Looks like they attacked it with a can of matte black spray paint. And they didn't bother to get the inner fingers, either.

Wow, even though they're uber-spendy I'll have to at least try to get Rei. Damn, those are fantastic! And even though I'm sure they'll never do it, I hope they make a Shinji. Poor Shinji, he's the main character and he gets constantly shafted when it comes to toys.

Family Guy Stewie Griffin the Untold Story
eriku replied to Otaku-Smeghead's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, all of that can be explained by the fact that people use those time-machine watches in the future, right? -
Don't you mean...HorriBRICK? The only thing that ever made me want Star Convoy was the little Hot Rod that comes with it. Now that WST Hot Rod exists, and more importantly is sitting on my shelf, I am quite happy to avoid this thing like a plague.

Some words that come immediately to mind: Bricktastic Brickalicious Bricktacular Count Brickula Blocky McBrick Dr. Brickenstein

I just wish they would mix the scenes back into the film like the LOTR EE.

Most likely, yes. I'm assuming they'll keep everything in the HBS line the same scale (or in scale with each other), meaning G1 Prime should be the same size or smaller than the Robotmasters Prime. I personally like that, but I can understand why the size would turn a lot of people off. Using the existing HBS figure as an example, Galaxy Force Convoy, I think it's a better toy overall than the large original version. The detailing is spot-on, it has a couple more features that are really cool (the guns have handles for one thing) and it's just really cool how such a small toy can be so well made and have so much articulation. I guess I find it more impressive overall. Thinking of a G1 Prime done in the same style, using Masterpiece Prime as a diving board, really makes me feel all warm and melty.

Although I was slightly sad to see it go, I'm glad I got rid of my Alpha. That brittle plastic material bugs the crap out of me. I think they get their 'plastic' from the same candy-cane factory as McFarlane Toys. Go ahead and lick one of those Alphas, I bet they taste all sugary.

Isn't G1 Hybrid Prime set for a March 2006 release? If so, there's definately a prototype out there that we'll probably see sooner than later. It typically takes a year or more from sketch to final product. This looks to be the best Prime yet. For as much as I love MPC Prime, and for as weird as I feel saying it, he's just too big for me to really enjoy playing with. I'm all for a teensy version with better cosmetics. And a freakin' trailer!

Yeah, no matter what I would expect there to be a hinge. I'm guessing it will be a lot less prone to breakage as it wont rely on that track mechanism of the VF-1. Although it was a very clever design on the VF-1 it was rather fiddly and I found it to be a real weakness in the overall appeal of the toy.
-
Beeeeeeutiful! This thing is such an improvement over the 1/48 VF-1, and the VF-1 is my favorite toy. I just hope the heatshield mechanism is done a bit differently because that was the first thing to break on my VF-1 and I wasn't even manhandling it.

My god...those TF/SW things are an embarassment. I guess the Jedi Starfighter one looks OK, but the rest are just laughable. Alt Prime is by far the least striking Alt so far. I hate street trucks, I hate his bot mode and I hate the fact that he apparently has seats hanging off his arms. The head looks nice though... And I suppose there is still a chance he is horribly mis-transformed, but I can't see many other alternatives to that design other than the waist being reversed. Goddamn, I have to take a shower after looking at those SW Transformers, they make me feel all dirty.

Finally! Now let's hope they include a little Motoko to slip into that thing.
-
They made an unofficial trailer a while back (Review with pictures), but it was pretty expensive. 329785[/snapback] That's for the big Masterpiece Prime though, this is the little Robotmasters guy. They do share a striking resemblance though.
-
That looks great! Very clever on the folding headlight flaps. Did you build the trailer from scratch? I've been trying to find a trailer for RM Prime but he's such an odd scale that there doesn't seem to be any existing toys that match up. I've always wondered if they planned on making a trailer for him, too, since he's got that mysterious hole there... ::EDIT:: I just noticed the new tires, that looks really fantastic! Good work!

I still have the Captain Power action figure. I loved the idea as a kid, but was never able to get the ship to shoot at the TV with. Looking at the figure now it's a real piece of crap.

Bout damn time we get a Yoda Kubrick. I've been waiting for this one since the SW Kubrick line started. Will be my first and probably last SW Kubrick (unless someday I can afford the Max Rebo Band set...)

I'm a card-carrying member. Macross, Miyazaki (well, Ghibli generally), Lupin III, Evangelion, Love Hina, Cowboy Bebop, GITS, Lain, and Samurai Champloo are about all that's ever done anything for me. I resent it when someone sees my toys or my handful of anime DVDs and says, "Oh, you're an anime fan, huh?" It's hard to explain to someone that liking a few anime series doesn't make one an "anime fan". A good analogy is that just because someone likes Johnny Cash or Hank Williams does not make them a "country music fan".

Indeed. Wow, that was pretty much DiNiro's last good film wasn't it?

Ghost in the Shell's Motoko action figure
eriku replied to aaajin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I wonder how easy it would be to put the old Motoko 12" figure's head on this body. I've got that figure (Was it Yamato that made it?) and aside from the head it's pretty aweful. Even if it does have nipples and 'lady parts'... -
Ghost in the Shell's Motoko action figure
eriku replied to aaajin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Body looks awesome, but the head is too 'real world' style, just like all the other CG figures. Instead of looking like Motoko it looks like a hot cosplay chick (not that there's anything wrong with that!). -
I remember the good old days when Luc Besson actually made good movies.

I just can't get myself to like Primus for some reason. I just doesn't look aesthetically pleasing to my eye at all. Soundwave on the other hand...now there's a good-looking new TF. I can't say his alt mode is as killer as a tape deck, but it'll do. And he looks so awesome in bot mode, especially with the opening chest and Hexicons. Yeah, I'm a sucker for nods to G1. Doesn't mean I don't like new designs though, that little Armorhide guy looks to be one of the best TFs to come down the pipe in a long time.

Now that is one beautiful bird! We have to wait until next MAY for this?

Thanks, I depend on other MWers to look around for me since I have limited 'surfing' time at work (i.e. when nobody is looking...)
