You mean like hobo skeletons?

Does anyone else think it would be really funny if Hasbro started blind-packaging their Star Wars figures?
-
I'm guessing at least $120 for Mr. Monster. Can't wait for my month-long ramen diet when this guy is released.

Ditto. Unit-02 looks like some candid shot of a factory worker plucking something from an assembly line - not menacing at all. Unit-01, however, is f'ing wicked, and will be proudly displayed with the rest of my EVA collection. Based on the diecast cars in the background, these figures look pretty big. I suppose they could be 2-up prototypes though. Does anyone know how Yamato usually does their protos? Same size or bigger?

I saw it last night, which was purely by luck because I'm usually and unfortunatley asleep long before Conan starts. It was funny as hell, and all I could think of was this place when Pierre was ranting and mispronouncing 'Macross'. Sometimes this little niche we have in the anime universe seems so separated from the real world, but according to Conan, there are at least 1 or 2 other Japanese anime fans out there that share Pierre's opinion.

Gah, Smokescreen is cool, but not that cool. If all of those re-releases are going to happen I hope they are done in very limited amounts so they don't pile up on Takara. -
Eh, those Geom things from NECA are fugly. If they were Kubricks or even Mini-mates I'd probably go for it, but not those barrel-chested balloon headed abominations.

Wow, this is my favorite episode so far! Even without being able to understand what was being said, the visuals painted such a vivid story that I didn't feel I was missing anything at all. Man, I'm really yearing for some kick-ass toys of all the M0 mechas now. I wish someone would get the ball rolling on that. I hope Nora makes it into the next set of gashapons too.

It'll be just like that trek episode, Mirror Mirror!!!! Yes, and maybe they can put little mustaches and goatees on the Decepticons! I hope no one from Hasbro is reading this, wouldn't want to give them any ideas. -

I think this thread underlines the Fanboy Catch 22 theory: Takara makes a new series of transformers that very closely resembles the original series in style and transformation = Fans are upset some of them transform the same way. Takara makes a new series of Transformers that does not closely resemble the original series = Fans are upset that the figures don't look enough like G1. In the G1 line, Smokescreen, Bluestreak and Prowl were all identical except for the paint and Jazz was nearly the same but with some modifications in car design. In the Bin/Alt line, Smokescreen and Silverstreak are also the same (actually, Silverstreak has MORE changes than the G1 version did) and Jazz is nearly the same but with some modifications in car design. Why Takara is getting pissed on by people moaning about similar transformations and repaints is simply amazing to me. It must be maddening for a company when you think that your giving the fans exactly what they want and half of the fans poo-poo it because they don't even know what they want. Now, I do have my own gripe. I still think it's a shame that the Decepticons are going to be nothing more than more repaints/slight resulpts of existing Autobots. I just think it will look rather strange for a collection to have the good guys and the bad guys facing off and one side just looks like Bizarro-world versions of the other. -

Looks like a Photochop to me. Actually, the original non-watermarked pic originated from a Hong Kong TF forum forum Interesting. It still looks like a Photoshop job to me. The colors just seem to have that 'not quite real' feel to them. Maybe it's just the quality of the pic. Either way, it would be nice if the final release has a similar scheme. -
I'm glad more people will be getting a shot at this guy. Definately one of my favorite toys ever!

It's the watermark of the guy who did the Photoshop job, "DragonX76". The guy seriously needs a new watermark. -

That works too.

"multiple bites at the apple." They can take multiple bites at my apple. If they're going to have that attitude and gloat about it then I'll be happy to go right ahead and buy a HK bootleg of the two DVD set when it comes out.

That's only fan speculation, we don't know if it's true. Graham Ahhh, how quickly fan speculation translates into 'fact'. thanks for clearing that up! Now if only the Dismantle & Swap transformation were fan specualtion as well!

I can't believe Yamato plans to use this thing as a guage for people's interest in M0 toys, they seem like they'd have more business sense than that. Most of the people that have been buying Yamato's top-shelf Macross pieces aren't going to want to add this scrappy thing to their collection. It seems to suggest that Yamato has little interest in or respect for Macross 0, and that they have no hope for Macross 0 toys. In order to lure people into something you need to wow them, not present them with some pile of pieces that doesn't even look that great when it's finally assembled. The most insulting thing is that Kawamori made it so easy for a 'perfect transformation' toy of the VF-0 to be made by putting swing bars into the animation. Yamato thanks him by making a valk that has to be completely dismantled and then rebuilt. I'm still holding onto hope that some other company will embrace Macross 0 and give it the quality line of toys that it deserves. Hell, I'd even take a gander at what Toynami could come up with. At least their VF-0 would have swing bars.

Awesome. The bright side of these high gas prices is that it's going to open a lot more eyes to fuel alternatives. Whatever happened to that engine Ford was developing that runs on the energy given off from the combination of hydrogen and oxygen and it's only emission is water? Or did I dream that?

NGE had some young children in it, occasionally depicted in a sexual manner, but that's really not the same as several graphic scenes depicting full-on intercourse. Comparing KITE to Evangelion is far more offensive than any hentai.
-
Maybe it's just the way the light is hitting it in these shots, but the overall finishing job on it seems to be much better. It actually looks like a quality toy now. I just wish we could know for sure wether or not it is one. I'd buy one for $50.
-
I originally bought Kite because the narrative on the back of the case compared it to The Professional, which is one of my favorite movies. Talk about false advertising. This anime has so little merit that the restored sex scenes are basically the only thing keeping it alive.

quite the opposite. they came in towards the end. after the credits had started rolling. the different homages/parodies to Spiderman and LOTR were great at the beginning.... Damn, I usually stay until the credits are over too. Sometimes, like tonight, the people I go with think that's just crazy. If Ferris Bueller taught us anything it's to sit through the credits!

Saw it and loved it! Well, the La Vida Loca scene made me wince, but it wasn't really any worse than Smashmouth doing "I'm a Believer" at the end of the first one. One question, I remember hearing something about baby donkey-dragons in this movie, were they at the very beginning? We came in a little late, during the scene where Fiona wipes the mud off Shrek's face and kisses him.
-
Nooo! Is it before or during the credits? I'm going to see this movie tonight but I'd like to be a safe distance away from the theater before that song begins. *shudder*
