Stole this pic from ToysDaily. Looks like Fyana is coming soon, and will come with an open helmet and extra head for Chirico. Rock! ::EDIT:: excuse the dual images, I'm a dolt and don't know how to remove one of them.

*sets down old thread diggin' shovel* I finally picked up a DS after wanting one for so long. Am currently burning through New Super Mario Bros. which I like quite a bit, even though it seems a little too easy. After that I'm going to spend some time with Minish Cap, which I actually bought the GameBoy player for so I can play it on the Cube. Are there any new games (i.e. what hasn't been listed in the thread already) that are must-plays? I haven't heard much about Super Princess Peach, has anyone played that? I'm anticipating Zelda although I have no idea what to expect with it being entirely stylus-controlled.

vote for jetfire in the new transformers movie
eriku replied to xsjado's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I thought I read several months ago that one of the ideas they were tossing around for the next movie was to combine the Constructicons and Dinobots, making the Dinobot characters big construction vehicles since dinosaurs would look too silly for live-action. Anyone else remember that or did I 'hear' it in my own mind during some mad, virus-induced fever-dream? -
vote for jetfire in the new transformers movie
eriku replied to xsjado's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I voted Soundwave. To me Jetfire's only appeal is that his toy was based on a Macross toy. -
I loathe Hasbro's 'battle damage' paint applications. They always look more like factory mistakes.

yeah, I'd be all over that Bandai kit if I had any painting skills. Looks like a really fun kit.

Futuristic Lupin the 3rd pilot!
eriku replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I always sort of saw Cowboy Bebop as "Lupin in Space". I cant wait to get home to check out this future Lupin link. The Lupin III property is in serious need of a great new series. Not that the bajillion episodes from the 80's aren't enough, but I'm always game for more Lupin. There's new Lupin & Fujiko figure sets coming out in the Microman line this year so maybe something new is on the way. -
My CreativeLabs MUVO MP3 player uses one AAA battery and if I put an Energizer Lithium in there it lasts forever (not literally, but it seems like it), and that's powering a backlit LCD screen as well as the music hardware. I bet a lithium AAA in Soundwave will last even longer since he seems pretty bare-bones.

Based on the above review ML Soundwave still sounds good enough for what I want/need. I was only planning on using the MP3 function at work, so 1GB worth of 128kbs music will be just fine. I'm a little disappointed that it doesn't have a readout, but I know what I'm listening to 99.9% of the time anyway, so it's no big deal. The real reason I'm getting him though is the killer sculpt, and nothing in the review indicates I'll be disappointed with him as a toy. I do really hope a 'gutted' version is released in the US at a lower price so other people can get their hands on this guy.

The following is a review of ML Soundwave done by BraveMax of the TFW2005 forums. Well - I got a reader and put (of course) "You've got the touch" on the card along with some other Transformers-themed music as theme music for a quick review. No pictures yet... Maybe I'll take some later and start a thread. I figured you guys'd rather have info, though. If you want pics of anything, LMK. I've put MP3 functionality in with Alt mode, even though it works in both modes. Overall: This isn't even going to replace anyone's iPod Shuffle... Practically non-existent interface, no options, minimal storage and battery life... I hate to say it, but only Transformers fans could be roped into buying this guy. Box includes: -Soundwave -"Electric Launcher" - Shoulder weapon -"Wave Bluster" - Rifle -Headphones (Ear-Bud style) -4 extra fists (Right and Left Rifle-Grips, and Right and Left "touch-my-own-eject-button"s) -Tech Spec Card Specifications: -Can only play MP3 files -Can only use MiniSD Cards up to 1 GB -Audio Range: 60Hz ~ 16Hz -Bitrate: MP3: 128 kbps -Output: 2mW -Battery: Says something about a type 4 Alkali Battery, but the slot fits AAA Batteries. -Assuming the use of the above-mentioned Alkali Battery, the player will supposedly play for 6 hours. Alt Mode/MP3-Player Features: If I'm recalling Titanium Soundwave's size correctly, ML Soundy is maybe a little thicker. The transformation is essentially the same, right down to how his fists store. The major differences are the following: A) ML's alt mode feels and looks more solid - like an MP3 player that resembles Soundwave's alt mode rather than a mishmosh of parts that resemble an MP3 player. B) No place to store the extra fists or the weapons. C) 5 buttons on the front instead of three. D) ML Soundy is also, of course, lighter. The headphone jack is located on his right shoulder, and it's the jack you use to plug in his Electric Launcher in Robot Mode. If you press the eject button the cassette door opens, revealing a MiniSD slot. Somebody goofed and left a bunch of green circuit board exposed, but otherwise it's tasteful and well-done. Standard "push once to lock, push again to eject" functionality on the SD card. After inserting an SD card, you press the "play/pause" button for "2 seconds" to turn the MP3 player on. Once it's on, a blue LED will start flashing in the upper left-hand corner of the tape deck door. This light flashes slowly while music is playing and a little faster when paused. It's actually a little distracting. Strangely, the tape deck door doesn't need to be closed for the player to work. Be careful not to blind yourself with the LED :-p That, unfortunately, is about it for the Alt. Mode. The MP3 Player can skip forward and back, but can't fast forward or rewind. You can adjust the volume up and down, and it can get decently loud. Sound output seems pretty good - but that depends on the headphones I imagine... Robot Mode Transformation: - Slide back panel on top of player and head spring-launches into place. It doesn't stay up as well as I'd like... -Fold fists out from the bottom, unlock the wrists from the back and swing them out to the side. -Slide shins out to side and rotate them back and down. Fold down toes and heels. -Slide shoulders up and forward into final place. -Attach shoulder cannon. And you're done. I just did that while listening to music with no problems :-p Robot mode: Articulated at the: -Shoulders (Forward, back, side to side) -Elbows (Rotational, forward and back until you hit straight position.) -Wrists (Rotational, in towards body) -Hips (Forward, back, side to side) -Knees (Back and forward to straight) -Toes/Heels (Each can fold up towards leg) -Head (Raised ball joint. All directions) Aside from some random "machiney" patterning, he's more or less bereft of detail. Still - doesn't look half back. Very simple and elegant. I just wish his head wasn't bobbly.... Fists suffer from Titanium Soundwave's problem - look like someone duct-taped a board onto the backs of their hands. Main body is a little think compared to the rest, but that's to be expected. Over-all, not THAT impressive. Should have been a big basic or a small deluxe. I guess the electronics cost a lot? The playing, BTW, seems to waffle between "repeat" (IE, once the end of the playlist is reached the whole thing repeats) and "once through".

Neener! Thanks again, emerson. I hope you're not having second thoughts, I guilt easily.

I don't expect the later waves of movie toys to be as abundant as the initial wave, so it's likely that certain ones will be harder to find. I'm sure with a little patience people will be able to find what they want. My enjoyment of the movie toys has been overshadowed by my anticipation of the MP3 Soundwave. He's looking to be my favorite TF of the year.

You've got PM.

I got one a few weeks ago. It's very, very small. Maybe the height of a Star Wars or Microman figure, if not shorter. There are lots of little moving parts which kind of surprised me with a toy this small. Quality-wise it's pretty good. When I was transforming it I didn't feel like anything was about to snap or break. It does feel fragile in the hand though, but that's because it's so small and light. Paint is top-notch on mine but I have heard some people complain of sloppyness. Transformation is a little complex because of the size and none of the parts really lock into place, but the joints are tight enough to keep it from being a floppy mess. Overall I like it but it's a hard sell for most people because of the price/size ratio. I'll try to post some pics later if I get a chance.

I'm rather disappointed that MP Starscream is a WalMart exclusive because I refuse to support that store. Unless it's offered elsewhere I will probably not get one.

Overall the movie was a hell of a lot of brainless fun, just what I needed three days before my wedding day. My fiancee loved it too, maybe even more than me. At one point she turns to me and says, "I'm sorry but this is f**cking AWEsome!" I may be the only one, but the scene with made me think the live-action Evangelion movie could actually work. In my minds eye I replaced with EVA-01 and it looked pretty damn cool. And I agree with what other people have said that now the movie toys are kind of disappointing after seeing the film. The reason is because they had to go into production before the movie designs were even finished, so maybe there will be some really nice toys next year. I'd LOVE to see a 12" super-articulated and detailed Frenzy that is done in the same style as the 12" Terminator Endoskeleton figures. I also really want the soda-machine bot for some reason.

It's possible Shockwave could end up in Classics. They have the mold, it's a popular character and it's G1 enough to fit in Classics. I've already got my fingers crossed.

Yeah, there is quite an enormous leap between casually bashing a cartoon online (what most of us do) and going out of your way to not only premeditate but actually carry out a physical attack. It's probably the same leap between sanity and bat-sh!t crazy. I hadn't heard about this incident until this thread. I didn't click on the links and I thought the 'threw a pie' reference in the previous post was a 'metaphorical' pie-in-the-face type thing and not an actual pie in the face (hilarious as that is on movies and TV). While I don't like the new Robotech cartoon, i would never endorse public humiliation over it.

Even though the film is already long, I wonder how much was cut and if there will be an 'extended edition' DVD with scenes put back in place. I'm sure they wouldn't put in scenes that would interfere with the continuity of #2, but I have a feeling there is a lot of other stuff.
-
I'm more open-minded about the toys, but it's hard for me to be open-minded about the show itself since to date I haven't liked any Transformers series (as an adult, I loved G1 as a kid). I'm not expecting much, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were better than all the previous series because that would take very little.

So Hasbro announced at Botcon that the 'gimmick' for the Transformer Hero Animated toys will be...hold on to your seats..TRANSFORMING! *gasp!* At least that shoots my 'Pretenders' theory to hell, which I am very happy about. The real news from Hasbro at BotCon though was that Classics is not only going to continue, but the second run will be longer than the first with more toys and characters like Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Jazz, Ironhide, Octane, Galvatron, Prowl and more. They may even bring back Cosmos, whos mold (pics were shown) was sent to the Titanium line - which was then cancelled. Oh, and they said almost every triple-changer will be revisited. So: Animated toys will transform Classics toys will continue and will kick much ass Titanium toys will be history after WW Prowl (which Hasbro said will be hard to find)

Toynami Announces Masterpiece Cyclones at Toyfair
eriku replied to chowyunskinny's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'm just glad it appears to have a removable helmet rather than swappable heads. I'm not expecting much on the QC, but there should be less small moving parts on this than a Valk or a Legioss, so I'll probably give it a chance and buy it like the dumb lemming I am. -
I don't know if that means HG is having trouble, but it's further evidence that New Robotech = Steaming Pile of Monkey Sh!t.
-
I pity Kup, or as he's now caleld, "Sh!t Piece".

But wouldn't kids pester their parents for the toys weather they're in the theaters with them or not? Another theory would be that the writers got a kick out of it or that it was simply meant to add to the 'cool factor' for the kids who watched it. I remember seeing it on a Friday (by myself at 9 years old, mind you) and going to school on Monday and chattering with all of my friends who saw it about how cool it was that they said sh!t and damm!t in the movie. Made it seem like more of a real movie and helped set it apart from the TV show, or like it was more of an 'adult' movie than a kids movie. I just remember liking the movie so much at 9 years old that it didn't even bother me that much that Prime and a large portion of the Autobots got blown away.
