Heh, I'm the opposite. Never been a fan of Asuka, although she really redeemed herself in EOE. Got my Rei preordered. Considering the quality of Revoltech so far I'm guessing this will be the definitive Rei figure and I can finally STOP buying Rei figures.

Toynami Announces Masterpiece Cyclones at Toyfair
eriku replied to chowyunskinny's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'm sure it will get pushed back even later than that. I don't think any Toynami toy has ever been released anywhere close to schedule (maybe Voltron, I don't recall). In the meantime every other Ride Armor toy that's coming out before then will effectively erase any anticipation for the Toynami release. -
Good to know, and sorry to hear that. I was going to try and remove the nosecone and engine covers before striping them to avoid any sloppiness in those areas.

Dang, I didn't get to preorder Rei before the site went down. Not that she wont be available when the sites back up, but dangit I'm impatient!

let us know what you think of Starscream. I'll be picking mine up this weekend from someone who got one for me. I can't wait to give it an alcohol sponge-bath.

I think it could be around $200 if it were JUST the Prime and Megs figures with no extras. I doubt it would be that bare-bones though since they need to include something exclusive to get people who already have the two figures to buy the set. I'm guessing this will easily be in the $300 to $400 range depending on what's in it. If it contains the figures, the trailer, an official stock/silencer set for Megs, energy weapons, kremzeek, mini-megs in gun mode plus whatever new extras, it could push $500.

I don't see how a Prime VS. Megatron Masterpiece 2-pack could be anything but a bad thing. Things like that don't make for "an exciting time", they're cause for worry because it's unneccessary stuff like that that can kill a line. Who but ultimate completists would want that set (think of the shipping costs!) when Megatron is still readily available for reasonable prices and when there are so many versions of Prime out there that you'd have to make an effort to NOT run into one? As for MP-07 being an accurate Starscream, that poorly translated report is one of the 'speculations' I've been referring to for the last two pages.

No kidding. Especially when blue looks better (compliments the tailfins) and more people seem to prefer it. The only thing I can think of is that Takara has planned all along to release theirs 'clean' and with a blue nosecone, and the US version is painted to differentiate it. Sort of like how MP-01 was clean and the US version had battle damage painted on (and short stacks). Just a guess though. Not sure why Hasbro would just arbitrarily say, "Hey, lets paint it silver." Not that they haven't done wacky arbitrary paintjobs in the past. They sort of specialize in that.

Already got the answer! http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=156585 That sucker IS blue plastic under the paint!! That is awesome news. I can't wait to clean this guy up when (or should I say IF) I get him. Too bad there's nothing to be done about the black wing hinges though.
-
If the nosecone is blue plastic under the silver paint it just makes the silver paint all the more silly. Unless they've been planning all along that the Takara release will be blue and clean and the WalMart version would have the silver and grime to differentiate it. After all, MP-01 was clean for the Takara version and altered for the US release...

That is what most people are guessing, but the truth is that nobody knows for sure yet.

Isn't the WalMart Starscream supposed to be a Toys R' Us exclusive in Australia? I thought I read that somewhere.

I'm not a truist by any means. I just hate the colors on MP03 on a basic aesthetic level. Certain colors are just really unpleasant to my eye, and MP03 is covered in one of them.

I'm sold. Anyone offering a preorder for this yet?

It seems logical that they are planning to change something on the actual toy since the release date has been pushed back by almost 4 months. I wouldn't think just the snazzy Masterpiece box would take that long to put together, especially since all they'd have to change from the Skywarp box is the image of the character.
-
There is speculation that it's being held back so it can be packaged in a standard Takara Masterpiece box as MP-07, instead of the Hasbro package with a Japanese label. There's also speculation that it'll be free of the scorch marks. And there's even further speculation that it'll come with extra accessories like his crown and cape, which would make sense for a Masterpiece release (and he does appear to already be tooled for those accessories, or so I've heard). I am very tempted to just skip the headache of finding the WalMart version and hedge my bets on the Takara release being 'worth' the extra money. It sure is a long time to wait though. Then again the chances of EVER finding a WalMart version don't seem that likely.
-
Yeah, Lost and Found Toys also was told the Japanese version isn't coming until February.

I'm hoping I can just completely take the silver off the nosecone and thruster covers with some alcohol. Of course I have to actually find one first.
-
I've been *this* close to buying one for years, but there's always a little voice that tells me a reissue might come along so I still haven't bought one.
-
I'm still hoping for a bandai-style reissue/remake of the Gakken. If they spruced it up a little with tampo painting it would be gorgeous. Until then, CMs seems to be the last hope at a good Legioss toy.

Meh, I like Kawamori's TF designs, and not because he's the Hory Froating Head. My favorite Optimus Prime toy is the THS 02 that he designed, and his Starscream is easily the best looking version ever as far as I'm concerned. As far as not taking into consideration the personality of the living robot? All I can say to that is, huh? His Prime and Starscream have loads of personality and to me they look more 'alive' than most of the mainline stuff that comes out. I'd love to see Kawamori's take on other characters.

Nothing yet, although a couple people have checked with stores that supposedly have 18 coming in. We've got a little group thing going on over at TFW to help people get one of these. My main focus is to help local people get them. Fargo is close enough for me to consider local (actually most of my friends went to Moorhead state and skateboarded the sh!t out of Fargo for years), I'll let you know if I get an extra.

Yeah, they're probably going to screw all of us collectors in the Minneapolis area by having their agents cherry picking the shelves for this figure. They say right on the page for this figure that they are providing this 'service' for people who don't have WalMarts around. I've used BBTS for years and have really enjoyed their service, but this particular service does a great disservice to the local collectors here. I think I'll show my support by cancelling all of my preorders with them and not buying from them anymore.
-
I would guess maybe even longer than that if they're still working on the proto and haven't shown anything final yet. In any case, they can take all the time they need if that means it'll actually be a good piece and not filled with unforgivable flaws. Here's hoping!

Yikes. Ok then, when is that other Legioss coming out?
