  1. While I always prefer new designs, characters and stories, I wouldn't object to a full SDFM renewal. Would be really awesome to see the story told with today's animation, maybe add/change some things and extend the story past where it ends in the original and show us where Hikaru goes...
  2. Yeah, set of 4 for $100 or $30 each. Tempted to get a Hikaru since I never picked one up back when they were originally out.
  3. No, that was due to having too much metallic pigment in the plastic that caused it to not bond as well as it should have.
  4. Nah, it's a similar style but the sculpts are completely different. One of the biggest differences is the chestplate. It goes over the shoulder's on Toynami's for some inexplicable reason.
  5. Do they even make those 1/100 VFs anymore? I haven't seen them solicited for four years yet they haul them out for Toy Fair every single year.
  6. I can only assume it was the first VF-11B since you said it's been over ten years since you bought a Macross toy. If that's the case, that toy in particular was broken by many people. Yamato went a long way up after that (the 1/60 VF-19 is one of the finest transforming toys ever made), and so far Arcadia seems to have the same high standards, although the upcoming YF-19 will be the first true 'new' release from them.
  7. Hell yes! Now I can forget about the one CMs showed a few years ago and never released.
  8. Yep! Soon all (or perhaps some) will be revealed.
  9. As far as my inner child is concerned, he always wanted and never got a 1/55 Roy, but now that I have one as an adult the inner child has been satisfied. As for my outer manchild...I see myself always buying the VF-1, any new transforming version, from any company, until the day I die. It's my favorite transforming mech design, over any other. I never grow tired of it. While many VF-1 toys are excellent, and some are close enough to be perfect, I love exploring each new rendition to see what it has done differently, even on the not-so-great versions. I'm fascinated by that. The "ultimate" toy I've been dreaming about for years that I hope we will see someday is a 1:18 scale transforming VF-1 with articulated pilots, ratcheting joints and lots of detail in the cockpit.
  10. the only incentive I can see for Lego to want to drive HG out of business/buy them out/etc is if there was a big-budget Robotech movie about to happen and Lego wanted to do a full line for it (yes, I know one has been planned for ages). But as M'Kyuun said, I don't see them putting forth the effort for a special release of the VF-1. Although it my heart of hearts I hope one of the decision-makers at Lego is a Macross fan and likes to make risky business decisions...
  11. Mine was 21,800 yen (AmiAmi) in December 2011.
  12. I'm just planning for it to eat up roughly $300 after shipping. Anything less than that I'll consider a blessing.
  13. Ironically the valkyries on the site banner up on top of the page have the same pinkish hue.
  14. Oh Shawshank! Jesus, I've only seen it seven times. I'm disappointed with myself.
  15. hehe...I should know what movie that's from.
  16. Every part of the unpainted kits had that same hue. POM feels more 'waxy' than ABS and doesn't hold paint well. It would make sense for those areas on the Arcadia VF-1 to be POM since they are high-impact areas (or easy to break like the tailfin latch). I don't have the thing on hand at the moment or I'd see if those parts feel like POM. Also I'm not even sure if the plastic has a pinkish/purplish hue or if that shade of white is particularly good at reflecting that color spectrum from lighting. It's definitely more noticable in some lighting than others, and can be more noticable in photos than it is to the naked eye. Here is my unpainted 1S in sunlight and here it is under 70-watt incandescent bulbs. Here is my 1J unpainted kit under a single flourescent bulb.
  17. I mentioned the color differences a while back. I have no real guess as to why they are cast in different colored plastic. The parts with a slightly pink/purple hue are all in areas that aren't as noticeable so Arcadia seems to have been deliberate and considerate with its use. Perhaps someone with a better grasp of manufacturing or plastics can chime in.
  18. This is just fantastic. The 0D is one I've wanted for years so I will eagerly anticipate its release. I'll also look forward to the 0S and 0A that will likely come later. The Zero VFs are some of my favorite designs but the Yamato toys just didn't hold up.
  19. No, they pretty much let that license go to crap, too.
  20. I don't get the point of that one at all. For one thing, it doesn't really make a good looking Blaster to me since it shares so much aesthetically with Soundwave - even with the extensive altering is still mostly looks like Soundwave in a Blaster costume. Also...if they were going to do that much extensive altering to MP Soundwave, why not just make a Blaster completely from scratch since he's got one of the most simple alt modes and transformations? Odd indeed. I prefer the UT Blaster but I'm still hoping, praying and sacrificing small woodland creatures for a MP Blaster with minions.
  21. There's only one VF-1 repaint left that I'd buy, a 1/48 style low-viz with 1S, 1J, 1A and 1D heads included.
  22. Hey man, thanks for even considering it! I got rid of mine, too. After the 7th piece fell off I got sick of being frustrated with it and boxed it up and sold it.
  23. I still love the 1/48 and will always hang on to at least one of them. "Don't tread on me." Get it?
