pretty much looks like a MiG-29 NEUTER.... It isn't any one real variant over another, just a close facsimile thereof.
-
actually, as a F-14A+ Kai, that simply means it's a custom B... which pretty much leaves the market wide open for any differences. It could be that TCS/IR pods were manufactured for all remaining non-D tomcats to bring them up to spec along with new engines (the overtech engines), not to mention any number of other possible avionics/radar enhancements. Unfortunately, other than the fact that overtechnology was applied to these tomcats, details don't exist so nobody knows to what extent they were modified. I won't go into explaining the TCS/IR pod here, but check Torsten Anfts site for specs on all of the various chinpods used by the tomcat.

Lead for The Da Vinci Code flick has been cast
Skull Leader replied to Jolly Rogers's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
although it's not what the author said, any time I read about Langon, I pictured someone not far removed from Tom Hanks... I think he chose well. I think it is the fact that Hanks is a "middle of the road" actor that makes him so well suited for such a wide variety of roles. -
VF-1J, ugliest head. (IMHO)

You went as far as to register a handle just to tell us how wrong we are? Get a life or go back to "lurking" then. Most of us love the game as it is an ARCADE STYLE game. It was never meant to be a simulator, only have very realistic looking aircraft models (which it does) Uhhh... yeah..as oppose to you replying to me and YOU posting here all the time. Do I need to get a life? by the way, since you like ARCADE fighter games, I suggest you buy the old "AFTERBURNER". That's better than this stinker. I'm amazed that you can't see that a series like Ace Combat evolved out of games like Afterburner. I don't see where any of us claimed to be "experts", and it's always been the assumption (here or anywhere else) that "let the buyer beware". If we told you jumping off a cliff was cool, would you do it? Then again, I'm probably better off not knowing the answer to that question. It's people like you who make me question how we judge if something is "good" or not... so many people don't buy things because they've researched them and decided for themselves... they wait and see what all of the gaming magazines are gonna say about it. They say "Hmm, EGM, PS magazine, and GameInformer all say this game is the best! I should get it so I can be "133+" like all my friends" instead of saying "hmm, I like arcade-style flyers, and AC4 was pretty bitchrod, maybe I should give AC5 a spin...". If I tell you that HALO2 is little more than ass in a can, would you avoid it at all costs? (that was my weak poke at Halo lovers, I really don't mind it), Gods above I hope you wouldn't take MY word for it, you'd really be missing out. Don't take our word for it, and most certainly don't take a gaming magazine's word for it, DECIDE FOR YOURSELF. What's more, it's not like anyone here told you to go out and buy it, you made the fool move of wasting your money without looking in to it more.

The kit is also inaccurate in that it has the fairings for the Pratt and Whitney engines of an F-14A. The GE engines of the F-14B and D look more squared off. I look forward to seeing the finished product though!
-
lol, I hope the model of that VF-154 tomcat doesn't resemble the artwork... they made it a B (look at the closeup of the engine fairings), and the nozzles have the texture of P&W nozzles, but the overall shape of GE nozzles... Ever since the VF-84 bird came out (I noticed the same things David did), my opinion of Franklin Mint's work has gone down.. and this certainly doesn't do anything to improve it (although I suppose it's unlikely that the mint will follow the artists cue.). Hey Dave, did you notice that all of their tomcats use NACES ejection seats? (or otherwise really bastardized Martin/Bakers?)

Dancing Skulls Special Forces Squadron
Skull Leader replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Movies and TV Series
the only thing Skull Squadron and Dancing Skulls Squadron have in common is the fact that two of the members served time on both teams.... otherwise they have NOTHING to do with one another. -
I'll take it off your hands at no charge at all

wow, that site takes me back! and the best thing of all, it led me back to "You can't do that on Television" Here This show ruled my early childhood (and it began the same year I was born), Christina McGlade was my first childhood TV crush!

Tim Burton's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.
Skull Leader replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
SWEET! Marylin Manson as Wonka himself.... This should be interesting... I'm partial to the original and I'm hesitant to see what they bring about in this new version, but I guess all we can do is wait. -
What kind of Harmony-Gold loving nonsense is this? If this forum "iz teh sux" then kindly no longer become a part of it. Yes, BECAUSE of your spelling dramas and the fact that you, as a newcommer expect to come in here and tell us all how it is, I would say yes, you're worth treating like crap. Never knock a teacher. No matter how much I may have hated some of my teachers in high-school and my undergraduate college, they were all people worthy of the highest level of respect. It's something I am aspiring for some day and it's something far too many people take for granted. No, we don't take post count seriously, but we DO know who contributes regularly to this site and who has been around for some time. YOU, my illiterate puffed-up popinjay, are NEITHER. (edited at mikeszekely's reccomendation )

Oh, feel free to "stand up" all you like. In fact, I encourage you to show us more of your manliness. Continue to dazzle us in the brilliance of your grammar and our mis-understanding of our OWN words (read fool. I never said anything about "post count". Mike has been here for a long time and has established himself as a respectable member. Something you know absolutely nothing about.) Some other points: (1) BEING a macross fan does not bar one from stupidity (as in your case) (2) Thanks to your "standing up", there isn't a single member on this board who isn't laughing his ass off at you. (3) what the hell does "f ya" mean? Come out and say it, we're all big boys here (4) Watch out for the moderator standing behind you, it's probably the last thing you'll see here before you are returned to the land of suck from whence you came.

uh, minny.... using words like that only speaks of your level of intelligence, or lack thereof. l33+ sp33k isn't very well thought of here, except for in rare instances (and when used sparingly at that!). Most of us consider it very immature. As an educator in today's world, it really irks me to see the younger generation relying on this stupid abbreviation stuff on the net (for example) U= you RU= Are you 2= to, too and the list goes on. Regardless of where you are or what you are doing, there are people that are offended by that. Take the time to spell out complete thoughts. People today think they can get away with piss-poor spelling habits online and expect to get away with it everywhere else. Seriously... in some of the younger members here (and on other boards as well) there are spelling habits I would FLUNK. One word every now and then is understandable, we all make mistakes, but we ALL get/got basic schooling, we all KNOW how to spell. As the generations that will soon be running the world, I think it incumbent upon us to play the part of people who actually have a clue. REGARDLESS of where you are from. Speak well and your opinions will be respected. Trash your posts up with assinine abbreviations and well, you'll get people like "Arnold" saying you're "teh suck" (spelled like that on purpose). Not to mention, noob status really already places you on a lower holding when you try to debate a long-standing member's philosophy on something.

wow.. that is ALMOST pornographic! Impressive work!

those verlinden modern carrier deck displays are IMPOSSIBLE to find these days... I don't see them on their site, and I can't find anyone else that carries them. I wanted to get a few for some 1/72 aircraft dioramas I am building, but I can't find any!
-
It's doubtful that you'll find any pre-built for sale.... not saying they don't exist, but they're expensive enough unbuilt, I wouldn't want to have to pay for supplies and labor on top of that, it would be pretty pricy!
-
just guessing, I'm going to say somewhere around 10,000-20,000 pieces... the official total never was released. Testors grey primer is almost an identical shade of grey. All you need is a light dusting of black in a couple of areas and intermediate blue on the fins and heatshield, and you've got your low vis

the concept has been toyed with before, but in the end it was decided that it would be too much hassle for a 1/100 kit... they're just fine the way they are.
