1. Although it sucks that the tiny connector piece for the stand is a problem, I'm VERY happy that the only QC issue (at least that I've heard) is with that and not on the actual toy. I'm sure I can improvise something for the stand, and no, sanding down the ball would not work, it would actually make things worse.
2. Heh, I heard a tiny crash in the other room shortly after my post. What I found was the 1/100 had fallen off the stand. The valk was fine (nothing even fell off, not even a missle) but when I went to plug it back into the stand connector, I noticed the little rubbery adaptor that the ball joint plugs into is actually cracked, just like what was reported a few pages back. My bad for not checking it before using it to hold up the valk. I'll have to try gluing it, otherwise without that adaptor piece the stand is pretty much worthless. Anyone know of any modeling pieces or somehting that could be used as a substitute?
3. Got my 1S Roy today and for what it is I love it! The articulation is fantastic, the joints are tight, the paint apps are all very clean and done with more quality than I've seen on any other Toynami toy. Nothing about the proportions really bother me, not even the head. I'm actually surprised people rag on the head so much since it's far more accurate than the Chunky Monkey head (which, don't get me wrong, I adore). Fighter mode looks great to me, even though it's not big enough to have everything fit as perfectly flush as, say, the 1/48s. It holds together well and the legs & arms all peg together for a nice tight fit. The backpack is froppy, but it's not like this is the first valk with that ailment. I can live with it. As for the overall feel of the quality, it seems like the same kind of plastic that Yamato uses on the 1/48s. It's certainly better than the plastic used for the MPCs. Is it lightweight? Well of course! It's a very small toy, how could it NOT be light? Is that why it feels "cheap" to some of you, because of its light weight? It would have to be made of diecast to have any more heft. It reminds me of the Worlds Smallest Transformers toys when people complained that they just felt light and cheap...well yeah, they're the size of a freakin piece of Bubblicious. The stickers do kind of suck, but some of them are fine. The kites and wing numbers look great to me. The skulls are too big to fit on the tailfins and even when trimmed just look tacky. I also notice the box shows the red intake decals but there is no such sticker, nor is it painted on. The missles are all great and don't feel like they're going to fall apart in my hands, the gunpod holds together fine for me, and the disassembly for it to fit in fighter mode I actually like because it fastens FAR stronger than the traditional way. The stand is very cool, and the different attachments work really well. I would have liked to see "Macross" or the kite logo on that big black surface of the base, but I can slp a sticker on there if I really want to. Overall I think this thing is a lot of fun and leagues beyond the floppy mess of the Banpresto, which I can't imagine myself ever picking up again. The price is right, the accessories are plentiful, and it's packed with fun. I know this will get a lot more play than my 1/48, and that alone makes this thing worth every penny to me. I typically cast a very cynical eye on Toynami since they've only pleased me once before (Alpha Morphers) and have shat in my face with everything else. This thing is a step in the right direction for them, and is the closest thing to a complete winner that they've offered so far. I can't wait for the fast packs and the non VF-1 mecha!
4. Hasbro announced earlier this year there would be a line of plane Alts. They have said nothing more since then.
5. Well, I've got a Roy 1S on the way, hopefully by the end of the week I can post some pics and comments.
6. LOL, well I'm glad everyone is so concerned for my credit rating. Don't worry, I've done plenty of research. Ford Credit allows 2 deferrals per year with no negative effects other than the fact that you're paying on the loan longer than originally planned. I figure I'll be making car payments my entire life anyway, so no biggie.
7. is this an impending fiasco? A debacle even? haha... i don't care if it has weak hip joints, I'm just in it for the tapes. I loved them little transforming tapes. 421296 I'm wondering if the tapes (or tape, only one has been seen) will be diecast as well, or if they'll be plastic. Hopefully plastic so their teensy little joints can actually function.
8. Not that I'm doubting you (it's Toynami, I know what they are capable [or incapable] of) but can you elaborate on why these are so crappy? Do they have loose joints, bad parts fit, sloppy paint, etc..? I'm excited for these because of the size, but I'm worried because it's Toynami. So far the only Toynami product that has please me has been the Alpha Morphers and their Lain figures (although those were weak in ways).
9. Jetfire and Thundercracker are part of (or the entirety) of wave 2, which is not out yet. I would guess it'll be a month or more before those two start hitting. In all honesty, I'd love it if they halted the production and did a couple more months of tweaking to make them better before release. If they could lessen the amount of die-cast (hollow limbs instead of solid perhaps) and use stronger joints, that would fix most of the issues. The way it is I can't see Jetfire and TC being any less floppy than Prime and Megs. And that upcoming Soundwave....oof. If those giant blocky legs are solid diecast, there is no way that hip connection (just like the one Megs uses) is going to hold together. Please, Hasbro, give these things the extra attention they deserve!
10. I deferred my car loan payment for one month to afford the VF-0...
11. I'd love to see the 19 in those Supernova colors.
12. Just think of it as the "pilot".
13. Target. They're hitting in good numbers at Targets in Minnesota right now, I've seen them at a few already. People in this state are also finding them at Toys R. Us, although I think they are $19.99 there as opposed to $14.99 at Target.
14. Picked up the 6" Titanium Prime and Megatron figures tonight. Prime is very cool. He is a little floppy because of all the diecast, but overall his joints are tight enough to hold poses well. The only thing that really bugs me is the hands don't lock into place, so they kind of just slide in and out of the arms freely. He holds together pretty well as a truck (or whatever it is) and the gun slides into a port for storage. I love the design of this Prime. Megatron is something I would caution anyone on. Unless you really think he looks cool, don't bother. This is hands down the most frustrating and worthless TF I've ever laid hands on. For starters, just taking him out of the package resulted in a pile of pieces. All four limbs came off. They snap back on, but just barely stay there. Every single joint is so loose it's worthless. But the worst part is the mechanism that folds down and connects to form his crotch. The pegs that hold it together, or that are SUPPOSED to hold it together, are too small and short to be of any use. You can snap it together, but as soon as you pick the thing up they fall apart. I suspected this area might be bad because out of the 5 Megatrons at Target, all of them had this piece separated in the package. The only upshot on Megs is that he really does look cool in person. I wasn't planning to get him but he was attractive enough on the shelf to make me grab him. The tank holds together well, but it does look a little crap from the side because of an enormous gap between the turret and the rest of the tank. It's amazing how heavy these things are. Diecast is great and makes for a satisfying heft, but the amount Hasbro used for these is actually excessive, and hurts the playability of the toys. With this much diecast and every single connection spot and joint a tiny, thin piece of plastic, I expect much breakage in this line. Wonderful idea, but very poor execution.
15. Just found Alt Prime today. Not sure what to think. He looks cool, and the kibble doesn't bother me as bad as I thought it would, but he's pretty much a floppy mess. The chest doesn't lock down, the shoulders/arms don't lock into place, and the knees are so loose that he cannot stand unless the panels that cover the knees in back are folded up, which basically renders him kneeless...*sigh* Weren't people complaining before about how TIGHT the knees were?
16. The color scheme in the current photos do look better than the previous ones, but I still don't 'love' the colors. I'm keeping an open mind though.
17. After looking at the pics of both versions of SS again, I guess I don't like the way either of them transforms. The tailfins should be removable...
18. Looks like I'm waiting for a repaint of SS. I just don't like that greenish-grey, realistic or not. He'd look cool in a black and grey "stealth" deco...
19. So are they digging up Vanilla Ice for this movie?
20. I'm not getting too worried until I see a final painted product, but I really do think that photo we've seen looks terrible. Like eugiom said earlier, it's not because it doesn't match the cartoon so much as the fact that it's 17 different shades of nasty. If it were all low viz, fine, but the colored bits make it look like a pile of yuck. If the final painted version looks like that photo, I will simply cancell my preorder and wait for a paint scheme that's appealing. As for MP Primes trailer, it looks very nice so far. Almost like a larger scale version of the Hybrid trailer. I hope it's released by itself at some point otherwise I probably wont be getting it.
21. Titanium Jetfire IS WWI Jetfire. Classics Jetfire however, is supposedly based on the design Don made for the later G1 comics before DW fell, and the stormbringer comic, which just came out today. BTW go to tformers.com! New toy pics from SDCC preview night! New 6" transformable titaniums Optimal Optimus RID Super Optimus Prime WWI Starscream(said to be a thundercracker repaint) G1 Soundwave W/TRANSFORMABLE tapes!(Guys I hear the one in the photo is mistransformed!) G1 Rodimus Prime(trailer is not removed) G1 Scourge Looks like the 6" line is slowly becoming a war within line! 417569 Rodimus and Scourge look fan-FREAKIN-tastic! WOW! RID Prime is cool, but I'm not a huge fan of that Prime design. Same goes for Optimal Optimus. That version of Prime just looks awkward and wrong. Soundwave is...well...I really hope to god he's mistransformed, otherwise he can only be called "Daiper Soundwave". I'm sure he'll be as fantastic as Roddy and Scourge though.
22. I read that about Jetfire, too. I'm actually surprised no pics of him have surfaced yet. Sounds like he even has "fast pack" add-ons. Also, Amazon now has a listing for a 6" Titanium Soundwave. My fingers are crossed that it's G1 Soundwave.
23. You can actually find out for yourself at Target. Go to one of those price scanner terminals that are all over the store and punch in this number: 087-06-0849 That's the product DPCI code for Alternators. If there are any more cases in back, it'll say so. If there aren't, you'll be seeing the same "NONE" that I've been seeing for, oh, three weeks now. And as for the Classics line, I thought that had been bumped up to August or Sept for a release? Packaged samples are popping up on Ebay, too.
24. See, it isn't difficult to come up with a polite answer instead of acting like a smartass like you did before. You could have given this response in your previous message and yet you didn't. Why? 417134 Thanks for the personal critique. I'll make sure to add that to my resume.
25. I'm here to discuss toys, not argue about morality, politics, ethics or perversity, that was my point. I'm sure most people here would agree. Back on topic, Camshaft (Prowl repaint) has been spotted at retail. I think that means there are thre different case assortments with Prime in them now, and I still can't find one.
