  1. I will have to respectfully disagree with you there, at least in my case. When Transformers started I was a little kid living out in the country with only a few channels on the television, none of them broadcasting TF. My first ever experience with TF was going to a Sears store in a larger city and seeing a lone Windcharger hanging on a peg. I had never seen nor heard of the "Transformers" before, nor any morphing toys for that matter. I latched onto that Windcharger tight and made sure my parents knew I wasn't going to leave without it. Lucky for me those mini-cars were pretty cheap. Anyway, I LOVED that little guy, and craved to know more about the Transformers. More and more kids at my school started showing up with different Transformers toys and it drove me nuts because I couldn't find any in my little podunk town. When I started seeing the bigger ones like Jazz I really started to drool. Then I heard some of my friends talking about the cartoon. There was a CARTOON?!?! I was going insane knowing there were not only more of these toys out there, but an actual show to go along with it. Later that year my family moved to a different town. After everything was moved into the new house and my dad hooked up the television, the FIRST thing I saw glowing from the screen, like some sort of god welcoming me to my knew home, was Optimus Prime. I sat there in awe and watched the Transformers cartoon for the first time. After that I watched it as much as I could and since we lived closer to a large city where my mom did all her shopping it was a lot easier for me to find all sorts of toys. Today I have a nostalgic love for the cartoon, but it's purely that. I think on a quality level it's pretty poorly written and features some fairly average animation. It's just not that great of a show when stacked up against other anime. It's the little boy inside me that allows me to even watch it at all.
  2. My vote goes to the lanky Evas, but I'm sure Fatty T-28 will displace them with his tubby self when he is released.
  3. Has anyone recieved theirs from Tokyo Central yet? I'm still impatiently waiting.
  4. Yeah, more and more I'm unsure of how much I really like Tracks. It's definately better than a LOT of other TFs, but his look just doesn't seem to gel with the other Bin/Alts.
  5. 77.5% pure, and I hope to keep it that way.
  6. Those look fantastic! I'm still wondering how Toynami's Chobits figures are going to look. They announced the license last year but haven't shown anything yet. I'm guessing they wont look half as good as these do.
  7. Nah. For one it would probably be a repaint and for two, Magnus is a tool.
  8. I don't claim to be privy to the decision making process of Toynami so I don't claim to know the answer to my question. However, if what you say is true, why would they delay the release of the YF-1R until after Christmas? If your theory is true, how do you explain that Toynami delayed the release of the item until after the busiest shopping days of the year? Wouldn't it be better to do so before Christmas? I don't think Christmas is really a factor in the realm of fanboys and overpriced toys.
  9. Seriously now, you KNOW that Toynami's 'delays' are essentially just a hype device, right? They want to get people all worked up into a frenzy with their 'lets just wait a liiiiiiitle bit longer...' game and then release the product right at the line between super-hyped and I-don't-even-frakking-want-it-anymore. The sad thing is that when they do finally stop dangling the carrot it's all rotten and nasty and makes you sick.
  10. Hey, great drawing BoB, that's a sweet tribute to Mitsuteru-san.
  11. And here's more (very crappy) pics of the RM line. On the top is in-package pics and on the bottom is a shot that gives us a good idea of the scale. Judging from the repaints that Prime is standing next to, he's going to be even smaller than his G1 self. The RobotMasters are supposed to hit in July. My credit card and I will be awaiting their arrival.
  12. Here's a page out of Dengenki that shows a prototype shot of RM Convoy. This thing still looks like a great toy to me, and poseable too. Also notice the silver Tracks... If this is indeed going to be a silver varient then I am definately passing over Tracks and his yellow self.
  13. Actually, the G1 series was specifically designed as 30 minute toy commercials too. Every Transformers series has story, from Beast Wars & RID to Armada and Energon, but that doesn't mean the writing is good. One thing that HAS been consistant with them all is that they've all been toy commercials. I think Beast Wars had the most solid writing but it still wasn't fantastic and it had the most unappealing toys (to me). When compared to anime in general, all the TF series are very sub-par and weak. Trying to figure out which one is better than the others is like trying to pick your favorite red-headed stepchild. I've always been a Transformers fan, but I'm only in it for the toys.
  14. Sheesh, how did I miss this thread? This is one Macross toy that definately has me exited. A transformable Koenig Monster is almost too good to be true.
  15. It's done really well but I just can't get into the wolf theme, they're just not that interesting to me.
  16. Yeah, he definately seems to have more articualtion. I like how the shoulders are done to allow his arms to come closer to the sides. I think you're right about the waist joint, and Bandai should be able to work their magic to come up with a movable T-28 head. I wonder if they will do a 'retro black and white' version of Fatty?
  17. Well, TC just took payment for Rei out of my account this morning. I can only assume that they are slipping her into a box and getting her ready to ship out right now. Hopefully by this time next week she'll be here!
  18. And then send it to my house because some of my shelves are even worse.
  19. I'm confident that Minneapolis will get it. So far every theatrically released Anime film released in the last few years has made it to one or two of the 'hip' theaters here. One of those theaters is showing the first Ghost in the Shell movie Saturday night. It's not the best movie by any means, but it's good enough to check out on the big screen.
  20. For those of you who renewed your order with TC, did you at least get an email confirming that your order was placed? I got a confirmation instantly. I haven't gotten anything saying my order was finalized or shipped, but not every store does that. My only concern now is how many anxiety filled days I'm going to have to wait before Rei shows up on my doorstep.
  21. I don't get why people assume this line will be cheaply made crap. It's Takara, they usually treat TF lines pretty well. My take on this line is that it's just Takara's version of Hasbro's Universe line. The main difference is that this line seems to be a lot more interesting and has a lot better choices with better paint schemes. Why do so many people always assume the worst? To avoid disappointment?
  22. Hey BoB, wanna have a little contest between the two of us to see who gets it first? This is such great news, I've been pining for a SOC T-28 for a few years now. I've got the Soft Garage version, which has been a very suitable substitute, but nothing quite matches the artistic beauty of a true SOC. Wheee!
  23. Takara would have be loose their marbles to NOT put out seeker repaints. The seekers are money in the bank.
  24. Wow, that's really great to hear, Oshii should be proud. I wish I could be at Cannes this year to see Innocence and Michael Moore's new film Fahrenheit 911, which is only the second documentary to chosen at Cannes in the last 50 years or so. The other was Bowling for Columbine.
