Aw yeah. Thanks for the link. I wasn't ever really sold on the 51 until I saw these pics of the Ivanov. That color really suits this design IMO. Well, one more $200 toy to add to the list.

The Megazone 23 Garland By Yamato Thread
eriku replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
LOL, my replacement parts came from Yamato but my Garland isn't scheduled to arrive until tomorrow. I am very impressed at how helpful and FAST YamatoUSA is with this issue. Too bad they don't offer the same service for bad Valk parts.- 1056 replies

Unless the neck joints are different, I don't see why not. I was actually going to swap Rei and Revy's heads just for fun, and to see what Rei would look like with a more, er, womanly body.
-
Anyone get one or both Yamato Fyana figures yet? They're out and in stock at various places. I'm tempted to get one but I'd like to know if there are any differences are between the two, other than one being pink and one being purple.

Wow...talk about pulling a Microman. Right down to the translucent colored plastic. Not my thing, but looks like it should be a fun series.

Well, that IS the best way to control, I mean LEAD your people. All hail Emporer Graham!

January is OK with me, it's not to far off. And by then I might have gift-return money. I'm still placing my bets on a February release though.

I think a "what toys do you display at work"" thread would be fun, although it might be too random of a topic to survive in this forum. I actually never thought of bringing one of these guys to work, they'd be perfect Macross items to display and not have to worry if they get broken or stolen. I think I'll bring my morpher 1D with me tomorrow.

Please don't post an animated gif. O_o

Shucks, I was hoping my previous post would be thread-related AND help to rid us of Zardoz. DAMN YOU ZARDOZ!!!

I assume this toy will feature a mind-controlled transformation? Or is that too much to ask of Yamato? Think about it though, the commercial DID show the toy transforming on it's own, without any hands touching it. How else could that be done if not mind-control?

D'oh, thanks for the clarification, I am indeed referring to the chrome Miriya. I forgot all about the metallic ones actually.
-
The panel lines look good on Miriya. Speaking of her, have you seen the metallic version that comes in a tin? I picked that up from Media Play several years ago, it was an exclusive to them and Sam Goody. The tin has some really great graphics all over it, even on the bottom and the inside of the lid.

Technically it's still "December". We only just saw finished protos a week or two ago, so the boat can't be that close to shore yet. If I had to guess, I would say they aren't coming out until February.
-
Yeah, I feel bad for Aoshima but I guess it's a lesson learned. Stay in-house, or at least don't hitch your wagon to Toynami's star, or I suppose black hole is a more appropriate term. I'm sure Aoshima's reputation will remain intact, their good product far outweighs this one debacle. Toynami on the other hand, I'm really not sure how they manage to keep chugging along.
-
Looks like a bootleg, but I like the presentation of it. Very 'retro'.
-
Posting this here because I couldn't find the thread for the Toynami/Aoshima Tread.....according to Matt over at ToyBoxDX: "YacoLog spoke to Aoshima and was told that due to fallout from the recent quality-control problems they had with their Shin Seiki Gokin Legioss toys, they have cancelled development of the Tread "Beta" Fighter designed to dock with them. Looks like CM's is now the only game in town." I can't say I'm disappointed as I had zero hopes/expectations for the Toynami/Aoshima Tread.

If you end up vomiting into the box because the toys are just so absolutely disgusting, please post photos.

I think perhaps the biggest case for wanting Yamato to produce these toys is for the sake of consistency. Macross F toys made by Yamato would most likely 'fit in' with all of the other Yamato valks, wheras ones made by Bandai, no matter how good or bad, would most likely stick out as being from an obviously different maker. On those standards I can understand wanting only Yamato to make these. Inconsistency wouldn't make much of a difference to my personal collection because my collection is a hodge-podge anyway (Chunky Monkey, Joke Machine, 1/100 Toynami, 1/48 Yammie, Bandai VF-17,etc), but folks who have a lot of, or only Yamato birds in their hanger would understandably want consistency.
-
20 years of "meh" in general, or just for Bandai's Macross toys? I'm a bit surprised to see all this loathing of Bandai considering they haven't made any Macross items for 10 years. 10 years ago Bandai was just getting started with the SOC line, and few toys compare with those. Seems like a lot of unwarranted pessimism, or an over-willingness to take sides and pick a favorite. It doesn't seem fair to judge Bandai based on stuff they made that long ago. By those parameters we should only judge Yamato by what they were making 10 years ago. As I said before, I think both companies are more than capable of making great toys for this series. If people are afraid Bandai just 'wont care' about Macross enough to do the toys justice, well, maybe Bandai have been paying attention and will want to be competitive with what Yamato makes. Maybe they'll make some valks that equal Yamato's engineering but are made with better plastic and higher QC. Anything's possible.
-
They are most definitely NOT the worst toy ever, that's just overly dramatic. If you go into these expecting a mildly amusing cheap plastic doo-dad then you shouldn't be too disappointed. They're cheap, they're plentiful, and you get what you pay for. I actually quite enjoyed the Super 1S I had until I scraped together enough to buy a Joke Machine. Consider it a "Starter Valk".
-
I have the MegaHouse Orgroid and it's quite nice. Very good QC overall and excellent engineering/construction. The only other MH toy I have is Panda Z, which is a bit older but still a quality toy. The only CMs toy I have is a Roy Fokker trading figure, which doesn't have the best painjob but I wouldn't compare a trading figure to a gokin anyway. I trust what most people say about CMs toys, which is that they're high-quality.

The Megazone 23 Garland By Yamato Thread
eriku replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Any reviews/pics of the Factory Garland yet? I just bought my first Garland yesterday. I debated for a long time over which one to get since I like all of them. I was going to wait for the proto-Garland, but then I remembered how many toys I have on preorder for January/February already. Long story short, I came across an original Garland on Ebay for $79.99 and couldn't pass it up. Right after buying it I shot YamatoUSA and email asking if they were still offering replacement shoulders. They replied a few hours later and said to just give them an address and they'll send the parts. Now we'll see which gets here first, the Garland or the shoulders! LOL- 1056 replies

He's very cool about that sort of thing. Carlos is very professional and responsive so if you just email him what you want to do he'll be more than happy to accommodate you and typically does it quickly. It would be nice if you could cancel your order automatically through the site, but he might have a reason for not having that feature.

HLJ still says December, or to be more specific they say they expect it on or around December 31st. Even still, I've never expected this thing to make the December release date, it just seems too soon for something we only started seeing finished protos of. I hope I'm wrong though, it would be a fantastic toy to start 2008 with.
