Aircraft VS super thread!

ECR over the growler any day of the week. It has only what it needs to get the job done and the speed to get the hell out of there when it's done. While the growler is still struggling to break Mach 1 on it's egress, the ECR crew has already requested landing clearance and has begun discussing what they're gonna throw on the grill that evening. While I don't know a whole lot about either aircraft, from my limited knowledge I'd have to say the Gripen probably would take care of the tigershark. Roughly the same size, but everything I've ever read about the Gripen points to it being one hell of a maneuverable plane -
Gotta love teh Shatner... this man is a pimp!

I used to have several of the toys, but they've long since met their end in garage sales. I still have two of the VHS game videos (volumes 1 and 3) and I have a tape of some of the TV episodes from the series. I loved it as a kid. Too bad the show didn't make it past season 1 (although the scripts were written for a good portion of a second season) I'd get rid of my stuff if I thought there was any value or interest in it... as it is it will probably just sit there, lol

Yeah, the raw-recruits in the movie didn't do much to advance the storyline in my eyes (although the scene with Law and Order was funny) "I drive the car and he finds the bombs! We tried it the other way around, but it didn't work!"

That's a LOT of helos.... that should help a great deal. With FEMA dragging their @sses, it's good to see the hardliners in the military (who are accustomed to getting instant action from orders) are stepping up and taking charge. -
I have no problems confessing... "Afterburner" has always made me hard. No doubt my passion for the F-14 Tomcat helped to fuel this. I pumped quarter after quarter into the Arcade machine... and the Genesis port paid for itself in about 5 minutes and until I sold my original Genesis it was one of my 3 most frequently played games (next to "Shadowrun" and "Sonic 2"). I remember having the SMS version and thinking how horrible it was. I would be very anxious to see how this new one turns out, especially if it stays true to it's linnear shooter origins... and the music? Well, I'm always on the lookout for a kickass rendition of "The Final Takeoff" (anybody got one?). Maybe they'll throw that in for old-time's sake.

FF 1,4,6, and Tactics.... all your final-fantasy needs met conveniently 325550 A. PS1 FF6 sucked big sweaty super monkey balls. B. I prefer 5 to 6. C. I prefer 2j to 1. D. Excepting Tactics, not a one is a native PS game. E. I don't count Tactics. No offense against the game. I actually like it. But it's not a "real" FF any more than Seiken Densetsu 1 is. 325555 Well, it was never stipulated that they had to be PS1 games, lol. You actually preferred 5 over 6? While I respect that opinion, I must say you're probably in the minority. I haven't played all the way through it yet, but I'm pretty far in. I still stand by my philosophy that FFIV (sold in an easier format as FFII for the American SNES) is the best one... I liked FFI simply because it was the original. I enjoy the beefed-up SNES-like PS1 translation. The only thing I didn't like about FFII was the exp mechanics in regards to your attributes (you can only raise ATK by attacking, etc). It may be more realistic, but it's a total pain in the ass to me. -Jeremy (who is still waiting for an licensed english translation for FFIII from the famicom... which was REALLY good...)

The Self-Hating Anime Fan Club

Not only the president, I'm also a client. Down with MGREXX-looking manchildren. -
I'd file it as mediocre. Hardly a great game, but far from the worst. 325320 I suppose I could give it THAT much credit... it's certainly better than FFIX (but no one seems to hype that one, so I don't really say much about it)

I won't go into the million and one reasons why I think FFVII isn't fit to wipe my magnificent backside with, but I wholeheartedly support their decision. They're already making something like three games and a CG movie that directly relate to FFVII (Advent Children, CD, the game about the turks, and the game about Zack). I wish they would quit beating a seriously dead horse and focus on making sure FFXII doesn't suck. -Jeremy (who will seriously start throwing poop at people who think Aerith's death was eye-watering... well it was.. eye-wateringly bad animated, but again.. that's another story...)

It's hard to fathom the devistation that has been brought about... It's bringing out both the best and worst in humanity down there (looters should all be shot on sight if they're snagging anything other than survival gear or food) I'd love to volunteer to go down and help out, but I don't think the police dept. I work for will organize anything like that, since we're shorthanded at the moment. The last dept. I worked for organized a volunteer crew to go to NY for a week after 9/11.

Those are some excellent photos, Richard! I hope to compliment them with some from my trip to NAS Oceana in a couple weeks! From what little I know about mudhens, I have to mirror Dave's surprise... I'd always heard that F-15Es could carry AMRAAMs on their shoulder stations, but I'd never seen pictures of it. I'd say you got a lucky treat out of it Seeing the A-10 makes me happy... because of BRAC, Ft. Smith Arkansas is gonna be switching from Vipers to A-10s!

Robotech honored by Science Fiction Museum
Skull Leader replied to Roy's Blues's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The only thing RT has added to the sci-fi community is to spur hate and resentment from purists who get the "F-me stick" because originals were damn expensive and took forever to get "officially licensed" versions on the store shelves." There were plenty of shows on the air in the US already that had done far more for Sci Fi than "Robotech" did. (even SDF Macross was revolutionary only in a couple of ways) I wouldn't vote SDF: Macross into any hall of fame for being super innovative, so I feel perfectly safe saying that these guys have no f-ing clue what they're talking about. They wouldn't know innovative sci-fi if it crawled up their @ss and give them an orgasm through prostate stimulation (Stewie for governor!!). -
maybe my initial asessment was in error... there is hope. It's no guarantee, but watching that trailer certainly leads me to believe there is a possibility this might not suck.

Don't we have some kinda law against puns on this site? LOL

ahhh, desperation is a smelly cologne. Hollywood is reaching out... DESPERATELY looking for their next hit... willing to leave no franchise unraped in their quest to pwn your wallet. And the sad thing is, fanboys world wide will camp out for hours (if not days) complete in their ghey@$$ masterchief gear just to see this, only to turn around and hate on it to no end in their little fanboy websites. And here I was thinking Hollywood had reached the end of their rope doing a "Doom" movie (with the Rock no less? I mean, c'mon! How about someone, I dunno, GOOD?)

LOL, what true fans of anything are truly fans if they don't occasionally agree to disagree on something?

I don't really care what you think of my dismissive tone. No one told you that you had to respond. You could at BEST argue that there is ample evidence to support either theory, but there's hardly anything conclusive to put it in stone. Sure Max's heatshield is black in that photo, but earlier in the movie there is a scene that clearly shows Roy as having a yellow heatshield... and for that matter, there is a moment in the final scene between Hikaru and Bodolza where his heatshield is clearly white, then red, and when he turns around afterwords to report in, it's black. I would almost be willing to bet money that if a Max VF-1S is ever released (by ANY company licensed by big west), it will have a blue heatshield.

I cannot believe someone would take a few frames of an action scene as a definative canon... even if DYRL is one of the most well-drawn hand-animated movies in anime history. To me, that picture has no more validity than THIS: Whereas the previous picture I posted was a standstill shot where the animators had time to carefully do everything. To each their own, even if I think your logic is hella flawed.

Unless it makes my coffee for me in the morning and keeps me from being lonely on a saturday night (the bad part about having a girlfriend who works on the weekend... ), then I'm not really that anxious to see.

I've yet to understand why Nintendo has been so hush-hush about their controller. my cynical side dictates that regardless of their intentions, it's highly doubtful that it will be as impressive as they're making it out to be.

While we've been over it a million times now, I think I've found a quicker, easier way to sum up my feelings about games of late.. "Dude, where's my gameplay?" Don't get me wrong... my game cabnet right now looks like sequel city (except for Robotech...the only reason I don't have the second robotech game was because I can't get anyone to give me any real money for the first one and I don't want TWO terrible games taking up space on my shelf) and I enjoy most of those like any other person (I've yet to play an Ace Combat that I didn't enjoy, all the MGS games rock, etc). Still, they all lack the ingenuity of a new, innovative game. Looking back at our discussions over the matter (which I've found very enlightening and enjoyable, btw), we seem to pretty much blame everything from the hardware developers, to the software developers and everything in between... and I agree wholeheartedly with that, but could it simply be a case of we've run out of "new" ideas? In all seriousness, what is there left to do? I don't mean that sarcastically or rhetorically, but what subjects or ideas haven't been touched on in some way? JB0, Mike, 1/1, Gaijin... anyone? What have I missed?
