  1. Thanks for the info! Considering the unique design of these figures it's not surprising that they came from an independant sculptor. And I should have known that the same creative force was behind the new Chirico Cuvie figure from Votoms. It's got a similar style to it with the unique and highly functional articulation, not to mention the metal rivets in the joints. Now I'm even more happy to be getting the Chirico figure!
  2. Maybe I haven't been paying close enough attention, but has it ever been established what company/studio is sculpting these figures? Is it a branch of Kaiyodo?
  3. Has anyone noticed that Marvin, although being played by Warwick Davis, is being voiced by Stephen Moore who did Marvin in the TV series? And like Graham pointed out, I'm very leary of Mos Def as Ford Prefect. Nothing against Mos Def, but he's about the last person I'd think of tp play Ford.
  4. Speaking of the logo, why is the thumb/planet thing and not the round green guy with the tongue? In fact, haven't seen the green guy associated at all with this film. Some sort of trademark dispute?
  5. Of course, I wasn't being serious. Please see the at the end of that post. As for Marvin, I like the look of that fat little roundy robot a lot, but not as Marvin. Oh well, it'll make a cool action figure.
  6. Same here. Aside from Yoda figures (I've got a thing for the little green guy in plastic) the only SW figures I've bought in the last couple years are from the VOTC line. I bought Chewie, Han, Luke, Yoda and Boba Fett and they are all pretty much the best figures of those characters. Luke is almost hobbit-sized though, which is kind of a bummer. I haven't liked any of the ROTS figures I've seen so far either. I know I'll get Yoda, though, and if Grevious can have his arms combined so it looks like he has two, I'll pick him up as well. I kind of like the Clones figures from the animated series better than most of the movie figures. I don't have any of them but they look really nice. The show is fantastic, too.
  7. AltaVista probably wont let them use that term.
  8. Ditto. I knew not of the thread myself.
  9. Heh, the juggernaut that Star Wars is it's pretty naieve for ANY movie to think it can compete with it. Regardless of wether it's good or bad, it'll overshadow everything else that month. That said, I'm looking forward to the Hitchhiker movie. Hopefully it will at least be better than the BBS series (which did have it's charm).
  10. Yep, I see a white one driving around town here from time to time.
  11. Hmmm....they appear to be different trailers. The inside of the trailer that's coming "January 15th" has some ridges/slats just inside the open door. On those new pics the ridges/slats aren't there. Could be a more advance prototype though. Either way, the TFing one looks great and I hope these are one in the same. And affordable.
  12. I can see Graham's point on how Bandai probably just wanted to wash their hands of Macross altogether. It's unfortunate, but from a business POV Macross hasn't really been that good to them in the last few years. I think if Macross Zero had been a smash hit then Bandai might have raised an eyebrow and maybe even blew the dust off the sketch pads to draw some toy designs, but as it is nobody is begging for Zero toys, or even really caring if any ever come (besides all of us freaks here, of course). Even Yamato, our seemingly last keeper-of-the-flame doesn't seem to concerned about making Zero toys. Look at the one that they almost put out, even that seemed half-hearted and somewhat tossed-off. But there's got to be some company out there who is willing to take a chance. Who maybe even has a few Macross fans within. Maybe make a few small runs of some quality toys (expensive, yes, but we'd pay it). Am I dreaming? Sure, a little. But in the weird world of Japanese toys I have learned to never swear off any possibility. And if all else fails we've always got Harmony Gold to milk the dead horse. They could take MZero, redub it so Shin is Rick Hunter, and make it some sort of crazy 'lost weekend' where Rick and Roy get stranded on an island that just happens to have a large supply of Protoculture. Then they could have Toynami dig out their vats of candy-cane formula and make a new 'Masterpiece' VF-0 toy.
  13. Cool. I just wouldn't want to feel like we were begging for something like spoiled brats. It was awefully nice of him to recast that TF cannon last month, especially since he didn't have a personal interest in it. He's lucky that there aren't hundreds of trannys from other boards filling his inbox with all kinds of requests. Or maybe there are and he's in for a surprise when he gets home. And, YES, I would love a Shinji figure done in this style. The Adam crucifix seat is a great idea. Shinji is long overdue for an action figure and having him done in this style would make up for it. He could come with the Lance of Longinus, too. Poor Shinji always gets overlooked because he's a whiney little bitch rather than a sexy little bitch.
  14. Ditto. The Asuka figure is the main thing I'm after, but that doesn't mean I'm not excited by the skull throne. I like the seat that Rei came with, but this skull throne looks even better to me. Sure it's not really a 'series accurate' thing, but I love the design and symbolism of it. Would there be a chance of Rohby recasting it? I'd love a second one for Rei. Poor Rohby, we must keep him pretty busy!
  15. D'oh! Thanks, I didn't notice the extra skull in that photo. Man, maybe I WILL find a way to justify $65 for this thing. Especially after having another look at the intricate tree of life pattern etched into the side of the throne.
  16. May I highlight this ? guys , IT AIN´T A FATAL PROBLEM. you can still play with it , pose it , AND transform it , don´t sweat it . Anyway ,as for me I´m getting this boy with or without problems. Hopefully this is just the beggining , I wouldn´t mind for a 1/100 Vf-5000 as long as they make one ( would love something bigger but if they have to be concistent ) Yeah, and you can carry on a full and satisfying life with only 9 toes, but people still want to hear about the one that broke off.
  17. Waaaaaaaaait just a minute here....there are two different skulls on those thrones! Asuka's has 4 eye sockets (look closely) and Rei's has only 1 (as it should)!! Does this mean Asuka's throne comes with interchangable heads? Man, I want this thing even more now!
  18. Are you referring to the tab that is thought to have been assembled backwards? And what do you mean by only one side? I fear your lack of specification will lead us down the road of rampant speculation and paranoia. As far as being thankful goes, I think the Monster is just about at the top of my "Thank you, Yamato!!" list. Of course if they ever graced us with a transforming Macross the Monster would have to step down.
  19. $65?? I love this figure but not for that price. I paid $30 for Rei, which is pretty high for what it is, but not too expensive for my blood. I hope it's possible to get Asuka from other places for a better price.
  20. Yep, she's been my favorite PT character since Episode I. It'll be hard to see her go in Episode III. I just hope she gets to kick some more butt before she's gone.
  21. Just a reissue in different colors. I'd say the colors are bad, but I didn't like the G1 colors either. I'm undecided if the new colors are an improvement or not. It just kind of bugs me how the entire Universe line has this aweful purple/yellow/orange theme going on. Here's the bot forms. I couldn't find a combined pic of the new ones, but you can find pics of the G1 versions here: http://www.tfu.info/1988/Decepticon/Piranacon/piranacon.htm
  22. This should be the final color for the seacons. I kind of like Snaptrap, but the rest don't really do much for me.
  23. For the most part that's true, but it does help to show that Anakin has abilities that are indeed above and beyond other humans. It also allows the audience to be much more accepting when he is in the cockpit at the end... All very true, but I'd still take it out.
  24. So really there's nothing left for me to look forward to from Energon. Although I will be tempted by the G1-homage Starscream.
  25. Yikes. I didn't know he made sounds. Mine should be in my hands by Monday afternoon. By Monday evening I should have him gutted and the sound box neatly removed and in the trash. I hates me some noisy transformers. I doubt you'd have to go that far. Just remove the batteries and you shouldn't have to worry about sound :-p I like to take out the works. That's just how much I hate sound effects. Maybe I'll even smash it before throwing it away.
