He did Classics Bumblebee, too. I remember him saying in an interview how he intended for him to look like he was wearing sneakers and a hoodie.

I don't have the toy in front of me, but my recollection puts diecast in the chest, thighs, parts of the arms and back half of the legs (they split). I think they did the back half because the front half has a lot of opening panels which would be harder to do in diecast. The joints are also diecast, those being the elbows, hips, knees and the swing-bar that positions the torso from cruiser to walker mode. I think part of the mid-section is diecast, too. The thing is HEAVY. It feels very substantial in your hands. It's also notable that it is SOLID. Sometimes toys this heavy can get a little unstable or wobbly under their own weight, but not IG. Like I said before, it's a brick with lots of articulation. I know Drifand said the plastic was of a cheaper quality, but I didn't get that impression. The plastic on it seemed pretty rugged to me. I kind of got the 'old solid toy from the 80's" vibe when I was handling it.

Got my Iron Gear yesterday and spent a nice evening getting to know him last night. Can't really say much that Drifand didn't touch on in his review. It's a fantastic toy. Built like a brick but incredibly posable. Lots of little details everywhere and plenty of opening hatches that reveal 'innards'. The transformation is simple yet not so simple that it isn't fun. I really don't have a single complaint. Another big winner in the SOC lineup.

Dang, I have to get out and see this while it's still in theaters. My wife and I both love the RE movies.

Wait wait wait...so the version of these movies that will be shown on Comedy Central are going to have stuff added to them?? Are they going to then release THOSE versions on DVD, like "Season 5" or something? I guess I'll just rent the DVDs and see what happens. Or buy them now and just sell them off later if the extended episodes are released. And again, WOO-FREAKIN'-HOO!!!

Anyone check out the new Zelda yet? I'm a huge Zelda fan but a little leary of it since I got SO used to the control style Zelda games have had since OOT. Is this really a stylus-only game?

Although I'm EXTREMELY overjoyed by this, I'm a bit confused. First it was going to be 4 movies, then I heard they were going to be broken up into episodes for television, but now it looks like there are 4 straight-to-DVD movies. Is it not coming back to television then? Are they doing both? Regardless, WOO-HOO!

Other- Ultraman and Votoms. My favorites change all the time though, which is why I typically avoid choosing favorites.

I never really liked Devastator as a toy. The character and idea of him was cool, the toy was pretty joyless for me however. These days the Gestalt I like the best is Dancouga.

If it's a new super-deformed VF a-la 'Joke-Machine', I will thoroughly soil myself with glee.

a new VF-17 really would be the bees knees. I love the chunky Bandai version but would love to see a more 'modern' one.

Are you guys really that excited at the prospect of buying MORE VF-1 toys, and at a scale we've already seen?? Yeah, me too. I think it's because I keep hoping for that PERFECT VF-1 toy. I want something that's as quality, simple and FUN as the old Chunky Monkeys, but with the beauty and elegance of the Yamatos. I honestly don't believe Yamato can fulfill that dream but I always like to see what they can do.

Speaking of the old Trigun figures, has there been a reissue of Vash? I was just at a Suncoast and they had 5 of them hanging on a peg. And they're not figures that have been there before. Back room discovery perhaps?

It is overpriced, no doubt, and I'm pissed that they came out with an excellent-looking version since I had convinced myself not to get the first release. Now I'm coming up with all these justifications for getting it, like "I've wanted a new transforming Macross toy for a long time at any scale", "It's a smaller company so naturally it's going to be more expensive", "There may not be another transforming Macross toy made", etc. And yes, it's very small, but my rantionalization for that is that it will take up less of my dwindling shelf space. That said, my SOC Iron Gear should be here any day now.

I caved and preordered, too. I thought I'd take a wait and see approach but I wiggled to the tune of the Early Birds snakecharming flute.

Dangit, I thought I could happily ignore this stupid toy. That new paintscheme however demands to be displayed on one of my shelves.

This thread along with some clips I've watched on YouTube have really gotten me hyped to watch this series. So what'll it be, like another year before any DVDs are released stateside?

Thanks for the links. I have one on the way from HK and am very eagerly anticipating it. Someone at ToyBoxDX said Bandai used lower quality plastic for it, but I take that with a grain of salt since that was said for the last several releases and I personally didn't notice anything different. I'm sure I'll be quite pleased with Iron Gear. And at the very least it'll be better than the crappy dime-store version I had in the 80's.

I know what you mean. I've got boxes of stuff that were packed away in 2003/2004 and have already gone through three moves without being unpacked. My Chogokins typically get regular love, though. I keep having this fantasty of condensing my collection down to Just Chogokins, but then I decide I'd need to keep the Macross toys, and the Votoms toys and certain Transformers toys and then it just keeps snowballing until I'm left with only one or two things I'd be able to part with.

Iron Gear is out, anyone get one or have one on the way? I'm very close to buying one but I'd like to read at least one review first.
