And when everything was going so well...
eriku replied to wakobi's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Moderating makes one...bitter...doesn't it? No, its just that he's getting all this credit and he really had nothing to do with it except the stupid parts that he felt the need to add. Tolkien had mad reference materials, including art. Look at all his other movies and you'll see what a no-talent hack he is. I hope he doesn't get his hands on any other beloved franchises. PS- On the whole, I like the LOTR movies, but I know that he had little to do with this fact. Well, considering I like Dead Alive, Feebles and Heavenly Creatures, I guess I can't hop on your train. I can't say I'm looking forward to Kong though since I've never thought the concept of Kong was very interesting. I like monkeys and apes and everything...but...meh. -

Not at TRU here in Minnesota (well, I didn't check all of them...), but I did have to cave and get an Energon Skyblast, which is actually a pretty kick-ass toy in spacecraft and bot mode. Really, really tiny though. Still, it's better than pretty much anything from Armada. PICS: http://www.angelfire.com/geek/czahr/Skyblast.html

My god, people, the film is going to be great and you wont be disappointed. I don't know why so many people are scaring themselves sh!tless thinking that ROTK is going to be a failure. Some sort of doom fetish or something. -
I hope Will at Blasto gets his in soon.

Am I the only one that doesn't like to examine every square centimeter of a toy in pornographic detail before I get it? It takes away some of the magic for me I guess. Like a Star Wars fanboy reading the script before the movie comes out.

Err...wasn't he supposed to be a little prick in Episode II? Come on, it's the young Darth Vader, the guy should be a real a-hole.

How could anyone think this was something that needed to be done? Here's hoping TATU is involved in some sort of foul controversey before this project gets off the ground. Something nearly as foul as the Milli Vanilli scandal, but not quite that foul since I don't wish for one of the girls to kill herself over it.

You never know. I don't feel that Macross II, Plus, 7, or Zero has cheapened the original SDF series, so by that rationale I couldn't see more FLCL cheapening the first series. It did have closure, but it was open-ended enough to pretty much allow for anything to happen, and the characters are interesting enough to allow for further exploration without thinning them out too much. At least another set of 6, is that too much to ask?

I know, I know, this is far from the first, second or probably even 20th thread about FLCL, but I just watched it again tonight and I wanted to throw out this question: Does anyone think there will be more? It seems to me like they could have easily gotten 26 episodes out of the story and characters. And since the main characters are all still alive and kicking, with so many unanswered questions, it seems entirely possible that another FLCL series could come along. Maybe I'm just a no good, dirty dreamer, but I'd like to think that one day Haruko will fly back on her scooter and have more adventures (and Kanchi of course!) FLCL was such a unique and great series that I almost feel cheated with only 6 episodes. Like getting a delicious sample at a grocery store and discovering the item is all sold out. Ahhhh...and then there's TOYS that I demand! I love Kaiyodo's Haruko figure, scooter and Kanchi, but I want a Naota, a Kanchi with a big gaping maw to swallow Naota, Mamimi with the cell-phone munching robot (in various stages) and all those large alien EVA-angel-like beasties. There are so many opportunities! Maybe someday I guess.

Which is your favorite Star Wars movie?
eriku replied to Jolly Rogers's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Which do I like the best? Phantom Menace. Why? Jar Jar Binks Will I explain? No. -
Oh my....that's the most beautiful thing I've seen all weekend! Watching that player get all those 1-UPs by bomb-bouncing was like watching pure magic. I was sort of let down though that it cut off before the end-sequence.

Ahhh yes...I forgot about that pic. Thanks!

Damn, that looks shibby!! I'm sure some people will have an issue with the strange articulation and the queer folding 'heels', but I actually really the design. The visible screws should maybe be painted, but that's an easy custom job. One thing that's cool is the figure will most likely be a harder ABS plastic if they're using screws. I can't wait! ::edit:: After looking at the pics more, I think that poor Rei might be void of shoulder articulation. That stinks, but it's not enough to dampen my desire for it.

I'm sure they probably do consider him a triple-changer, but that's about as much of a stretch as calling the M.A.S.K. car a 'jet' when the doors open up. Or calling tracks a tripple changer with his wings deployed Ah yes, that would be a bit more accurate wouldn't it? I hope someone gets ahold of an Arcee prototype soon so we can see some good shots where she's not wearing all that crap. If it's proportionate and there isn't some kind of horrible kibble hidden by that BFG, then she just may be my favorite Energon figure so far.

Yes. Waitaminute....ARCEE!?!? Now THAT is the one I've been waiting for. She leaves a lot to be desired though. Maybe she'll look better without all that irritating and silly candy-like 'energon' junk plastered all over her. <_< The rest of the new toys on that page look like garbage to me. Mirage has a cool bot mode, but his vehicle is such a stupid and random looking design...blech.

Got mine today too and they're beautiful! Can anyone suggest any specific paint markers that might work the best for these little guys? I've never painted something this small before so naturally I'm afraid I'll have a total disaster on my hands.

I thought the show got a little easier to stomach somewhere around the middle of the series, but overall it's not a very fulfilling or even entertaining series. It is to anime what the Armada toys are to transforming toys: Sub-par and barely acceptable. I'm guessing Energon will be more of the same, although the toys are very slightly better looking.

Yeah, and that pretty much means next September or October.

Damn you! Reading all that buttery talk about the 1J while seeing your avatar gyrate in the corner of my eye...now I HAVE to splurge and buy one! And I wasn't going to buy any more 1/48s! GAHH!!!

Me! I'd love a full line of Chobits figures. Speaking of....what ever happened to that really cool 1:1 scale Sumomo figure that someone posted pictures of a long time ago? Did that get canned?

If Twin Moons ends up offering I'll cancel my preorder with TokyoCentral. I'm sure TC is a great site, but I'd rather support the smaller guys. That and I've ordered from TM before, so I know they have fantastic service.

Got my preorder in. The figure seems to be pretty small (110mm) but since it comes with the manga the price isn't too bad. Can't wait for april!
