  1. Ouch. Talk about learning the hard way, huh?
  2. This has probably been posted before, but this old Gakken Ride Armor commercial really makes me want one. I just may splurge for one before the new guys come out. I love the old Japanese toy commercials that have toys moving and transforming by themselves. If you look at the other video links there is also a video of the Toynami Cyclone.
  3. Did you at least get a chuckle out of the tragedy? If that were to happen to me, upon seeing the remains I'd have to laugh after saying a few obscene words.
  4. K, I was digging around the internets and found this picture, which I actually recall seeing a while back. Anyone know which Ride Armor is down in the corner? I think it looks like the MegaHouse but I'm not certain. Def. Not the CM's one...
  5. No pics have been seen of the combined armor form for the CMs yet. I'm sure they'll come along very soon though. As for the swing bar, I would place my bets on the CMs version being metal. It sure looks like it in this photo. Another plus for CMs!
  6. Heh, I use the GameBoy player mostly as well, that thing is a lifesaver (or an eyesaver). A DS player for the GC would be great, even if it's something that's not likely to ever happen since the Cube is so old now. Maybe a DS player for the Wii? Eh, I don't know. I agree about the Zelda DS game and actually most games that rely heavily on the stylus. I think the touchscreen is interesting and all, but most of the time it's a bother and there is too much focus on touchscreen activity rather than actual gameplay. It's great for stuff like Brian Age but for other games, not so much. Zelda DS is a real heartbreaker for me as it's the first Zelda game EVER that I just don't want to play, and Zelda is my favorite game series. I almost feel like the Zelda line as I knew it is dead now since any future Wii Zelda will rely heavily on Wiimote movements and DS versions will be like Phantom Hourglass. Call me old fashioned but I don't need a new way to control a game to enjoy a truly good game.
  7. No GBA support? Sh!t, that's half of what I use the DS for. Not that I really mind since I have a DS Lite and no need for future versions.
  8. That stinks on the removable parts for the Megahouse, but it's not enough to turn me off. The more I look at the CMs though, the more it's becoming my favorite. I'm not even sure why, but I get a really fun vibe from it. Can't wait to see it in a more finished state, and combined. Right now the biggest bummer for me is that none of these will come in time for Christmas. Waaaaah!
  9. It'll probably be fine. Those of us with problems seem to be in the minority, but it is still something to consider. I'm just surprised one engine cover cracked and the other didn't. Also of note is that the tiny hinge on the nosecone didn't suffer any ill effects, and I had that thing soaked in it. Slightly different grades of plastic perhaps? I have no idea. All I know is it cracked without any physical manipulation.
  10. LOL, that pretty much sums up this entire hobby. I think the only one of these to recieve a price tag so far is the Megahouse, which is in the $50 range. I'm jus thrilled to be getting a Japanese specialty toy for under $100.
  11. Dang, I forgot about the Beagle one or I would have put up a 4th panel with a big "?" on it. I think what I like best about the CMs version is that it's molded in the green plastic like the old Gakken. The Megahouse and Toynami appear to be painted that color - which isn't neccessarily BAD, but it's hard to beat plastic molded in the correct color sometimes. With all of these options I almost wish there was at least one that I could look at and say "that looks terrible, there's no way I'd consider that one". As it is, they all look pretty fantastic in their own ways. The only one I'd be afraid to buy is Toynami's because it's almost guaranteed to have QC problems. If it gets good reviews when it's released I'll definitely pick one up.
  12. I'm curious to see what the CMs looks like combined. Seems to be missing some bits in these early photos. So far the CMs version seems to have the best proportion when it comes to rider/bike. That damn Megahouse is pure eyecandy though. It's like it looks so good that I overlook the pow-pow-powerwheels vibe.
  13. And some bike shots...
  14. I appologize for yet another Ride Armor thread, but with all the releases coming I thought it would be interesting to compare them all side-by-side and explore the differences, pros and cons of each. I just have images of them combined with the rider for starters, and a shot of the original Gakken to see if the new kids can live up to their daddy's standards. They all look so good. I personally like the styling of the Megahouse version best, but the size of the rider on the bike is a little strange looking. Toynami's looks great, if a bit chunky. I mostly expect their QC to be aweful. CMs looks very basic, but it is an early shot and it could look totally different once painted. I like it though.
  15. Anyone considering cleaning off your Masterpiece Starscream with alcohol, RECONSIDER. I've never heard of a problem with alcohol harming plastic before, but a few people over at TFW2005, including myself, have ended up with bad results. I cleaned the engine flaps last night with 91% alcohol and everything looked great. The toy sat all day today and when I got home I checked it over and one of the hinges for the flap has almost crumbled through. There is a jagged, gaping crack there now and I'm afraid to move it. I'm guessing alcohol got into the hinge and wasn't able to evaporate right away, but I didn't take any precautions against that because I've NEVER heard of any problems with alcohol. Since the toy just sat untouched I can't imagine anything else causing this.
  16. I'm finding it hard to believe that this line actually exists. They're virtually nowhere to be found around here, and there are TONS of Targets and WalMarts. I sure like looking at the photos of these alleged figures though.
  17. I'll be fine if it's on the same level as the PA Orguss, I love that little thing. I only transform it between the bot and flight modes though, which doesn't require any parts removal (except technically the hands, but I just leave those on).
  18. The only stress mark on mine so far was cause by my own dumb ass self tugging on an engine cover to see if it would come off. It didn't come off but a nice stress mark formed by the hinge. Stress marks suck, but like Promethuem5 said, as long as it doesn't break I wont get too bent out of shape.
  19. I paid $100 for my Matchbox 1S Roy. Box is a little worn but the toy is factory fresh, complete and has the stickers (which I don't really care about as I'll never apply them). Well worth the $100 as far as I'm concerned. After all the truly awesome stuff that's been released since, it's still my favorite Macross/Robotech toy.
  20. The only toys I get for Xmas are ones I give myself. That said, I'm hoping to find a festive SOC Raideen under the tree.
  21. While I LOVED those figures (the guy that sculpted those is a true artist), I can already tell I'll like the Revy ones better. Bigger scale, more usable articulation and the joints should be a lot stronger. My Manga Rei liked to fall apart...even though that kind if suits her character.
  22. I agree 100% on all of your points. This toy is fantastic. And once I got a lot of the mud off of him he was even more fantastic. The transformation did start to frustrate me until I consulted the instructions and saw that I was just being stupid. My one gripe is that I can't seem to get the two cockpit halves flush with each other. There's about a 1mm gap in between them that I can't seem to correct.
  23. It's a WalMart exclusive that they are currently selling for $48.99 (or therabouts). It's cartoon colors but has a good amount of black 'battle damage' or 'weathering' on it that can be easily removed with alcohol. It can also be made even more cartoon-accurate by removing the silver paint from the nosecone, which is the same blue color as the tailfins underneith.
  24. I think the Toynami Cyclone LOOKS just fine in the photos we've seen. The problem is that Toynami has proven time and again that what you see in prototype pics and what you end up holding in your hands are two drastically different things. Kind of like being in a fast food place and seeing that big glossy photo of a burger piled high and loaded with fresh toppings...and then you sit down and frown at your wrapped sack of sh!t.
  25. Unfortunately that is the phrase that Toynami should adopt as their motto. I'm not a card-carrying Toynami basher or anything and am quite happy with their Voltron and Alpha Morphers, but everything else I've ever bought from them (MPC VF, Superposable Alpha, I-men, VF Morphers, MPC Alpha, Lain doll) has been pretty terrible in quality. I have absolutely no rational reason to believe the QC of their Cyclone is going to be any better. I HOPE it is, like I always hope, but they've just painted themselves into a crappy corner. And in response to TheLoneWolf, I wouldn't be surprised at all if their latest delay is because they want to tweak things based on the recent pics of the other companies Ride Armor toys. Toynami's other motto should be "We believe imitation is the highest form of flattery!".
