Nah. It was a select few games that had issues. Was Atari's idea first. 7800 ran 2600 titles. As far as mainstream systems go, the Genesis was backwards-compatible with the Master System, as was the GameGear. And the GameBoy family was backwards compatible all down the line(GBA>GBC>GBO). Sony was just the first company to have one mainstream home system be compatible with another mainstream home system. I guess I knew other companies worked that way too. Admittedly, I discounted atari, because in my earliest days I could never keep track if just which atari we had... probably the 2600. I never knew about the Genesis back-compatibility with the master system... I HELLA would've kept my Phantasy Star 1 and original Double Dragon if I did! I guess Sony was the first ones to make a serious selling point of it... and it worked!

Sony eventually worked all that out, didn't they? My PS2 has never had any issues running any PS1 games or DVDs (regardless of how dubious the origins may be). I can only surmise that I've yet to try a game in question, or mine is a late enough production model that most of those kinks were worked out. Microsoft would be a damn fool not to include backwards compatibility. I may not be a Halo fan, but even *I* can see that there would still be plenty of money to be made on "greatest hits" Xbox1 games (Mechassault seems to be another popular set, and I'm sure others are out there). I could've married Sony for coming up with that concept for their PS2. I had a large selection (since toned down to a select few) of PS1 games that I still regularly played even AFTER I got my PS2.

We just need more Hummingbird albums That would solve everything

Unfortunately they don't sell to private contractors (unlike the company in Oklahoma that bought like 35 foreign F-16s, which have been de-milled I believe and can be purchased). Most of the tomcats you see there at Davis-Monthan are listed under what they call "72 hour turnaround", that is, in a time of crisis those planes have to be servicable and on the flightline within 3 days. I don't know how they'd get any F-14As running though, virtually all of the P/W TF-30 engines are sitting at Tinker AFB, not Davis Monthan. Most of the tomcats seen in those pictures are probably F-14Bs and what few F-14Ds that are no longer being used (I believe they gave all of the production F-14Ds to VF-31 and 213 after VF-2 and 124 gave theirs up, so they'd have the newest airframes available) Museums have to contact NAS Pensacola to see about getting a Tomcat. They are the ones that determine who gets them and who does not. The only reason we were able to get the one in Tulsa is because the then-commander at NAS Oceana (Eric Benson) was FROM Tulsa, and he wanted the air museum to have one. Working with the museum, I've met a lot of ex-naval aviators that were kind of upset that we HAD one since Tulsa isn't a navy town. I find this strange because Topeka has one also (theirs is from NSAWC actually, it's still in agressor colors!). I'm the Tulsa Air and Space museum's consultant and plane captain for their Tomcat. It's BuNo 161598, one of the 'cats involved in the initial bombcat trials! Ours is actually still flyable (both engines intact and installed, all avionics intact, etc), but it is my understanding that most museum Tomcats can no longer fly... they cut the main wing-spars and do a few other things to guarantee that it wouldn't make it off the ground (or at least, wouldn't stay there if it got OFF the ground). The navy has been back once or twice since we got this tomcat to get spare parts off of it (pretty bad, eh?). They took the HUD projector (I'm assuming for one of 211 or 154's tomcats before they gave theirs up), our flight stick is from a T-38 actually (they took the Tomcat grip when they left it here), both of the dummy light panels (forward cockpit and rear) were taken, and blank panels installed in their place. That was all before I got involved with taking care of it, but I try to keep track of it all. We're trying to get accurate replacement parts for these now (as well as a TCS lens, I wanna get that damn bullet-nose off of the chinpod). I guess we'll see! -
[sarcasm] Your cup runneth over with intelligence. [/sarcasm] Congratulations on being the one totally sick fu(k who had to keep his video of people dying... a proud day for you and your family. Hey Richard, is Offutt doing an airshow this year? (most of the midwest shows have been cancelled), I may actually get up there for this one! I also have plans to attend NAS Oceana and watch VF-32 do the final Tomcat airshow demo

Eva is practically it's own religion in Japan. I wouldn't doubt that the collective otaku community paid the Yakuza to "insure" that this would never happen. LOL a shame too. I was actually looking forward to seeing WETA put this into action. -
To my eyes, Fox has ONLY been useful for "Family Guy"... I really have no other need of them.

I guess it's easy to miss a few posts when you read through 14 pages... but if Factor 5 does another Rogue Squadron, it'll be for PS3, since Factor 5 announced they will be developing exclusively for PS3. I think Capcom hinted that they're working on an RE5, but someone how I don't see it turning up on the Revolution. The reason they went Nintendo exclusive in the first place is because of Shinji Mikami's displeasure with the qualilty of the PS2. Since then, though, almost every exlcusive that Capcom made for the Gamecube has or will have a PS2 version, due to the fact that Sony's much larger audience meant more profit. Now, especially if Sony's machine turns out to be as powerful as people are saying, I'd predict that an RE5 would turn up on the PS3 before any of the other next-gen consoles. I'm glad that you put these two together, because it makes me wonder, what actually keeps games exclusive, a hand-shake or paper-work? Capcom is obviously backing out of it's prior agreement in the later editions. And yes, I enjoyed Aria of Sorrow. Too bad Castlevania games are so short. I actually thought Castlevania III and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night were quite lengthly.... It takes a great deal of time to discover absolutely everything there is to SotN.

about $250 MIB I believe is the going rate.

I heard it wasn't a cost issue for the F2, rather Japan's military is supposed to be purely defensive in nature, hence the name 'Self Defence Force'. Putting CFT's or even drop tanks on the F2 would greatly extend it's range making it capable of offensive operations....a big No No. Graham One of the standard F-2 configurations is a "3-wet" configuration (for those who don't understand, that means 3 droptanks) that gives it enough range to extend well into the chinese mainland. It's already got that capability (and I STILL have yet to figure out if they can mid-air refuel... they've got the doors, but every source I've ever read says that they can't do it) That WAS a huge part of why they didn't opt to do that upgreade. though.
-
For the record, I think CFTs on Vipers are just ass ugly (same thing with that enlarged spine that Israeli vipers are known for). I was so glad to hear that Japan wouldn't be subjecting their F-2s to the CFT treatment (they reviewed the concept and decided they didn't need to spend more money on an already way-too-costly fighter.)

Jan Michael Vincent got into some serious drug/alcohol issues... I remember reading about this all not too long after the series went tits-up, and if I recall correctly Vincent pretty much did everything he could to be an ass during production. He was so convinced of his own importance that the producers eventually told him where he could stick it and cast him out. Sadly enough he WAS that important to the show, because it was all downhill from there. After that, JM Vincent was seen on a number of different talkshows, trying his best to deny any drug or alcohol addiction there might be. finally he was cast into the abysmal depths of B-movie actors. I've only seen him in ONE B-movie (I think it was called "Silver Bullet", not sure)... but beyond that he's pretty much dissapeared off the face of the earth.

Yes there was (produced by Palladium Books). The rules/stats were "ok" for the casual gamer, but a diehard fan with a little common sense will find all kinds of inaccuracies here and there (I.E. they called the Oberth class battleship a one-man space fighter). I don't think it would be a very good basis for a MMORPG simply because of the time it takes to resolve combat under Palladium's universal rules.

No, it lingers. I'm almost sad that he can't post for a bit... I step away from the thread for a couple of days, and Exo, JB0, and Mike all have their turn bitch-slapping him around and I missed out *sigh* thanks for handling my lightwork, boys

LOL, I know that's how *I* like to display my collection so I can look at it all the time!

I don't run any type of tank. I spray Model master acrylic paints STRAIGHT out of the bottle (no thinning) and I get no splatter.

Haven't you made ENOUGH enemies? You know, it's not like ALL OF US walked into YOUR favorite hangout and started pulling meaningless bullshit out of our asses... I don't see why it's taken you so long to get a clue (and you're still not showing any signs of seeing the light) Why don't we wait until a little closer to release time to see how these systems are going to do? I'm planning on a PS3, but I openly admit that Microsoft and Nintendo's next-gen consoles could be really hot stuff. The bottom line is that basing everything on past products is almost useless when it comes to discussing next-gen stuff. By this point, who cares how good the PS2, the X-box, or the Gamecube did? The point is how well will their NEXT projects do... and I don't think you or I (especially you though), or anyone else on these boards are fully qualified to say how the cards are going to fall.

Try a Paasche H model (single action). That's what I'm using and I've had no problems whatsoever out of it (easy to break down and clean too)

With any luck, they'll just set it up so you can hook up you OWN Hard Drive (I seem to recall that if you formatted a certain toshiba hard drive or something, you could mount it in your PS2 much like the hard drive that was released for it) I know that wouldn't make sony any money (I certainly would buy a more top-notch HD if that was the case, and it would be an f-in big one too), but when it comes to add-ons of this nature, few gaming companies seem to be very forward-thinking... and if it's not the hardware developers, it's the 3rd-party game developers. The serious downfall of the PS2 hard drive concept is that it's only really good for FFXI, not much else has made any use of it. That said, I'm pretty much sony-loyal (their last two platforms have done really well by me), and I'm fairly certain the PS3 will be my first next-gen aquisition. Once the prices drop one more time, I'll probably pick up an X-box though. (Damn gamestop and their not allowing you to use your membership card for discounts on used systems! )

Well, throughout other parts of the Star Wars series, we see other protocol droids that look very similar to C-3P0 (IE, encountering a silver duplicate in Cloud City). My guess is Protocol droids are common enough (that particular model as well) that Owen may have seen several in his lifetime. That's the best explination I can come up with, anyhow... (after all, he DOES approach C-3P0 with "I suppose you're programmed for etiquette and protocol....")
-
I believe we do have one (or HAD one... was he maybe one of the guys that got banned?)... I can't remember really and I'm too lazy to look it up!

I don't see the low-vis being reissued.

We aren't? Seriously, Skullone, you and JB0 are some of my favorite people to disagree with, because you tend to have the most well thought-out arguments. *ahem* it's SkullLEADER What I meant really was that beyond videogaming threads, we don't debate much together... but you're right, it's always good to talk videogames with some of the more heavy-hitting gamers on the board (as I said, you, me, JB0, and any others who tend to chime in) Friends it is then!
