  1. Chill out, you act like I said "yay for HK bootleggers!". It's just an observation that it seems easier to get some anime via HK bootlegs than it is through legitimated US distributors, and that Ganeon USA shutting down doesn't help. And I said it was sad...which would generally indicate I wasn't endorsing it.
  2. There are a couple scenes cut, but the one that stands out is when Navin (Steve Martin) is depressed about his girlfriend leaving him and to make himself feel better he rides on one of the carnival rides until he's sick. Something like that, it's been a while since I've actually seen it since so far no version of the VHS or DVD has included it. I remember the scene from watching the film on television several times in the 80's/90's.
  3. I smell a right-wing conspiracy! Seriously though, I HATE it when stuff like that happens. Actually, I should say I hate it when I notice it. If it goes under my radar that's fine. But when there is something I specifically remember that is left out of a DVD it almost makes me not want to watch the movie (I'm looking at you The Jerk 'special edition' DVD!).
  4. It's kind of sad that HK bootleggers seem to be more reliable than US distributors when it comes to anime. I was just about to pick up the Black Lagoon DVDs, too. I think I'll wait and see what happens now.
  5. Great, thanks for the tips, Mpchi! That's good stuff to know.
  6. I've been meaning to get a Dancouga for years but kept putting it off for other "better" toys (like Yammie Valks). Yesterday I decided I absolutely had to have a Dancouga and was able to get one MISB for $155 shipped, which seems like a pretty good deal to me. And to think I almost bought one from BBTS for $180 before shipping! Anyway, is there anything I should know about Dancouga before I rip it out of the box and start manhandling it? Any particular parts that are easily breakable or anything to watch out for? I've heard it's a pretty tough toy, but it seems like there's always some little thing with specialty toys that needs special attention. Thanks in advance.
  7. Ooohhh....even more Reideen! Hard for me to believe this guy is at such a low price point (BBTS has it for 79.99) http://www.toysdaily.com/discuz/viewthread...;extra=page%3D1
  8. Finally some new photos. Reideen is looking good! http://www.toysdaily.com/discuz/viewthread...;extra=page%3D1 And I really like the Iron Gear, although it makes me want a SOC Macross. http://www.toysdaily.com/discuz/viewthread...;extra=page%3D1
  9. LOL, poor guy. Revy can't handle him without a few drinks!
  10. More Revy riding Arcee... I never noticed how phallic Shmoo was until now...
  11. Posted this in the TF thread. Revy riding Arcee from the Transformers movie line... And this picture proves Revy can look good riding on just about anything...
  12. Nice little mod, it looks great. Revy Revy is my favorite female action figure by far. Every pose she can be put in is just filled with character. And she looks great on a bike.
  13. It's a hard choice! Of the SOC figures I have I tend to like the strange ones the best. Gold Lightan is just too odd to not get my love. Character criticisms aside, it's an excellent toy that has a fun transformation and is very solid and could even be played with by a child (gasp!). My only gripe is that I wish I had waited and got the silver version, but that isn't a fault of the toy. Another very toy-like contender, and my favorite-of-the-day is Leopaldon. He's a lot of fun and is built to be played with. The transformation cheat is a bit of a let-down, but at least the 'non posing' arms with their lack of motion and rocket punch give the toy a nice retro funk. I think the toy could be a bit bigger, but the bigger a SOC gets the more the cost shoots into the stratosphere, so.... My favorite combiner so far is Zanbot 3. I'm not sure why he caused so many people to turn their noses up back when he came out, but I think he's fantastic. Aside from some wobble he holds together quite well and the seperate ZanboAce vehicle/bot is a wonderful toy in itself. He doesn't move much from the waist down, but he does have enough mobility to keep him from looking rigid. I just love the overall design of the Zanbot character, and the primary colors on him really make him a gorgeous bot that leaps out from the display. My upcoming favorite looks to be Reideen. I've never seen the show but I love the design of that guy. Can't wait to see some images of the actual toy.
  14. thanks for the review, Mpchi! It sounds like a good-enough alternative to the MP-04 trailer. For me, I love the IDEA of a trailer, any trailer, for MP Prime....but what has kept me from getting one is that I'm reluctant to give up that much shelf space. Hell, I put away most of my Bin/Alts because they take up so much space. I'm even considering NOT buying an SOC Ideon because he's so big. Help!
  15. That's good to hear Skywarp is a heartier beast than Starscream. Hopefully the G1 colors SS will follow suit.
  16. Does Ideon feel overall more solid than Zambot 3? I love Zambot to pieces, and he's definitley sturdy, but he's quite wobbly. I really need to start saving my pennies for Ideon...
  17. Wow, that's too bad. I really feel for his fans. I'm sure he had many more stories to tell. I only read the first book in the Wheel of Time series and, finding it too derivative of Lord of the Rings, I never went further. There's no denying he was a great storyteller though.
  18. Had Alt Rod for a few weeks now and just decided to open him. Glad I did, he's already become my favorite Alt. And with Energon Clocker's pipes he looks even better! (idea stolen from TFW2005)
  19. I was actually considering that. Seems about the only way to get it on there. I'm not that excited about the individual figures in series 2 aside from Marv, and I'm not even really familiar with Monkeyman, but I always have room for big ape figures in my collection.
  20. Ha, good luck with that! I live in Minneapolis and have spotted new figures TWICE in the last two months. Targets around the state are a wasteland and other stores aren't much better. You might luck out with Titanium figures though. Hope you find something though, it's always fun to find something away from home.
  21. I bought the whole series solely to build Pitt, who is absolutely incredible. As for the other figures, I don't like their characters enough to have even taken them out of the packages. Don't know what to do with them, actually, anyone want them? Pitt was worth the price of admission though. My only problem with him is because of a mistake I made putting him together. I didn't see the waist chain in the package and assembled him without it. It's impossible to take his torso apart again to put it on. Oh well, not that big of a deal. I'm looking forward to Monkeyman in the second series, too. And I'm praying to the toy Gods that they make a Maxx figure.
  22. I'll be all over the silver Garland if the shoulders are fine.
  23. I have Rei. From the initial pictures the big heads were a turn off, but once I saw Rei in person it didn't bother me at all. The overall design just kind of 'works' when you see them in person. It's my favorite Rei figure that I have so far, and probably will be until the Revoltech version comes out.
  24. Got this idea from someone at the TFW2005 forums. It's a great combo.
  25. Well, whatever this Tobotech thing turns out to be, even if it's great, it'll never hold a candle to the original SDF Macross series.
