Nice! Although it's weird they shadow out Vanilla because he's already been shown...

I feel very lucky that my soon-to-be wife not only tolerates my toys, but also adds to them with her own. Thank god for Dunnys.

One of my friends will take to his grave his insistance that his friend had a G1 Headmaster Arcee toy when they were kids. As for the Battle Beasts, I got this shark playset thing with a white lion figure as a gift but I must not have liked it that much because I never asked for any additional figures. They actually seem more cool to me now than they did then.

Wow, that's sooner than I thought! I need to find a website that I can order it from. I know HLJ has it but I try to avoid ordering through them.

I'm not liking the new logos that much at all. Not because they're 'different', but from a graphic design aspect they are just too busy. And SEELE's is just silly and obvious. Of course the American Medical Association logo has a snake wrapped around it as well....

How is the gameplay on Paper Mario? Does it utilize the Wiimote quite a bit? I just started playing the Cube version (yes, I'm very behind) and it's a blast.

That's a great idea. I'm curious to see how much memory he'll have. 1GB isn't a lot these days, but he better at LEAST have that for the price. You can buy 1GB flash drives dirt cheap so I would imagine built-in memory wouldn't have that much of a cost difference.

I plan to actually use Soundwave. Clunky? Am I the only one that remembers tooting around with walkmans and discmans? Hell, the original iPod was probably bigger than what Soundwave will be. Now give us a working Blaster that plays cassette tapes and can be carried on the shoulder!

Thanks for posting that, I've been anxiously awaiting that Vanilla RSC set. I think I'll be picking up the 1/48 Burglarydog as well.

It bumped Family Guy on Sunday night, that's enough to turn me off from the show.

Regarding the AFA graded stuff, I got the impression that Hasbro's main initiative for the survey was to see if they should get into "graded" toys, weather it's AFA graded or their own grading system. I sincerely hope they do not because "gradings" and "collectability" are two things that suck the life out of this hobby.

My suggestion to Hasbro on the survey was that they expand the Classics line.

Good, I like the colors on the other version better, so this means I can still get that version.

Trailer for Rodriguez and Tarantino's Grindhouse
eriku replied to chowyunskinny's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Went last night and overall I enjoyed them both. I liked Planet Terror quite a bit more than Death Proof. I expect Tarantino's films to be heavy on the dialogue, but the inane crap the girls were going on and on about in Death Proof was truly aweful, and the zoomed-in shots of the chick fiddling with her text messages just drove me insane. I guess they were too true-to-life for me to handle. After a few minutes of the first set of girls I was so hoping that they'd all get waxed (and they did!). The second set of girls weren't quite as annoying, but honestly I was hoping to see Stuntman Mike finish them all off, too. I think my favorite part of the whole double-feature was the "missing reel" cut in Planet Terror that made the film go from love scene to the entire BBQ joint in massive flames with no hint of what happened in between. For some reason I found that hilarious. Oh, and the fake trailer with Nick Cage as Fu Manchu really got a cackle out of me. Very unexpected. -
Just last night I was looking for some sort of "Votoms World" site or forum. I can't believe that there really aren't any. If I had the time & the resources I would start on right now.

I just finished the series an hour ago and my only word of advice to you is to stick with it through the end. LOVED the series. I think I may even like it more than Macross. ***SPOILER*** The end part where Chirico is shutting down Wiseman is SO 2001 Space Odyssey. I was ready for Wiseman to start singing "Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do" I didn't mind the similarity though as I enjoyed Votoms far more than 2001. ***END SPOILER***

I voted for Amidala just to upset the prequel haters. Had Jar Jar been a choice I would have voted for him without a second thought.

Found this image on the infraweb, looks like I did get gipped. I'm not surprised, the box was very obviously re-taped. Oh well, it was only $3. [attachmentid=41770]

Yutaka's "Super Real & Full Action Doll" Chirico is a strange bird. I paid 4 bucks for him, and I'm not sure he's worth much more than that. The head sculpt is nice and has a sort of 'vintage' look to it. The body, presumably (according to the illustration on the box) is heavily articulated with some clever joints. Naturally almost all of these joints are completely rendered useless by the peculiar rubber body glove that he's wearing. There is no way to take the suit off (without cutting it of course) so we are left with a minimally articulated figure. What you see in the window of the box is all I thought the figure came with. I thought he looked rather plain without his gear, but still worthy of a few bucks. Upon opening the package I discovered that this guy is half figure, half model kit. His straps and belts are separate rubber pieces that have no way of attaching to the body without glue. I used a big strip of tape to secure everything on his backside. His shoulder pads are just sort of there, and would also require glue, although there's nothing to glue them to aside from the bare rubber suit, which seems like a bad idea. His helmet, gun and other pieces are included on sprues and need to be assembled and painted. There is also a length of thin rubber hose that the ambitious modeler can cut into pieces to be glued to Chirico's arms. It's an interesting piece and the instructions are probably helpful in getting Chirico finished, but they're in Japanese (naturally) so I can't be sure. Overall I'm glad to have it for the novelty and just how weird it really is. It doesn't look completely horrible by any means, but it isn't that fun to play with since it doesn't move much and the rubber suit just feels sticky and unpleasant. Oh, and I was going to put him inside the Yamato Scopedog since they are both 1/12 scale, but as you can see in the pic this Chirico is MUCH larger than Yamato's, so the only way he's getting in that dog is if I cut him out of his suit. And since Chirico likes to fight 'naked', that just may happen...

The Kubrick set is cool, and there isn't much to say about it since it's a fairly standard Kubrick set. It comes with the Brutishdog and Fyana in her pilot gear. The Brutishdog comes with a seperate set of legs for it's down mode, which I thought was a nice touch. Also, the hatch comes off and there is a little picture of Fyana's torso in there. Presumably you plug the Fyana head onto the Dog to complete the look. Fyana looks as much like the character as the Kubrick style will allow. I was expecting an extra pilot head or helmet for her since the box shows an illustration of her wearing one, but no dice. I may track down the Scopedog/Chirico set someday if I can find it for a reasonable price. This one I got for 3 bucks, so that's pretty impossible to beat.

Picked up a couple of neat items at the local comic book shop today. They're actually things that have been sitting there for almost 4 years now, but until last year I wasn't familiar with what they even were and until today I never bought them because they seemed too expensive for what they were. Well, today the store had a 75% off table with a bunch of stuff heaped on it, and what should I find but the Fyana Kubrick set and the strange, funky Chirico 1/12 Super Real Full Action figure by Yutaka. Pics and comments to follow...

Had I been wise enough to look at the instruction book I wouldn't have had to ask. Having played with this thing for a couple hours now I do want to say that it feels very durable and it is a lot of fun. I definitely don't regret buying it and I can't wait for Fyana to come out so I can pose it with her cradled in the arm.

I know, I was stuck though. I only wanted to pay around $100 and I like the standard Scopedog more than the other variants. I know there were some improvements to the versions following the first Scopedog, but do they have any remaining problems holding up under their weight? That really is my only major gripe. Aside from that it's a great toy - even if I do prefer Takara's. I very much like having both. Also, what are the two extra rifle packs for? There doesn't seem to be anywhere to put them on the 'Dog so they seem rather superfluous.

Just got the Yamato 1/12 Scopedog in the mail today. It's big, that's for sure, but I guess for some reason I was expecting it to completely dwarf the Takara. I suppose 1/12 and 1/18 isn't that much of a difference though. I have mixed feelings about the 1/12 dog. It definitely looks cool and has a good range of articulation, but it just feels so floppy. I know some of you have said the later releases put ratchets in the ankles, but I feel like it needs a lot more than that. The thighs and knees are ratcheted but they don't help a whole lot. In almost every pose I try to put this thing in it just sort of collapses under it's own weight. And there is just no conceivable way this guy is going to be able to hold the fully assembled rifle - it's too heavy, and the thumbs fall off just like Takara's. The removable armor pieces are cool, but some of them are far too loose. The bicep pieces on mine don't want to stay together very tightly and the panel on the back right above the waist will fall off at the slightest touch. These things are very cosmetic though as far as I'm concerned, and can easily be fixed with home remedies so they don't really detract from the toy. I think if I had gotten this Yamato dog first rather than the Takara, I'd like it a lot better. As it is, it pales in comparison to the Takara in almost every aspect. The one thing I like better about Yamato's release is the Chirico figure, which is simply excellent. I know it sounds like a bad review, but the Yamato really is a nice toy aside from it's inability to stand. There are lots of little differences between the two that kind of cancel each other out when making comparisons. Like for example the visor on the Takara doesn't stay up, but the hatch does. On the Yamato, the visor stays up but the hatch does not. Both are annoying problems. It is impressive to hold though, and the detail inside the hatch is superb. The foot pedals are a nice touch. I'll probably end up leaving the Yamato in down-mode and use the Takara for posing and playing with.
