  1. If CMs Legioss has no attempt at accuracy, what does it look like, an artichoke?
  2. I kind of like that the legs don't telescope, less chance of them collapsing. And the bright colors are one of the selling points of these things for me because they evoke the cartoon nature of the anime more than the current Legioss toys do. Although I've always liked the dark almost olive drab of the old Gakken, even if it's not 'anime accurate'. And a couple points about Toynami's being a beautiful design: For one, it's not their design (it was based on a kit) so they can't really take any credit for it, and for two, it has so many gaps and holds together so poorly that most of them look like broken-down wrecks, which ruins any of the nice aesthetics the design has.
  3. I'm hoping Bandai goes the SOC route for at least one of the valks in MF. Although they'd need a separate line to do a full assortment of valks from the show.
  4. Sure it can. More here:CMS 'Regios' page
  5. Nor were my comments directed at you, just the overall atmosphere of the posts I've read here. I'm sure most of it is because Yamato has been the primary Macross toymaker for a long time now and with Bandai coming on board we're kind of entering into unknown territory - and people don't want to get their hopes up. But just remember people, kittens and bunnies, KITTENS AND BUNNIES!!
  6. I still believe that it's not fair to base their current abilities and product on what they did ten years ago. Pretty much every toy manufacturer has changed in that time. It's interesting to me to read the negative comments aimed at Bandai, because many of them seem so personal, like Bandai offended them just by making toys that weren't collectors items by todays standards. It's completely illogical to compare something that was meant to be a cheap toy (Bandai's Mac.7 toys and the Chunkies, which aren't even Bandai toys originally) to something that is aimed solely at deep-pocketed adult collectors. Yet people keep going back to those comparisons like no time has passed between the era of the 1/55, the era of the Mac.7 toys and now. And for what it's worth, the Bandai Mac. 7 toys were pretty good toys for their time, and the 1/55 valks are still some of the best quality transforming toys out there, even by todays standards.
  7. Thanks Shun! I love the simplicity of these just as much as I love the detail and 'anime-style' quality of MH's. These really scream "Play with me!!!" Something about that 1980's basic bare-plastic feel that gives these things soul. It's like the transforming ride armor that I always wished the Robotech one was when I was a kid. I loved that toy but it was such a bummer that it didn't transform.
  8. So...for those of you who refuse to support Bandai because they haven't shown much interest in Macross over the last 10 years, what would you do if Yamato announced plans for a Mospeada line? Would you use the same line of logic and refuse to have any kind of optimism because Yamato hadn't shown interest in Mospeada in the past, or would you look at everything else Yamato has done and be excited for the project because they seem capable of making a good product?
  9. Gotta have the Jeep. Was there ever a model kit of the jeep?
  10. That's what I want to know. That prototype is too well done for it to be something they just slapped on for that toy show. If Mint turns out to be some kind of limited exclusive, then I'll join the ranks of bitchers & moaners. Or maybe CMs will do a Mospeada figure collection like they did for Macross. Doesn't seem likely, but here's hoping.
  11. I hope so, too. Even if the Revoltech females are from different shows/games, I still want to display them together. If the Fraulein scale is going to be the standard, I think they should re-release Revy in that scale.
  12. It's ideas like that that would bring me back to Transformers.
  13. Even though Star Wars seems almost done to death, I agree with you. Really the only small articulated plastic figures there have ever been for SW has been Kenner/Hasbro. About the only thing that could get me to buy another Luke,Leia, Han, Chewie, Vader and Stormtrooper would be if they were done Revy style. As for the SF Revies, those look fantastic! I'll be getting Ryu and Chun Li (hasn't she always had thunder thighs?) for sure. Not sure sure about the other two since I don't really identify them with the franchise yet, being new characters and all. They look cool though. I've got my fingers crossed for a Sakura.
  14. I actually saw four of them at Target about two weeks ago. I was very, very tempted to get one, but since I already have a working DS I just couldn't justify it. That was the one and only time I've seen them in person though.
  15. I checked my 1st release Roy for the cracks and, lo and behold, there they were. I never would have thought to look at those joints since nothing seemed loose or was falling apart. It still sucks that they're cracked, even if it dosn't hinder the toy. I was going to replace it with the Roy/Fastpack set anyway, so no biggie I guess.
  16. That's what I used to think, but after looking at the old Gakken closer I noticed a lot of similarities, mostly in how the transformation works and the proportions (for example in flight mode they both have a really elongated back section). I think Toynami wanted to make a cheap and simple-to-transform Alpha, were inspired by the design of the little Gakken, and improved upon it. The Alpha Morpher is easily my favorite Toynami toy to date. It's also, sadly, the best Legioss toy I own.
  17. That's not surprising, considering how much Toynami likes to borrow existing designs. Even their Morpher Alphas borrow heavily from the design of the smaller Gakkens, although in that particular case the Toynami product turned out better IMHO.
  18. LOL, SK isn't quoted nearly enough anymore.
  19. Ditto. Although if a different toy company announced plans to make a Legioss (beta or no Beta) in a larger scale I would probably lose interest in CMs offering pretty fast.
  20. Surely you don't think everyone is a completist. I know some people are, but it's always been my general impression that most people aren't, especially when it comes to expensive Japanese toylines. I can't say I'd feel a nagging emptiness in my collection without an annonymous green Mospeada rider that nobody was expecting or asking for to begin with.
  21. I'm surprised at the backlash on the limited nature of the green guy, I was under the impression nobody was even that interested in it. At least it's not a main character.
  22. Lost and Found Toys www.laftoys.com Hobby Link Japan www.hlj.com Those are just the two that come to mind, but I know there are more.
  23. Thanks for the pics. These things are really looking like some high-quality toys. I love how the harken back to the 'sturdy plastic toy' look of the 80's. Can't wait for these to start shipping.
  24. Although the tips of the tailfins do stick out, I notice in these picks that they are at least folded in all the way. Most earlier pics had them sticking out at an angle. Maybe you guys can just trim down the tailfins and repaint them? I hope the missile bay doors on the legs aren't as fragile as Toynami's, simply because of the size. I still think this scale is way too small to be cramming that many little details into.
  25. As LSB said, just buy one and email YamatoUSA asking for shoulders. Yamato sends them very quickly and they're easy to install, all you need is a screwdriver.
