I'm not a religious man, but sir, I give you an amen! Actually, whoever did that Prime's Rude Awakening clip on YouTube, I'd like to see that person/group re-do the entire G1 series in the style of Space Ghost/SeaLab/Harvey Birdman. THAT would be fantastic.

Let me guess, at the end of the movie it all turns out to have just been a terrible dream which leads the Witwickey kid to form his own band of "Autobots" that go around town fighting crime dressed in Transformers Underoos, all of which segues perfectly into the stylized cartoon Transformers Heros?

Or at least those who have cable. If this were played Sunday night on Fox I might take a look, but as it is I'm not going to go out of my way to see it. For all I know it could be better than all of the past TF series, but I'm have no reason to anticipate anything great. Beast Wars did have a somewhat compelling way of telling it's stories, but I could never get over my dislike for the animation style of the show. Car Robots/RID was OK, but got boring really fast for me. Armada and Galaxy Force I thought were pretty terrible with both animation style and writing. And good old G1...the toys made the show pure and simple. I loved it as a kid because I got to see my favorite toys duke it out. As an adult I find it humorous at best, but I can't really stomach it. I'm sure in twenty years kids will be saying the same thing about Armada/Galaxy Force/Underoobots The G1 Movie is probably the most watchable for me, although the music is about as far from my tastes as one can get. Even though I hate Michael Bay and dislike many of the bot designs I'm expecting the new movie to be more watchable than any of the cartoon series.

Jesus, they actually put one of them (Bumblebee) in the popular and over-used hand-planted-legs-up Spiderman pose... It's obvious they're trying very hard to appeal to the Superhero aesthetic here and not the traditional 'giant transforming robots' aesthetic. I just get the impression that it's going to be another generic superhero cartoon that they could plunk ANY character likeness into and it would be the same show. Again though, I'm into the Transformers pretty much strictly for the toys so ultimately I don't care what the cartoon is like.

Yeah, well, you just come back and tell us what you think after you start noticing the black helicoptors with a stylized "Y" on the side. Graham's not known as the "Hand of Yamato" for nothing you know, and he's on to you, man, he's on to ALL of us!!!

This question has probably been asked a thousand times before, so forgive my ignorance, but do any other Yamato toy lines aside from Macross have as many QC problems, or is Macross sort of their red-headed step-child? I've heard the Garland has some problems, but that's more of a one-off toy and not an entire line. I have a Yamato Scopedog which is problem-free (aside from some loose joints which were fixed on later versions) and I haven't heard of any serious QC problems in that line. Or is it just the nature of the transforming VF toys that there are so many moving parts and so many delicate parts that it's almost impossible for them to avoid problems in the factory? Then again, as others have stated, the 1/48 line has been polished to a lovely sheen. My guess is that it's a voodoo curse brought about by the Zero series dealing with all that messed-up juju out on the island.

Oohh, judging by the latest press release posted on TFW2005.com the show just gets better! "the new series, Transformers Animated, will be significantly different from the others, adding humor, never-before-seen characters and a new premise in which the Autobots fight evil humans in superhero fashion much more frequently than they battle the Decepticons, the traditional Transformers enemy since the franchise launched as a toy line in 1984." So what we have basically is an all new show that has nothing to do with Transformers other than the fact that some of the characters just happen to have some resemblance to older characters. At least that's my interpretation of it. Not that I care much, as I've said before I've never liked a TF cartoon series in my adult years.

The "Moment" an Anime Series Finally Hooked You In
eriku replied to Mog's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm a lazy anime watcher. If a series doesn't hook me with the very first episode I probably wont give it a chance. Macross, Eva, Bebop, Votoms Lupin, GIT:SAC, Champloo, Love Hina....they all hooked me from the get-go. The only one of those that didn't hold up to the first episode was Champloo, which got fairly uninteresting towards the end, unfortunately. -
Ahmed Best is my hero. He helped create the single most annoying character in the entire Star Wars universe that fills every fan boy with deep, seething hatred. How can you not respect that?
-
Yeah, I know, I'm the only one who seems to want an action figure of the main character of Evangelion. I also forgot to mention that I'd LOVE a detailed and nicely articulated Misato figure, too. How about a set of Misato with her car, and Shinji can be an accessory. That way all of you who dont want him can leave him in the box or throw him away.
-
I like this color scheme better than the bizzarro teal monstrosity of the MP version, but I honestly think the giant dirty streaks will keep me from getting it if they are present on the final version. It doesn't look 'real' or 'detailed' or 'dirty' or 'weathered', it just looks like a mistake. Maybe he flew to close to Astrotrain and got some coal smears, I don't know. Some day I'm sure there will be a good paint scheme for this toy.

I thought most of it was really funny. The Ponda Baba episode was so good that I actually like his boring @ss better now!
-
That would be cool. I've got several Rei/Asuka figures but none of them have quite nailed it yet. It's either killer sculpt and lacking articulation or killer articulation and lacking sculpt. I trust Revoltech to remedy that. And dammit, I WANT A SHINJI!

I think it's supposed to be hip right now to not come up with any new ideas and just regurgitate other people's ideas in a desperate attempt to cash in. Although the same can be said for the movie industry, the music industry and pretty much every other facet of American life.

So....giant sentient alien robots from space that morph into vehicles are now considered "everyday heros"? O.....k..... The Policeman! The Fireman! The Soldier! The Giant Robot that Turns Into a Truck! The Good Samaritan! The Doctor! Sure....I can see how that works.

Got a Revy today. Love, love, love this line. Almost any Anime/Sci Fi character aside from Totoro would benefit from being a part of this line. Hell, give me Totoro, too! I could spell out a laundry list of who I'd love to see, but towards the top would be Spike from Cowboy Bebop, Mugen from Champloo and Lupin III.

I wont panic until I see the toys. My theory from the TF thread is that they'll be like the Pretenders toys, only instead of a humanoid shell with a bot inside, it's a vehicle shell with a humanoid figure inside. Actually I should stop putting that idea out there or Hasbro might see it and use it...
-
Solution: They're going to revisit the Pretenders, only instead of a humanoid shell with a bot inside, it'll be a realistic vehicle shell that splits in half to reveal a humanoid figure inside!

I'm definitely using Leader Brawl (or apparently Devastator is his name in the movie) as the leader of my movie Decepticons. Movie Megatron looks like a total pile of rubbish to me.

I think it's purely psychological damage.

I don't think he is 1/48. I just meant him and the 1/48 'Dog are of a similar size so they look good fighting each other. 'Scale' was probably the wrong word. If I had to guess I would say Hybrid Prime is closer to 1/100.

Hmm, you'll have to do some hunting probably. I ordered from HLJ a few weeks ago and they were out of stock a day or two later. They may have more in now. Otherwise I've seen them at Twin Moons and I think even BigBadToyStore but I may be remembering wrong. Back before I ordered from HLJ I just Googled "Custama Rei" and found several stores selling them. HLJ was the cheapest place at $40+ but the other sites have them much higher than that.

They're a little glossy, but not really any more shiny than any other painted die-cast toys. They're just catching the flash really well in those crappy pics. To tell you the truth I didn't even notice their gloss until I looked at these pics.

Got my Rei Custama figure and it's a lot bigger than I was expecting, so none of the Rei heads I have are really transferable. In person it looks a lot better though so I'm pretty happy with it. There is one problem that I need to fix with nail polish or glue or something, her legs keep falling off at the thighs. Or maybe it's supposed to be that way for cartoon accuracy! At least they aren't broken. The pegs that hold the joint in place just don't stick tight enough. Here she is with some friends...

Burglarydog is sort of in scale with Hybrid Prime...
