  1. Oh for the love of Eris....... damn, feeble-minded vs. posts.... MW forums are bound for hell in a handbasket and it's threads like this that pack the sandwiches! C'mon guys, surely we have better things to discuss than this.....
  2. I don't think the population of earth was reduced to such a level that it couldn't have repopulated itself naturally, there was just a need to QUICKLY propagate the species and spread them out. Earth is still "home plate", and as a viable and populated planet, the UN had every need to protect it, hence, they spared no expense.

    1:60 GBP-1 !?

Because the 1/60 line is still pretty popular. Also because it makes sense to test the waters with the smaller scale. If people don't fork the bank over for the 1/60 version (read: if it doesn't sell well) then you likely won't see a 1/48 version. I think this is a pretty acceptable way of handling things. I hate it that so many fans take it so damn personal that Yamato didn't release the 1/48 scale version FIRST, and THEN worry about the blokes that still collect 1/60s (rewooh, this isn't against you, it's just a rant in general, don't take it personal). I'm so incredibly sick and tired of this "Bigger is the only way to be better" kick. [old person rant mode] This thing looks like it's gonna be friggin cool, but people can't stop worrying about ("oh, that's nice... when's the 1/48 coming out? Why didn't they release it in 1/48 FIRST??")... lots of folks are loosing respect for Yamato when it comes to this. The 1/60 line is a damn fine product. Yes it has it's flaws, but so has every release of the VF-1 (or any other valkyrie for that matter) that ANY company has put out so far. We've become a community of damn spoiled perfectionists. We want it friggin HUGE, we want it SUPER DETAILED, and we want it at something like $35. You know, I almost liked it better when there were just the 1/55's and the 1/100's... and if you wanted it super detailed, you DID IT YOURSELF (and hence, it was something to be proud of). I hate to say it, but Robotech fans have a SERIOUS leg up on us in this department. All they really have is the MPC, and they love it. Yamato is our flagship company now. they've made a widly varied 1/60 VF-1 lineup, all of which otherwise wouldn't be available to us. I mean, who ELSE has provided us with a VF-1D, a VT-1, or a VE-1(recently)? And the TV super valks...Weapons and armor all available in the same package. Each valkyrie comes with a full ordinance loadout (with the exception of the Ostrich and Elint) separate hands, VHF antennas, pilots, and well, you get the idea. These are the type of details that Bandai/Takatoku customers of 20 years ago would've LOVED to have. (they SORT of got some of this stuff with the HCM lineup) Well, now that same company that is bending over BACKWARDS for us is providing us with yet another item that no other company is producing (again, for nearly 20 years) Are the 1/48's better? Hell yes! BUT... the point is this: Don't forget your roots! We wouldn't have the 1/48's if it weren't for the success of the 1/60 lineup. Also don't forget that there are STILL those amongst us who love and collect the 1/60s (ME, for one... and I can't be the only one). Let this new hot innovation run it's course. If it stands to our tests, then there is a strong hope for a 1/48 version. [/old person rant mode]
  4. I'll be the first to say that Reba West's singing could wake the dead... but Arlon Ober and Ulipo Minucci did ok on the rest of the stuff.
  5. I give this poll "not long" to live (it serves no real purpose) but I'll respond anyhow... I've had no less than THREE handles bounced from there and I maintain a silent presence with my fourth. Like they say.... keep your friends close and your enemies closer
  6. Manucci's stuff for Robotech was quite good in some places (Possibly Robotech's one and only saving grace), that is, if you don't mind a saxophone that's about as horridly out of tune as it can get sometimes. Macross' soundtrack is definately worth the listen. While Minmay's stuff takes a special kind of aesthetic enjoyment, some of the instrumental pieces are quite good ("Fate's Arrow" comes to mind). Get the "Macross: The Complete" collection..... it has all the music from the TV series and DYRL and several tracks that they wound up never using. By and large, DYRL had better music, but the TV series had one or two tracks that were just too cool to pass up.
  7. Most Resin kits are considerably more limited runs. Where injection-mold kits are typically mass-produced, the best resin kits can see a release of 1,000 or less oftentimes. Overall level of detail tends to be higher Pieces are solid plastic(resin), must sturdier and heavier Typically more challanging to build.
  8. I think the only domestically released item we ever saw was a plush moogle. That's all I've ever seen.
  9. LOL Gepelnitch was supposed to be male and had a chest some women would die for. I didn't have any problem seeing this (on the screen), but I had a great deal of difficulty trying to figure out why they made it so.
  10. You're not doing yourself a whole lot of good with posts like these. I can't stand Robotech as much as the next Macross-Purist, and I roundly despise anything Harmony Gold does, statements like this we can do without. Which sounds more intelligent? Let's find out: Example #1: "It's crap! I hated it and it smoked the monkey pole!" Example #2: "I didn't like this. I think the animation is poor compared to current releases. Likewise I thought the character development was substandard. Hardly worthy of maintaining my interest." okay, the examples above are literally night-and-day different. What makes example #2 better than #1 isn't the sophistication of the words, it's the fact that there is an explination for why he feels the way he does. You'll come across as far more intelligent if you support WHY you feel the way you do instead of just saying "it's crap!" Macrossworld already has a bad rap with the folks over at Robotech.com, and while I don't care a fart in a windstorm what they think about us, there are others (AKA those who run this board) who don't need that sort of attention. Just show a little more consideration in your posts from now on, please! B)
  11. You'll have to clean up your english before I can make heads or tails out of what you're trying to ask. Which Hikaru VF-1A? the 1/60? or the 1/48?? just what are you trying to do?
  12. Man, people sure do like to whine a lot. The SE's were just fine. For BETTER OR WORSE, it helped to bring them up to par with the 1-3 episodes.
  13. feh, it's close enough for government work.

    1:60 GBP-1 !?

You can read that on the card? I could barely make it out. I dunno... your eyes must be better than mine. *sigh* what can I say? I'm just really good like that (wanna know the secret to my success?? I look at the BIG picture... literally and figuratively ) It would seem that GBP fans everywhere are starting to get their wishes granted... the GBP isn't my favorite variant, but it looks cool enough that I don't think I can pass it up (I also anxiously await the first guy that does a "thunder hammers" custom) I'm guessing the price will run somewhere similar to a Super/Strike 1/60. *MAYBE* a little more.
  15. Ahh, I was referring to the PSX/Saturn game. Yeah, I always thought it was strange that in the arcade game, you had to collect powerups to change modes (and the overhead view really made it not worth the effort anyhow)

    1:60 GBP-1 !?

Umm, why bother? The little card in front of it says it's 1/60........
  17. Depends on if you mean the TV series or the movie. It's pretty clear-cut and dry in DYRL. The armistice was signed following the death of Gorg Bodolza. (probably early 2012) The TV series is a little more open to interpretation (no exact date was given IIRC), but I would think the war would be "OFFICIALLY" over, again, after Bodolza's death. At that point, Humans and Zentraedi were living together in a state of openly declared peace. Only rebel forces remained to fight later. Since it wasn't any kind of organized resistance (on a grand scale), I would say those were simply post-war skirmishes
  18. Despite our differences on a previously discussed game, I'm inclined to agree with you here.... The remake was good (in my opinion) but it just wasn't the same as the original... Maybe it's the fact that if an enemy dies and more characters are still targeting it, they switch targets (something that always caused me to re-think my battle strategy in the original) I know it's not as realistic, but it certainly added to the challange of the game.
  19. bah, it's a name.... so what if he is or isn't a fan? Sometimes I think people read too much into things (and this coming from a HP fan)
  20. I believe it's another kind of beer/alcohol called "Octopus Highball" I could have the wrong frames (there are people who could say for sure), but I think thats it
  21. Ummm, DYRL had no powerup system. It was the one and only game where the weaponry is vitually 100% faithful to the actual movie I wouldn't really mind if it had that sometimes-offered dating aspect to it, as long as it wasn't the central part of the game, but merely a cool side-part to it.
  22. LOL, you could always try to hunt down the nafarious ARAFAT and see if he still has those plated "death valks" for sale on his site (his FUBAR term for plated M7 valks), but beware, he's a shady dealer.
  23. IV has to be my favorite... perfect mix of story, music, and gameplay. VI is my second VIII and X tie for third (good storylines, but the gameplay is all hell) VII, extremely overrated
  24. Ah of course, what was I thinking? Duke, who obviously cannot be wrong, MUST have the right of it... of course it's FACT, the Duke says so, what else do ya need? Like I said... show me some proof besides some overall sales numbers... we have a couple of thousand members here... give me TEN solid testimonies of people on this board who bought it THEN had their video-gaming lives changed by FFVII (as in, they never looked at RPGs the same way again, such as we're debating here) and I'll admit that perhaps I was wrong and that maybe I should give the game a second chance. I'll admit you're right and swallow my pride... IF this can be done... otherwise how would you prove it to me? And I'm sorry, why do you have this need to call me the color "maroon"?
  25. ahem, it's MORON and while you may not have specifically stated it, you're certainly implying it. I think we've gone far enough astray to kill this topic.
