PVC just lends itself better to slop. While I tend to favor Robot Damashii's construction, articulation and overall finish - Revoltech tends to have more characters that interest me. Ultimitely I'm pretty happy with both lines and don't feel a need to champion one over the other in the general sense. Comparing two figures of the same character makes sense (such as the previously mentioned FMP figures) but not each line as a whole.

You should get the unpainted VF-1S. That way you can make it into whatever you want! On a completely unrelated note I have an unpainted VF-1S for sale.

Actually I'm pretty sure someone here posted pics of animated Starscream in gerwalk mode as far back as two years ago. Still cool though.
-
Not bad at all. i have to admit though, getting Animated Arcee recently really cools any fire I may have had for this one.

Yeah, August has always been the set date, but I was thinking that the reason could be because Hasbro had planned on having all of this Iron Man stuff out and wanted time to sell through on that stuff. The new TFs seem to be ready to go, especially since some of them have already been releaed in Australia.

So is it younger generations that have this weird crusade against nostalgia? I see it more on other boards, like TFW2005, but there seems to be a lot of people who try to argue that nostalgia is a bad thing and commonly throw insults at people who have nostalgic tendencies. It's a silly concept considering none of these toy forums and most modern toys would even exist if it weren't for nostalgia. It's even sillier considering that one can have nostalgia, enjoy the present and look toward the future. That said, while I love a lot of modern valk toys, the old 1/55 and Joke Machines are still my favorite VF-1 toys. On the flip side, my favorite VF-11 toy is the 1/60 Yamato. No nostalgia at all for the 1/72 version, which could almost be considered "vintage" these days. Keeping on topic, the most valk remorse I've felt is with the 1/60 YF-19. The price was remorseful, the problematic ordeal I had obtaining it from a fellow collector was remorseful and the toy itself was the most remorseful of all.
-
So...no peg until August, right? I wonder if we'd get these sooner if it weren't for the obscene oversaturation of Iron Man swag that Hasbro wants to move. :|

I'd be interested to see how popular Dead or Nemesis Prime would be in the US. Personally I'm not interested enough in either of them to even look at online photos.
-
Well there you go.

I'm playing devil's advocate - going by what others have said in the past it can't be considered "perfect transformation" because the intake covers have to be removed. I don't personally take that strict of a view on it. As long as the base unit doesn't have to come apart for transformation (such as legs and arms)that's "perfect" enough for me.
-
I'd be the first in line if it was Alf.
-
Nope, I was referring to the wings. You don't have to swap the wings, so using them in reference to partsforming is the same as calling swappable hands partsforming. Either way, neiter Yamato's toys nor Bandai's can truly be called "perfect transformation" anyway, so it's a moot point.
-
I thought we were past this stage, but oh well...
-
That's kind of like calling Yamato's 1/60 a partsformer because it comes with interchangable hands.
-
Actually from a lot of the reviews I've read this new version plays like a recruitment movie for the Tea Party, so you might like Robin Hood now.
-
We're still seeing prototypes so we wont really know weather or not it will require a stand until closer to September.
-
Looks great so far, especially being a resin prototype. I'm really curious how the transformation works, especially since they don't have to worry about "anime accuracy" on this one.
