The Megazone 23 Garland By Yamato Thread
eriku replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
To be fair even Shogo has a hell of a time fitting in there. I actually couldn't get him in there, but I've seen photos so I know it's possible. As for Revy, she's too much woman to cram into such a cramped space.- 1056 replies

OK, THAT is the Inbit proto I made a reference two a few pages back. I wonder if anything will become of that and Mint?

Yeah after a bum MPC Valk, a bum Alpha and now the super-bum Legioss, I'm pretty much done with Toynami's "high end" toys. I'll still buy a 1/100 here and there, and I'm contractually obligated to buy their entire Futurama line, but aside from that they can bite my shiny metal a$$. I have zero interest in their Beta (why would I when there is nothing worthwhile to connect it to?) and zero reason to buy their Ride Armor with MegaHouse and CMS on deck, so avoiding Toynami's Top Shelf offerings shouldn't be very hard.
-
Sorry to hear that, but also not surprised. Have you transformed it yet, or are you considering returning it? I returned mine to BBTS for store credit. If they ever put the CMS Legioss/Beta up for preorder I might just use my credit towards that set.

Is it going to be anatomically correct like the last 12" Motoko figure?

That doesn't neccessarily apply to everything MegaHouse puts out though. My Orguss Orgroid looks every bit as good as the promo pics, as does my Panda Z. I'm thinking MH will be making a conscious effort to get these Mospeadas as well-made as possible considering they have lots of competition. I may be crazy, but I'm still going for the CMs AND the MH mospeadas. Seems a little superflouous, but I like them both too much to choose one over the other. The Toynami has yet to win my heart.

Simpsons Vs. Family Guy (Family Guy Steals From Simpsons)
eriku replied to DJ Loe Kee's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I like both shows, too, and tend to find myself laughing more at new Family Guy than new Simpsons. I also agree that there are only so many things that can be done, but that doesn't mean there aren't blatant rip-offs. I know I've seen more rip-offs of the Simpsons on Family Guy than what was represented by the video above, and each time I see something I say, "Hey, that was just like the Simpsons!" and then I keep laughing because overall I really don't care. -

If it does I'm sure they'll show Chris's wang. -

Just finished Drawn to Life and even though it's an incredibly easy and redundant platformer (and a wee bit RPG) the ability to draw/color various things made it a blast. What's funny is I NEVER would have given this game a chance if I hadn't gotten it by mistake. My wife grabbed it for me as a last-minute Xmas gift thinking it was the new Zelda (the character on the cover does look a little like Windwaker Link). Rather than return it I decided to give it a shot. Glad I did. I hope to see more personalized action games in the future. As for the cobalt blue DS, I'd rather have that than white. The only reason I got white was because it was better than black and pink. That new red one is a pretty vile looking thing, too.

No, I see it. Totally looks like a duck (or goose) coming in for a landing. Now someone just needs to photoshop in an inbit in a hunters cap with a shotgun waiting in the reeds.

Well, we all know some of the best thinking time is when we're on the john. Plato, Socrates, Michelangelo and DaVinci all came up with some of their best ideas when they were squatting behind a bush.
-
Does it really matter anyway since none of you guys are even going to buy one of these things?
-
Heh, yeah "good one" is relative to standards. My idea of a 'good' Toynami Alpha is one with nothing broken and all of the parts moving like they're supposed to. Even with working parts it doesn't seem like a 'play with me' toy. The best thing is has going for it is that it fills the Mospeada hole in my collection.
-
That's a good idea, lord knows there's plenty at BBTS to spend the money on. I also thought about asking them if I could exchange it and then if the second one is still cruddy, return that for store credit. It's just that the chances of getting a good one seem so slim that it would probably be an excercise in futility.
-
I let BBTS know about the problems with this thing and they said they have already recieved several returns/exchanges. They said they can give me a full refund, exchange it, or I can keep it and they'll give me a $20 credit. I'm tempted to exchange, but I'm almost certain to get another stinker that may be even worse. I'm also tempted to take the refund and maybe just try to find a good MPC Alpha. If I keep it I don't think I would feel right taking the $20 credit since this is no fault of BBTS's. What would you guys do?

That's an excellent point, Roger, and something I always forget. Do you know which toy companies do own their own factories? I thought Takara and Bandai did but I could be mistaken.
-
Of out sheer curiosity on what they have to say, I decided to email Toynami about the problems on my Legioss and ask them if there's any way I could get a replacement Alpha or just an arm from them. I'm sure they'll say something along the lines of, "It's an Aoshima product so we can't do anything about it", but I thought it was worth a shot.
-
Pizza delivery for...I.C. Weiner? Oh Crud. I picked 1000 years so I can join the Planet Express crew.
-
It has a stamp that says "2004 HG TOYNAMI". I didn't see "Aoshima" anywhere on the toy. The box has a whole side with the Harmony Gold and Toynami logos and warnings printed in English. I have no way of knowing who messed this up so bad, I can only speculate, and speculation points out that Aoshima has a fairly spotless track record whereas Toynami has had problems with nearly every single toy they've released. Even though I don't know weather or not Aoshima dropped the ball on this, I don't think it matters because Toynami's product was so flawed to begin with. Aoshima should sever all ties with Toynami because the Legioss is an embarrassment. It's truly shameful that a company that is so highly regarded for their quality has to be associated with a toy that, in my opinion, is of worse quality than a Hong Kong knock-off.

Most Joes are plain human figures, so the full height of Rei and Stig combined with their Mospeadas should be taller than 3 3/4 or 4". I'd guess 5" at the least. I don't think the price is that unreasonable. Compared to similarly sized US toys, sure, but until Hasbro starts filling Target shelves with Mospeada and Macross toys I'm kind of obliged to pay higher prices for stuff I want from Japan. For a little perspective, the Votoms Mellowlink set was between $40 and $50 for a 1/18 scale figure with motorcycle. And that didn't even transform.
-
That could be. It would explain why one side of the bicep doesn't pull out all the way and the other side doesn't rotate. I'll see if I can get in there somehow. I just wish they had used screws like they did on the rest of the toy.
-
Heheh, yeah, maybe $150 wouldn't cover that. I still want one though.
-
[dream sequence] I want a company to make a 1/18 scale Legioss, fully transformable, built for play and no more than $150. Impossible? I don't think so. The Legioss is a relatively small aircraft, so the bulk of one in GI Joe scale (Like CMS Ride Armors) shouldn't be much bigger than the Yamato Scopedog (not counting the wings of course). Keep the details simple, don't load it full of opening missile hatches (unless they can afford to), and pack it with a pilot that is also compatible with a 1/18 Ride Armor toy. A Legioss this size should have very sturdy construction, the parts would be able to lock together tightly and the joints would be big enough to not snap or break during transformation. I'm thinking like the old Gakken, only larger and with a few more articulation points. I think Yamato could pull this off if they went the same route as their 1/12 Scopedog toys, which are between $100 and $150. They probably wouldn't want to make one that size, but they should, dammit. [/dream sequence]
-
Thanks for the tip on the head, I may try that. The biggest thing that bothers me is the one arm not pulling out all the way and not rotating at the joint. There are no screws holding those parts together, all glue, so I can't get in there to see what the problem is.
