That's gotta be the most sensitive post this board has ever seen Never did enjoy M*A*S*H so much, but I know a lot of people who really enjoyed it.

Japan painted up an F-15 in Millia's scheme

The pilot probably has an enormous ego by now... -
The wing-mounted gunpods are pretty tight... I likes!

Caught a burglar red-handed in my house!
Skull Leader replied to Majestic's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
aren't you a cop? was. That doesn't mean I'm not a red-blooded, privacy-loving american I turned in my badge and moved into the private security/investigations industry when I went to college (as a full-time student, I couldn't work a standard beat). Law-Enforcement was a distant second to my first love of music. -
"did you know"wierd aviation trivia
Skull Leader replied to buddhafabio's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The same thing has happened to a Tomcat... the glove-vane has enough surface and provides enough lift that a tomcat with it's wing sheared about halfway off managed to land (on a carrier no less!) It was from the VF-213 Black Lions Speaking of battledamaged tomcats, there was a plane (VF-142 Ghostriders) lost it's nosecone in flight... shattered most of the canopy and forward windscreen... it also broke the pilot's right collarbone and put glass in his eyes... and he still managed to catch the 2 wire on a perfect trap with a broken collarbone and almost zero forward visability! This tomcat (Bu161422) is now flying with the VF-103,btw Finally, back in 1983, the airwing of the Eisenhower managed to lose THREE TOMCATS IN THE SAME DAY (2 collided and 1 hydraulic failure) -

Well done! Yeah, despite what the officer said (and he's probably right) the first guy that steps into MY house and tries to take my stuff just took his own life on contract (and I'm not gonna call the police until I'm good and finished with him) -
man, that is one beat-to-hell VF-1..... his aircraft almost wouldn't pass inspection (lol, it's only unrealistic in that we usually don't see a cannon fodder with that many bullet holes and still flying! Only major characters get that bonus)

given the age of the photo, I'm guessing either the Nimitz or the IKE -
opinion: deaths in anime
Skull Leader replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
In my opinion, the worst "sucks to be you death" had to be that poor general in Gundam Wing that got dropped out of an airplane at 30,000 and THEN was shot in the head on his way down by Lady Unne.... you literally have to stop and ask yourself "damn woman, what the hell is WRONG with you???" -

lol, that boat would've come apart in NO time under that kind of fire.... -
I am a diehard believer in the joys of the mouselook function. Give me just enough time to acclimate myself to any game and I will at least give a pro "pad" gamer a run for his money. In one hand I have all the look function and fire control/selection (with a simple 3-button optical mouse)I will ever need... and on the other hand, anything else I could ever want, all mapped to my fingertips. Of course, it's really all about what you're used to... but set me down with my keyboard/mouse next to a game-pad gamer and give us a new FPS we've never played, and there's little doubt in my mind who will be whooping ass sooner. It's just that much easier.

Someone's in trouble!
Skull Leader replied to the white drew carey's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
err, she's not exactly a new carrier. The boat in the picture is the U.S.S. Nimitz (CVN-68) and she's been at sea longer than most of us have been alive. P.S., I think she's in for repairs/refitting right now, anyone know for sure? -

I'm not really a sailor, and I know a damn sight less about Aircraft carriers from the Forrestal class-up, but I was under the impression that rudders were built to work in tandem? Wouldn't you have to break something in order to get them working independently? -

Well, let's be honest with ourselves here for a moment. There are only a couple of other nations in the world that field boats even close to as large as what the US is floating right now (the UK, Russia, and maybe one or two others). We have these sort of incidents off our own coasts often enough, everyone (around here) is supposed to know the rules of the water, and generally know well enough to stay away from US warships under power. When other nations get involved however, they often see it as "American Supremecy" or some such bullshit (not always, but this often happens, and it'll likely pop up in this case also). They fail to understand that the navy is indescriminate... they don't intend for these things to happen, but they sometimes do. ANY time you put a boat with such a large displacement (I.E. an aircraft carrier) anywhere close to commercial maritime lanes, accidents WILL happen. -
Yamato has always had their little quirks (as far back as the ever-famous "tab B"), but I think they've produced a consistently good product over the years. There are far worse mishaps that could have occured, and Yamato has never dissapointed me.

The DUTCH factor.. Importance of PREDATOR
Skull Leader replied to Agent ONE's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
As good as Predator was, I don't think it breeched any boundaries. Also, (and this isn't a knock against Arnold at all), I think the movie would've been just as good with any other major action star of the time at the helm (ex: Sylvester Stalone or Kurt Russell could've pulled off an equally good show in the "Dutch" role) By the time "Predator" came out, the storyline had already been played out in the "Alien" series (not yet a trillogy at the time), ALA isolated group of scientists/soldiers gets whittled down to the last badass(es) of the group to take on the final challenge. Before 15 minutes was over with, I could tell you who was going to die and take a remote stab (no pun intended) at how they'd probably check out. I remember, I was dead-on about the Indian, but I did think that "The Body" would make it out alive. Having said that, I did enjoy the movie for it's mindless violence factor (let's face it, Arnie's movies GENERALLY are favored by the "mindless action" junkies), I mean, anytime someone opens up with a minigun, it's going to be a good time Not to mention it featured my favorite squad-weapon of the time period (the M-203) -
yeah, I picked up that issue... it had some really interesting side by side comparisons between Mac0 and Yuk. There are interviews with Shoji Kawamori and the guy that created Yukkikaze (can't remember his name) about what influences them in designing an aircraft. It was a cool article.

Bah, Devistator was the only true pre-movie combiner (in terms of the cartoon). I'd love to see all the other combiners made though, and is that a combaticons/bruticus repaint-set I've been seeing at wal-mart lately? I'd love to see a "Superion" or "Menasor" re-issue set also.

My absolutely perfect day !
Skull Leader replied to Montarvillois's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
heheh, I'm tempted to walk down the block and eat at our local steakhouse.... for $13.00 I can eat a T-bone or New York strip steak that could stand up (on it's own) and whoop Bill Goldberg's ass.... And let's not forget the heavenly garnish of sauteed mushrooms and onions... the fully loaded baked potato. And what true red-meat lover's meal would be complete without a nice baked loaf of bread completely drowned in melted butter? a true culinary orgasm purchased for mere pennies on the dollar. And as good as it tastes? It feels just as good coming out -

for shame! that you would soil such a great day with something so "passe" as a monte cristo! It shouldn't have been anything less than an EXCALIBUR! I get days like that sometimes man, enjoy them to the fullest while they are around!
