Fantastic! It doesn't look like the classic Bumblebee, but it sure would make a sweet Alternator! I love the idea of the roof as a detachable sheild rather than a piece of kibble.
-
I'm not saying that they should be 'super articulated' or anything, but if at least their legs moved it would make a world of difference. If they put out some figures that aren't in extreme poses and have moveable legs, then I'll bite. For now...meh.
-
Those are the Armies of Middle Earth figures from Play Along Toys (previously known for crap such as Spy Kids). Some of them look OK, but for the most part I don't like the horky poses they're in and their lack of articulation. They're way overpriced too. Still, I might get the Fellowship pack that's coming out this winter since it would look cool to have the Fellowship lined up on top of my TV or something.
-
Only the 2-pack would be an exclusive, they'd be widely available individually. I know the idea of an Ipod Soundwave is a bit frightening, I was letting my imagination get the best of me. I'll go punish it with beer. OK, now I'm really off to the bar and/or pub.

how do you explain bumblebee generation 1 being the classic style beetle Or any of the other various Bumblebee incarnations, especially the Takara MyClones, the Smallest Transformers Bumblebee and the PVC version which I might add was also released here by Hasbro. Or what about Goldbug, or even that big VW Beetle Go-Bot (which was actually pretty cool). I know VW is fully embracing the whole hippie stereotype that's been associated with VW Bugs since, well, the 60's, but it seems very unlikely that they would be so gung-ho about it that they'd turn down an advertising opportunity like a licensed Transformers toy. And seeing as how VW and Apple have teamed-up with their Beetles and Ipods, maybe there could be a three-way deal where Soundwave is an Apple I-Pod (that actually works), Bumblebee is a new VW Beetle and they could be packaged together and thrown in as a deal-sweetener when someone buys a VW. Of course they would also be sold separately for those who aren't in the market for a car. Or maybe I just need to go get sauced. OK, off to the bar!

A car transforming into a robot is a very, very loose association with war. Especially since the Alternators don't even have a story to go with them yet. So far they are just cool looking cars that turn into cool looking robots, and I'd hope VW would see it that way. I wouldn't want Bumblebee to end up as a freaking BMW Mini or something.

Sideswipe is looking great! I can't wait to see what the next Alternator they reveal will be. Hope it's Bumblebee! B)

I'm not one for petty nit-picking, guys, but I thought you might like to know that the 'cab' of a semi truck is the front part (the Optimus part) and the trailer is, well, the trailer.
-
I just noticed that his feet aren't fully transformed in those pics. There is supposed to be a piece that flips out to give more of a 'foot' look and less of a car fender look.
-
Judging by that pic of him next to the G1 figure, he appears to be 1/24 or in that general ballpark. I love your idea of using a trailer from a different semi toy, it sounds like a custom even I could do! And I think I might still have an old NAPA Auto Parts toy trailer kicking around somewhere at my folks house that just might be the right size.

Beeeeeeeeautiful! Thanks! However..... The lighter blue we've been seeing in the newer pics gives me some pause. It doesn't look bad at all, but I like the darker shade better. And where is the diecast? Every bit of him looks like plastic. I'm hoping this is the Hasbro version and the Japanese release will have all the diecast we've been led to expect, along with a darker toned paintjob, which would really enhance it's realism. Still though...DAMN!! That is a fine, fine Transformer! B)

I'll see it, but only to look at Milla. B)

The topic is on the second page, still open for replies and everything.

Bleh, I hope Takara changes their minds. I had Astrotrain when I was a kid and even though it's a memorable Transformer, it's not one of the best and I have no desire to own one again. And if they're going to reissue any of the mini-bots they should do it in a different manner rather than the commemorative series. I thought for sure Rodimus Prime or one of the Dinobots would be up next. Oh well...I'll be spending too much money on the Alternators and Prime to pay any attention to the oldies anyway.

And here I was thinking that I'd be able to get by without ever buying a PS2 or GameCube...now it looks like I'll be forced to by those evil monkeys at Capcom.

Where can I get Neon Genesis Evangelion?
eriku replied to Jawjaw's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I did the marathon the first time I watched it. I didn't want to, but I couldn't stop. I got hardly any sleep before work the next day, and what little sleep I did get was filled with messed-up EVA dreams. I felt weirdly introspective the whole next day too, which was only amplified by my lack of sleep. So listen to what uncle Nightbat said and don't do a marathon!. -
I don't even care if it's a coy 'nod' to something they like, it's a complete copy of someone else's design and truly shows a lack of creativity. Booo. On the other hand, how many Marvel fans that aren't familiar with NGE or anime in general do you think will see an Eva unit at some point and think it's a rip-off of Marvel's "sentinel"?

HOLY CRAP!!! Super Real Bruce Lee Figure
eriku replied to kidkorrupt's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I just downloaded her song from Underworld, Rocket Collecting, and it's really, really, reaaaaally good! Dammit girl, get a whole album out pronto! I don't see how anyone could NOT fall in love with her after the "Big, big,Bada-boooom!!!" line. The "Multipass!" thing was cute too. -

Well, she has two albums. The first one was released in 93/94 and is called The Divine Comedy, and is fantastic (in my most humble of opinions of course). Hard to describe, but there's a lot of different instruments used and a very 'earthy' and sort or renniasance vibe to it. MTV used to play her video for "The Gentleman Who Fell" all the time, primarily because she's, well, nude throughout it. You should be able to find the CD in most music stores or online at Amazon and the like. Her second album is called The Peopletree Sessions and is more electronic based and somewhat experimental. It's good, but totally different from her first. She was in a band for a year or two called "Plastic Has Memory" who never released anything but it's easy to find live recordings online. Kind of spacy etherial rock. She has a new band now but they just started playing together so there isn't a name or recordings or anything like that yet. Oh, she also has a new song on the Underworld soundtrack, but I haven't heard it yet. -

Dude! Why did you have to go and show me that?? I'm a huge Milla fan (mostly because of her music) and now I have to find a way to get that figure. -
That is great! If Hasbro had him in that color scheme I'd probably buy one. I'd love to see some pics of bot mode. Did you paint over the silly clear parts?
-
This settles it. I'm officially more excited for Prime than I am for any of the upcoming Macross releases. With the possible exception of the 1/48 VF-0.
-
I really like the Starscream, but the deciding factor in my purchase of him will be wether ot not those big cannons are removable. They look terrible. Jetfire looks alright too, slightly better than the Armada version. HotShot piques my interest as well. I don't mind the colors, but I'm a Bumblebee fan so... I agree with the mixed bag comment. Armada was like a bag of poo with some shiny rocks in it, and Energon appears to be a bag of poo with some pearls in it. <_< I still refuse to complain though, because Prime and the Alternators are a mighty powerful salve and can sooth any further sores from Hasbro.

I thought it was a great little "art film". I watched an un-subbed version though, so I could only take it in on a visual level. Animeniacs has the HK DVD for sale, with subs and extras, for $21.
