Toybox DX's Toy of the Year Contest
eriku replied to dr_vandermeer's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hmmmmmmmm. I forsee the VF-0S taking the cake in 2006. 357792 Yeah...IF it doesn't get delayed until Dec 27th 2006. -
I guess "hate" is a strong word since they have grown on me. I did hate them in the initial pics, but in person they're not that bad. And hey, Hot Rod and Rodimus had flames. I kind of wish it were possible to get the Alt and BT version of Skids and swap all the parts to make one that I really like. Clear windows, plain paintjob and G1 stickers from the BT...dark blue color and bot detailing from the Alt.

Yes and no...these WST dinos are courtesy of JustitToys (they made the non G1 style MPC Prime trailer) and are not licensed by Takara. The quality and detail looks to be even better than Takara's WST toys, though. Licensed or not, I can't wait for my WST dinos to get here! As for the Scion, it's by far my favorite Alternator so far. I hate the flames and the frosty windows, but I like the other details and the darker blue better than the BT version. For some reason it reminds me of Tetsujin 28.

I wish mine would get here from BBTS already. They sent me an email on Tuesday saying my order was being processed, but I still haven't been charged nor have I recieved a shipping notice... I don't like hearing the QC isn't the best, but there's no way it can be as bad as a Toynami release.

Heh, that was better than the actual movie. The Cher song was the perfect choice for the soundtrack.
-
Cool, first I've seen of DK. These things blow the original line away.
-
I might have to sneak it in under the fiance's radar, but I will be getting one.

Has anyone tossed in their vote for Scarecrow and Mrs. King?

I bought ALF. 350816 I don't believe you! Post screenshots! 350823 Scary no? crappy phone cam. 350838 So....did it come with an exclusive pog?
-
Tour of Duty immediately comes to mind. Replacing the classic rock with phoned-in studio music turned the DVD release into Tour of Doody. I can't even watch the DVDs with the new music.
-
I stopped even looking at the TV DVD sets the day I saw ALF staring back at me. I couldn't help but wonder if it came with an exclusive pog. The sad thing is I absolutely LOVED Alf back in the day. I even loved the cartoon. I guarantee you that before next year is over we'll see, alongside Blossom, "Brotherly Love - the Complete Series!"

Yeah, if the shoulders were articulated, the legs not joined, the knees bendable, the head rotatable, another set of wheels added to the legs, and the chest windows painted or clear plastic instead of stickers, I'd be all over that old Powermaster Prime. As it is...bleh.

Heh, suddenly I think a lot more people might take interest in this little Prime. I already love it, so knowing that it sprung from the Froating Head is the cherry on top.
-
That new Prime is fantastic! I love the fact that it's itty bitty yet packed with articulation, detail and features. Looks to be the best Prime toy so far!
-
And then get his hand/arm/head lopped off.
-
And if you're interested in merchandise, you can't do much better than the T-28 Soul of Chogokin figure from Bandai. There are some older figures that are nice, too, but nothing recent comes anywhere close to the SOC figure.
-
I don't know hoooow I will afford it Some folks will horde it, too... (lookin at you Godzilla!)
-
Hell, I thought it was going to be around $150 because of the size and extra stuff, so this really isn't a surprise. I'm not saying it isn't expensive, though. I really want to wait until after the first release to see if there are any problems, but I don't know if my patience can hold out. I want this puppy NOW.

When do we get a Pac Man live action movie? Or Donkey Kong? Or, hey, what about Pong! That settles it, I'm quitting my job and going to film school just so I can make Pong! The Movie

I have to admit that for the cleverness of the headlights on the arms, it does sort of sour the overall aesthetic. Still, that's a very, very minor nitpick and should in no way keep me from throwing all of my money at this toy.
-
While I'm slightly interested in these as an Eva fan, I find it hard to get excited for ANY new EVA Unit figures after the perfection of the SOC figures.
-
I'm still diggin' the Bin/Alts. Granted they don't come out as rapidly as I'd like and the repaints elicit little more than a half-interested yawn from me, but I still like the new sculpts. Well, Prime is a stinker so far, but I'm still going to wait an see on him. If the legs can be altered and the seats can easily be taken off the arms, I'm in. As for Bin/Alt Classics, I would LOVE a line like that. It wouldn't just have to be limited to the cars the original TFs were based on either. I'd love to see TFs based on cars all the way back to the Model T. For the most part classic cars have much more aesthetic appeal than current ones do. And a line of Bin/Alt jets, hell, even ONE jet, would be 2 kool for skool.

Meh, all Blaster has ever been to me is the cassette-bot who's not as cool as Soundwave.
-
I haven't seen him yet, but I haven't really been looking since I don't want him. A lot of people really want to get their hands on him though, so that may be why he's hard to find. I do know that a lot of the TF fans in my area have found him. I can't wait for all the people who are bitching about how much they hate the Prime Alternator to start bitching about not being able to find him. And, sadly, I'll probably be among that group.
