Wow, they're still packing those things into Easter baskets? That's at least 3 years now that those have been available. It's funny that these G1 knock-offs have more longevity than any of the current legitimate lines. Not that I'm surprised or anything.

I've never shared the Coke VS. Pepsi instinct that so many people seem to have with everything. I like South Park, Family Guy, Simpsons, American Dad, Futurama, and even King of the Hill all for different reasons. I don't need one to be better than another or anything. They all have their moments of greatness and their moments of not-so-greatness. I'm just glad there are shows like that around otherwise the only thing I would use my television for is DVDs and Nintendo.

For Those Of You Who Have Been Here For The Years.
eriku replied to VortexVFX's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I don't remember the exact date I joined, but it was right around the time the Yammie 1/60 series first came out. I was searching for some photos of the Yammies and came across this site. I've been here ever since. At that time I was pretty much only familiar with Robotech, and it was the dedication to the original series behind Robotech that really turned me on to this place. -
I don't think it would have went over that badly. Optimus Prime got killed in the Transformers movie and that did nothing to hurt the franchise (granted he came back later).
-
Yeah, apparently the demand for THS G1 Convoy has been insane and a lot of stores have had to cancel over half of their preorders. I ordered from BBTS in December, so i'm hoping I can still get one. Take a look at Ebay and you'll get an idea of the demand. In a matter of hours the price for him went from $50 to $180.

Well, if anything, the nosecone will be removable once. Seriously though, i would expect that it either folds down the back or tucks away in some other fasion. Even the original Starscream could have had a folding nosecone with just a little more tooling.

I guess I don't get the "Gundam Prime" thing, since the aim was to make him look like his animated self. Not sure how that equates to Gundam, but whatever. As for any "realistic" traits in mainline Transformers, aside from a few things in Car Robots (RID) and of course Binaltech, there really isn't any. A lot of things are obviously 'inspired' by real-world vehicles, but as David was saying they are very kiddified and 'softened' so to speak. Doesn't really mean they are better or worse for it, since it's all up to individual taste anyway. I like realistic designs very much, but if a TF comes along that has an interesting alt mode and a really cool bot mode, and non-sickening colors, I'll be into it weather it's realistic or not. But that's just me.

Aww...I was really hoping Roy was next.

Awesome. This is definately one to preorder. This guy is going to sell like hotcakes.
-
Maybe it's just the photo, but Lick's fleshtone doesn't match between his face and hands. Otherwise, it looks excellent.
-
Meh, Astrotrain is OK. I don't really like train or shuttle mode. Bot mode would be better if the nosecone flipped up at the shoulders rather than being on his arms. I'm still excited to see the rest of the line.
-
No kidding, I've gotten to the point where I get my credit card ready each time I log into MacrossWorld.

Of course it's all personal taste, and I'm not about to bash any music I don't like. I also hate Disney music and pretty much anything in most mainstream films. I guess I just prefer classical scores or almost any instrumental music in the movies I watch.
-
Heh, I swear I'm the only TF fan that can't stand the music on TF: The Movie.
-
Awersome, I can't wait for BBTS to ship mine! The Froating Head is a nice packaging bonus.
-
Call me gunshy, but I've seen too many fake news items too get very excited about this Starscream yet. That one "censored" photo is hardly proof that this is real. I'l be the first to preorder this dream-come-true toy if it's real, but for now....it looks like something someone hacked out on Photoshop.

If Yamato signs a deal with HG that allows us to get their stuff in the states, how will we know who to hate? If Harmony Gold causes cancer and ate the Lindbergh Baby, then wont Yamato be guilty by association? Please Yamato, DON'T EAT THE LINDBERGH BABY!! I'm so disillusioned... Seriously though, I'd love to see Yamato toys more easily available here in the states. Hell, I'd love to walk into TRU and have my pick of 1/48 toys like they do in Japan, but TRU will probably vanish before that ever happens. Yamato would then have to make a My First Valkyrie toy to be sold through the remaining Babies R' Us stores.

The designs are cool, but come on, if the Insecticons turn into a train and not bugs, how are they INSECTicons? Overall though I think these guys look more interesting than most of the mainline transformers since, oh, G1.

Looks like a porno without the nudity and sex. Hence: pointless.

The heat-shield on my 1/48 Roy broke off while I was transforming it last year. I thought it was because of my meaty fingers, but then I realised it was the Harmony Gold nanomachines that had eaten through the the plastic on the left peg. To save the rest of the toy I went in the bathroom, turned off the lights, faced the mirror and said "ROBOTECH!" backwards three times. The hazy image of Carl Macek that appeared in the mirror was terrifying, but he offered me one wish. I wished for world peace, but obviously it didn't work. YOU SUCK HARMONY GOLD!!
-
I heard Harmony Gold Robotech DVDs actually install hundreds of nanomachines into your player that slowly eat away the internal computer, thus rendering your player useless. Several investigations have been made by the FCC but they haven't been able to turn up any proof because Harmony Gold developed the nanomachines with Protoculture, which is as yet undetectable by Western science.

Sweet LIPS, not sweet TITS. Unless by lips you were thinking...oh.... Is the subnic "Sweet Tits" taken by anyone yet? I've met him. He is... and he does! 374581 374635

The Megazone 23 Garland By Yamato Thread
eriku replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Now that looks fantastic! Doesn't look like he's "super-articulated", but it does look he has the joints where it counts. He's coming WITH the Garland, correct? Dammit, all these 'must-buy' $100+ toys are going to be the death of me this year. I'm gonna have to get a night job as a coffee-jerk to pay for half of them.- 1056 replies

Keeps looking better, but I'll have to echo the concern about the swing-bar. With the 1/48 when I have it all splayed out in mid-transformation, it always seems so fragile with both heavy halves of the toy being held together by that one thin bar. If it's any thinner on the VF-0 that effect will be even more dramatic. I trust Yamato enough to not assume they'd take a step backwards with the swing-bar, but I'm stil wary.
