Happy Birthday, David. I agree about the frosting, and real homemade cake is 100X better than a box mix.

Didn't you hear? Peter Jackson is going back and re-filming/re-editing the movies for a deluxe super-special edition. He said he had always envisioned something "Familiar, yet different" for the trilogy. Seriously though, I'm anticipating the "new" EVA as more of a curiosity than anything. It'll be fun/interesting to see whatever changes they make, but on a whole I seriously doubt myself or many EVA fans are going to set aside their years of love and infatuation for the original series in favor of this new experiment. It may look prettier, but it's going to be near impossible to capture the soul or essence of the first.

I'm just hoping scalpers don't drive me away from TF toys like they drove me away from Star Wars. Star Wars figures got to the point, and still are, where it's virtually impossible to be a casual collector. You can't see a figure you happen to like on the internet and go out and find it somewhere without a massive search effort. And even then you probably won't find it. Luckily there have only been a small handful of SW figures I've wanted over the past few years, but I've had to order them all online. Transformers up until the movie was the one major retail toy line that I could pretty much always find what I wanted without having to spend months searching, although there were a few exceptions, like the later Titanium 6" figures and some of the Hasbro reissues.

Reideen will be great to add to the collection. Glad to see the SOC line keeps churning out the love.

I'm glad to hear the multi-pack SS and SE are coming later on in that comic book pack. They're the two I want most from the multi-packs but I don't want to spend $25 each to get them. The other one I want is the Baroness. Are there plans to release her singly or in a comic pack?

A lot of people miss that step, myself included when I first got it. He looks so much better after they are correctly positioned. I can never decide if TCracker or Rodimus is my favorite Titanium.

Awesome, Revoltech Rei and Asuka! Now would they PLEASE make a goddamn SHINJI so I can shut the hell up about him already?

Yeah, those appear to be scorch marks. maybe it was the brightness of those photos that hid them or something. At this point I'll be happy with just LESS scorch marks, but even if they're the same I'll still be more satisfied with this Starscream than the blue/green version.

Not 100% confirmed, but this post at ACToys forum is believed to be the Japanese version because it has no scorch marks. http://www.actoys.net/bbs/read.php?tid=204337

I've got my Japan-release Starscream on preorder from LAFToys for $94. I don't care that it costs more than the WalMart special because this way I don't have to support WalMart, and I also think this version looks a lot better. And it's still far cheaper than a Yamato 1/48, which is roughly the same size toy, so there you go.

I think MP3 Soundwave is a pretty fantastic toy. The joints seem to be hit or miss because I've heard a few people say theirs are a bit loose but mine has very tight joints. It is overpriced, especially with the apparently lacking MP3 player (I have no opinion on it since I have yet to buy a mini SD card to try it), but my rationale was that I'm used to paying lots of cash for Japanese toys anyway, so it didn't really hurt that bad. Plus having a Soundwave this cool is well worth the price for me.

It looks like it has a more realistic paintjob than the American version. I still don't like it though.

I'm getting a Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan vibe from Lady Jaye. About the only figure in the coming waves I really like is the Red Ninja, although it's kind of generic. Wonder if they have any B.A.T.S in the works?
-
I would say WW Prime is between good and bad. He doesn't hold together well in alt mode and in bot mode his limbs tend to be loose and fall off. He LOOKS cool, although the paint can be really shabby on some. He's just not that much fun to play with. I would say get one if you can find him for retail, but he's not worth much more than that. A lot of people, myself included, are hoping they'll make a larger plastic version of the toy someday.

I thought he was asking for dad to give him his damn ukulele back.

I was at a Target today that had reset their toy aisles and, low and behold, they are once again carrying the 6" Titaniums. Rather than stocking new ones however they had the Starscream/RID Prime/Rodimus figures out. I'm sure by the time they get around to restocking anything further the Titanium line will be long gone since it is already dead. On a happier note I got my ML Soundwave from BBTS today. Haven't opened him yet but he sure looks pretty in the box.

Because they want to draw in some female watchers? And because jetpacks are way cool? I'll take one little girl with a jetpack over the groups of annoying pre-teens in the last several series.
-
I'll see it because it has Crispin Glover in it.

I have to admit after watching the clip it looks better than all of the previous TF cartoons in the past, and I mean ALL of them. The toys look OK, although Soundwave's ape arms kind of bug me. I'm definitely more receptive of this new direction now than I was at the beginning. I'm still far more excited for the Classics toys though.

THAT's why Homer's epiphany scene felt so familiar when I saw it. I doubt there is any connection with Evangelion but it's still a neat parallel.

Just got back from seeing it. It was pretty much what I expected, an extra long episode with Futurama-style animation. It was consistently funny but it does have the vibe of modern Simpsons more so than the early to mid seasons, which will always be impossible to beat. Overall it was quite funny and I would definitely watch it again and possibly buy the DVD.

Yeah, I've played with the Yamato Chirico figure countless times since I got it (so many cool poses), and the actual Scopedog maybe twice. The 'Dog has the "wow, that's big" factor going for it but other than that I just don't enjoy messing around with it. I've had a lot more fun with the Takara 1/18, which is to me is a perfect blend of sculpt, build, deco and scale. I've even enjoy the 1/48 Burglarydog more than the Yamato, which is like the size of the Yamato's hand.

That sounds right. What made it extra fun for me was the driver's real name was the same as mine, first AND last. That was much cooler than the episode of ALF where the new baby was named and it had my first and middle name... That settles it, I'm getting the desert deco for sure. And here's the Joe tank. It had removable mudflaps, how cool is that? ::edit:: Dang I just consulted with the internets and it wasn't the Mauler's driver that shared my name, it was Wildcard, the Mean Dog driver. Still pretty cool.

If/When I get leader Brawl the first thing I'm doing is hacking off the clear missile pods and finding a way to remove or paint the clear end of the main turret. Other than those he looks great, although he appears to have very little leg articulation (please correct me if I'm wrong). Not sure if I want the regular or desert paint job. The desert version reminds me of a GI Joe tank I had when I was a kid that worked on batteries and had rubber treads. Man that was a great toy.
